Chapter 65

Wedding Aftermath

Lightning In His Touch

Don watched as the bitch dared to turn her back on him. Claire and her money could go to hell.

No one defied him. No one.

He looked around the ground and found the knife.

The two of them were so caught up in their stupid conversation, he would take them out before they even registered he had moved.

***

Talon could only look at Wren in shock. ~What the hell is she saying?~

“Damn it. What the hell do you mean by that?”

“I will not allow you to return to the killer you once were, just as you refuse to allow me to become one. We will never return to who we were.”

Wren refused to back down from Talon’s gaze.

“Do you understand me? We are strong and capable of never returning to the scum-filled lives we crawled our way out of.”

Talon had never loved her more than in this moment. She was moving forward, not allowing her past to define who she was now.

“I am so proud of you,” he whispered.

“I am proud of us. The unseen and unloved.”

“We are not unseen and unloved,” Talon said, placing a gentle kiss on her. “We are seen and loved.”

***

Don felt like choking on his own spit at their conversation. ~What bullshit.~

He moved in swiftly, coming up behind Wren, his knife ready to plunge deep into her lower back.

***

Wren turned around just in time to block Don’s attack. She drop-kicked the man in the balls, throat-punching him as he went down.

She turned back to Talon. “You, of all people, should realize I can handle myself.”

Talon could not help himself; his face split into a grin. “That’s my girl.”

“Woman,” Wren corrected him. “I am no longer a girl.” She took his hand. “Come on, let’s get out of here.”

They turned and left the man writhing on the ground in pain.

Wren felt like she had finally broken out of the chains she had carried for years. She had never wanted to kill Don.

She had wanted to prove to herself that she could stand up for herself.

He would never be able to harm another person due to being a wanted criminal.

It was finally over for her. She could heal, and Lisa could rest in peace.

“It is over. I want to go home, Talon. I miss our family,” she commented as they reached her room.

Talon grinned and pushed her up against her bedroom door.

“Say it again.”

“What?” Wren asked, her breath starting to pick up at the feel of his body so close to her own.

“Say it again,” Talon repeated.

“Say what?” Wren asked.

“Say that sentence again.”

“What? All I said was I wanted to go home. I miss our family.” Wren looked at Talon. “What is wrong with that?”

Talon kissed her hard, pressing his body against hers, causing her to just about come from the contact.

She missed him in the worst way right now.

“You said ‘home.’ You think of the compound and the others as your home and family.”

Wren smiled. “It does seem so, uh?”

“Good.” He nipped her ear for a brief second. “Let’s get married.”

Talon kissed her again, slipping a hand under her shirt and palming her breast.

She let out a contented sigh.

“I already agreed. Why are you asking again?”

“No. Let’s get married tomorrow on our way home. I do not want to wait.”

“What about the others?” Wren asked, not quite sure if she heard right. Her parents would not approve, but they never had.

“They will not mind. We can always have a reception later. I want you to be mine. I want to start our family now.”

“Family?”

“You did say you wanted children, right? So do I,” Talon said, starting to nibble on her neck.

“We should start making a family. Lily and Eric have a head start on us,” Talon added, lifting his head.

“Talon…”

Talon slipped the door open and led her to the bed.

He laid her down and took a moment to enjoy the sight of her.

She had worn a dress that drew attention to her ample breasts and showed off her legs.

All night, he had done nothing but fantasize about taking it off her.

“Talon…we should not be doing this.”

“Why? Everyone is at the party. Besides, I need you right now,” Talon said, pressing up against her to drive his point home.

Wren sucked in a sharp breath as she felt him against her. She was already wet, her breasts achy, wanting him to touch her.

To hell with keeping face. Her need for Talon’s touch was more important at the moment.

Wren reached her hands up to cradle Talon’s face as she pulled him down for a long kiss.

Both sighed their pleasure as their tongues fenced back and forth.

“Talon…” Wren breathed when he pulled away from her.

His weight had been warm and comforting.

Talon just gave her a grin and stood, starting to remove his tie.

“Let me,” Wren said.

Wren stood and slowly pulled the knot down, loosening his tie before sliding it off completely and dropping it to the floor.

She placed a kiss on his neck before flicking his ear with her tongue as her hands slowly undid his first three buttons, slipping a finger in to draw patterns on his bare flesh.

Talon took her mouth with his, her finger driving him crazy.

Wren stopped her motions, sliding her palms up his shirt to his shoulders, underneath his coat, letting it fall to his feet as well.

