Chapter 30

From a Vampire's Brother to a Human's Mate (Book 2: Completed)

Dawn’s POV

“Tony?” I breathed.

My eyes opened and closed trying to adjust to the light.

Where was I? Last thing I remember was the dance . . . Ian.

I gasped and turned to Tony with a million questions, but that didn’t matter.

His lips were already on mine stealing my breath away. My hands went to his hair as his went to my sides.

I held him to me let his tongue enter my mouth. I let him dominate the kiss because I loved that feeling.

He kissed me like he hadn’t seen me in years, but for me it was moments that had past.

Soon I was getting light headed and I needed air.

I pulled away from him and smiled meeting his eyes.

His eyes were so bright. I don’t think I ever saw him so happy before.

“Oh those blue eyes . . . those beautiful blue eyes,” He laughed. “I thought I would never see them again,” He sighed.

“What?” I looked at him confused.

“Doc! Doc!” He pulled away “She’s awake!” He called away from me.

At this point I was able to look around. I was in Tony’s room. I was only in a t-shirt with a thin sheet laying over me.

I pushed myself up on to my hands but hissed and fell back when pain shot up my arm.

“Careful,” Tony caught me and helped me sit up fixing my pillows. “Your wrist is broken and still swore. Your ankle as well. Most of your shallower wounds and bruises are healed though, so that is god,” He sat on the bed beside me.

“What happened?” I looked to Tony confused.

“Ian attacked you. He completely lost it. He almost killed you, but I found you just in time and I got you out of there,” He smiled brushing my hair out of my face. “You were very badly hurt though. And you were unconscious . . . Dawn this was over a week ago.”

“I was out for a week?” I gasped confused.

“Yes, your body was healing and it took all of your energy,” He explained. “I only wish Ian was out for this long.”

“What did you do to him?” I asked scared. “Please tell me you didn’t kill someone! Not for me . . . I am not worth that!” I gasped.

“Shush,” He sighed, “Stay calm. I didn’t kill him . . . Not yet, at least,” He smirked.

“Tony,” I shook my head, but that was the end of that.

The door burst open and an older man came in with a black.

“Oh my God,” He breathed.

“She’s awake,” Tony smiled at him.

“I see that. Step back, son,” The man breathed.

Tony reluctantly stepped back but kept a hand on my leg.

“This is Doc, Dawn,” Tony nodded to the man. “He has been taken care of you.”

“Hello,” He smiled at me. “If I hurt you at all please tell me. I am just going to check your remaining injuries, check your pulse . . . the normal stuff,” Doc explained.

“Okay,” I nodded to him. “Tony, can I have some water?” I looked to him.

“Oh, yeah sorry,” He stood and grabbed the empty glass from the bed side table and walked off to the bathroom.

Doc worked fast taking my blood pressure, my pulse poking and prodding at every bruise and cut, but nothing hurt too bad.

When he was finally done he looked to Tony, “Get her something to eat,” and then walked out.

“What do you want?” He asked moving back towards my head.

“I . . . I don’t really care,” I shrugged.

“What’s your favorite thing to eat when you are sick?” He asked.

“Umm . . . tomato soup and grilled cheese,” I answered with a smile and then it faded. “My mom . . .”

“We didn’t worry her. She had business out of town and Julie told her you would be stay with her,” He smiled reassuringly.

“Okay . . . has she called?” I asked concerned. She must have been worried.

“Yes, almost every day but Julie took care of it every time,” He held my hand as his smile never faltered.

“Why are you so happy?” I laughed.

“Because you are awake and I get to look into those beautiful blue eyes again. You have no idea what that means to me,” He sighed and pressed his lips against my forehead. “Let me get you something to eat.”

“Dawn! Oh my god, Dawn, you’re awake!” Julie shrilled as she burst through the door and to my side.

Hannah burst in right behind her, both of them pushing Tony away.

I looked at him concerned for his reaction. He seemed extra protective now. Thankfully he just smiled at them and then me.

“I’ll go get the food,” He nodded.

“Okay, thank you,” I smiled back at him.

“No problem,” He walked out and then I turned to Julie and Hannah who had tears running down their faces.

“Oh my God, Dawn, you have no idea how scary it was!” Julie cried.

“We thought we might never see you again,” Hannah gushed.

“I just can’t even bear the thought!” Julie exclaimed.

“And what Ian did to you!” Hannah shook her head disgusted.

“It was horrible. What kind of man would do that? Oh I am so sorry for not getting you help sooner,” Julie covered her face in her hands.

“Calm down! Both of you,” I laughed at them. “I am fine now and you can’t blame yourself,” I looked to Julie. “I specifically asked you not to say anything . . . I was stupid, but I now I am safe now. Thanks to you guys . . . thanks to Tony,” I smiled.

“You should have seen him, Dawn,” Hannah sighed.

“He never left your side. He wouldn’t talk to hardly anyone. We almost had to force feed him, but whatever he did it was all for you. He worried about you all the time. But now . . . now he will be all better and you guys can be together and nothing else will matter,” Julie smiled.

“Oh, Dawn, we missed you so much!” Hannah grabbed me and hugged me.

“You have no idea!” Julie hugged me and Hannah at the same time.

They just held me there for a while and I actually liked it, but soon I couldn’t breathe.