Talon reached behind Wren and slowly unzipped the back of her dress, sliding his hands into the opening to caress her lower back.

Wren shuddered at his touch and quickly undid the rest of his shirt buttons, doing to it what she had done to his coat and tie.

Talon slid her dress off her shoulders and stepped away to view her undergarments.

She wore a pretty little lilac-colored bra that did nothing to hide her luscious breasts, with a matching thong and crotchless pantyhose.

He could only stare at those.

He had never seen any in real life, and his cock hardened even more at the sight.

“Like what you see?” she asked.

“Oh yeah,” he replied, kneeling before her.

“Talon?” Wren said.

Talon ignored her as he buried his nose into her flesh and took in her scent, licking her thong with his mouth.

Wren let out a gasp as he took the scrap of cloth in his teeth and pulled it aside, only to stop again.

She had shaved… She had shaved it all.

Wren blushed as Talon stared.

“Talon…,” she whispered.

Talon grinned at her voice and leaned forward, pushing his tongue into her crevice, causing her to gasp and fall back on the bed as her legs gave out.

He slid his hands underneath her to cup her buttocks as his mouth explored every nook and cranny of her lower region. Wren squirmed underneath his skilled tongue, growing wetter and wetter with each stroke.

Talon pulled her into his mouth and sucked, rewarded with an orgasm from her. Wren’s orgasm blindsided her as he continued to suckle her clit with his mouth.

Talon could feel the juices running out of her as he slipped his tongue in deep. Wren cried out at his tongue, and then his finger invaded her core.

“Talon,” Wren sobbed his name, her body on fire.

Talon stood and slid off his pants, close to his own release, but wanting to savor her for as long as possible.

“Please.”

“Anything for you,” he whispered in her ear as he took her, climaxing a few moments later as she screamed his name.

***

She curled up in his arms afterward, feeling warm and sleepy.

“Talon?”

“Yes?”

“Are you serious about getting married tomorrow?”

“Yup.”

“Where would we go to do that?”

“Vegas.”

“Do you think the others would be upset if we did?”

“Nope. The director and I talked. He was the one who gave me the idea.”

“Why the hell would he…”

Talon put a finger over her mouth to shut her up.

“Because once we go back, it could be months to years before we would be able to wed. This is faster and easier.”

“All right.”

She squirmed, pushing closer to Talon. Talon squeezed her tight.

“Let me stay here tonight.”

“I refuse to let you leave.”

“Thank God.”

***

“There you are! You are late,” Wren’s mother met them at the door the next morning. They were surprised she was even awake.

She had had more to drink than anyone last night. “We are already opening the gifts.”

Claire was pissed, and Talon figured she had been the one to let Don know where Wren was last night.

He wanted to punch the woman in the face, but he did not think Wren had a clue her mother would do such a thing to her. Claire was pissed.

Don had failed to take Wren back, and worse, he had been caught. Now she had a completely different issue to handle: the disposal of him.

~Damn these incompetent men.~ She turned away, disgusted at the happiness she felt from them.

Wren did not deserve to be happy after what she had put their family through.

Talon and Wren entered the living room.

Talon leaned in close to whisper in Wren’s ear.

“I have some business with your father. I will return shortly.”

Wren smiled at him and nodded. “All right.”

“You two are cozy.” Lucy seemed put out this morning, but Wren did not care.

“Plotting your own wedding now I am married?”

“You found someone who would marry you?” Lucy’s friend, Mindy, let out a snort.

“Do they know you are damaged goods?”

The room chuckled at Mindy’s comment, but Wren bit the inside of her cheek. She only had to endure for a few more hours, and then she would be free from them.

For the rest of her life if she was lucky.

“I heard they caught Don last night,” Madison, not Maddie, chimed in once the giggling had calmed down.

“Too bad.” Lucy sent a glare toward Wren.

“I had hoped you two could have a little ‘reunion’ to clear the misunderstanding up.”

The room fell silent, looking back and forth from one sister to the other.

Wren refused to give them anything, but she was thrilled he had been apprehended. It was the best gift she had ever had.

“I had no idea you were engaged,” Maddie, NOT Madison, commented.

“Congratulations. I do hope the man knows what he is getting with you.”

“Enough, ladies,” Claire interrupted their conversation.

“We have gifts to open. Wren, take notes and by all means, try to do them right for once. I do not want to have to apologize to our guests for your mistakes.”