“Umm  . . . You guys . . . I can’t breathe!” I grunted.

“Oh sorry,” They both said as they pulled away.

“We all missed you,” I looked up to see Travis and Felix in the door way, “Even if some of us won’t admit it,” Travis glared back to Felix as he walked in.

“It’s okay,” I laughed.

“How are you feeling?” Travis asked.

“Good just a little hungry,” I replied.

“I could go . . .” Travis, Hannah and Julie stepped towards the door and then stopped and looked at he each other.

“Oh will all of you relax,” Felix scoffed shoving off the door frame he was leaning on and taking a step inside. “Where do you think Tony is?”

They all glared at him.

“He’s right. Don’t worry. Just sit down,” I patted the bed next to me.

Julie and Hannah jumped onto the bed and Travis sat at the bed of the bed leaving Tony’s chair beside the bed open.

“Felix come on. I won’t bite,” I teased.

“But he might,” Tony teased stepping into the room with a bowl of tomato soup and a plate of grilled cheese on a tray. He stepped up and set the tray on my lap and then sat down.

“Thank you,” I smiled at him.

“No problem. Oh and here is more water,” He set it on the bed side table.

I smiled and turned to my group of real friends. I actually had a group of real friends to wake up to. It was the most a mazing feeling a girl could have. With all of them smiling at me it was hard not to feel warm and welcome. And I loved it just as I loved them.

My eyes wandered back to Tony who was still smiling at me.

I loved this boy . . . with all my heart and it made me overjoyed to know he loved me too. I knew I could be happy with them.

“So what all did I miss?” I asked looking to the group.

They all looked to Tony. I followed there gaze.

“You should eat a little first,” He prompted.

I dipped my grilled cheese in the soup and eat a whole half of the sandwich as they watched awkwardly. I then took a big gulp of water. Man that feel good in my stomach!

“Okay,” I looked to him now, but continued to eat.

“There is something you need to know about all of us,” He smiled at Hannah and she smiled back.

Felix grunted, “If you are going to tell her tell her. Don’t play with it,” He growled.

“Felix,” Hannah sighed.

“Whatever,” He glared at her.

“What is that about?” I looked between the both of them.

“Nothing. We’ll explain later,” Hannah reassured with a smile.

“Anyway,” Tony called my attention again. “We are all not what you think we are,” He continued.

“Are you finally going to answer my questions?” I smiled at him.

He smiled back happy that I was happy, “Every last one,” He nodded.

“Finally!” I cheered.

He laughed. “But let me explain first. We did not tell you because we couldn’t. There are laws that restrict, but for reasons which I am going to explain to you we are allowed to tell you,” He smiled.

“Okay I understand,” I was nervous. What could possibly be so important that they were all involved it? And now they wanted me involved as well! I couldn’t believe it. Everything about Tony. From his weird behavior to him caring so much about me . . . everything was going to explain. Honestly he could be from a different planet and I would not care . . . I just wanted to know. I would love him no matter what.

“Well, there really is no way to sugar coat it so I am just going to say it,” He suddenly hesitated looking nervous.

Felix stepped forward and put a hand on his brother’s shoulder, “I’ll start,” He reassured calmly and then looked to me. “Forget everything you thought was real and what was fake. Everything is about to be turned backwards for you,” He warned.

I nodded excited.

“I am a vampire,” He admitted with a straight face.

“What?” I gasped unbelieving.

“I am a witch,” Hannah continued.

“What?” I looked to her confused.

“Julie, Travis and I are werewolves,” Tony finished.

“What?!” I exclaimed. “No, this cannot be real. I am still asleep. I dreamed all of this,” I shook my head so confused.

“I warned you,” Felix shrugged.

“I didn’t want to drop it on you, but there is no other way. Think about it: my odd behavior, my eyes changing, my strength, my possessiveness over you. And you know Felix has always given you a bad feeling,” Tony pushed.

“But Hannah . . . Julie,” I shook my head at them.

“I wasn’t allowed to tell you. I could have been killed if you found out,” Julie sighed sounding sorry.

“And to be fare no one else knew I was a witch until today so . . .” Hannah looked down at her hands blushing.

“But you lied to me for so long,” I looked down at me plate of food. Was I that untrustworthy . . . that not loyal that they had to ide such a big part of their lives from me?

“Dawn it has nothing to do with you!” Julie exclaimed.

“Besides the fact that you are human,” Hannah explained pleadingly.

“We wanted to tell you . . .”

“For so long!” Hannah sighed.

“Humans can’t know about our world,” They chorused and then looked down embarrassed.

“I wanted to tell you from the moment I met you, Dawn. You have no idea. But when I realized you were human I knew I couldn’t. It not possible, but there is something I should have explained to you a long time ago,” Tony sighed.

“What?” I turned to him. Wow . . . the man I love turns into a wolf! How do you just take that in! My eyes shot to Felix. And his brother is a blood sucking monster! What can I do?

“Dawn, please listen,” Tony sighed.

“What is it?” I turned back to him.

“There is a soulmate principle among werewolves. This is basically the idea that when you are born you are half of a whole and out in the world there is your other half . . . somewhere. Being as the whole world is involved, some wolves rarely find there mate, but sometimes they will get lucky,” He turned to Travis.

“Julie and I are mates,” Travis explained and smiled at Julie who instantly moved closer to him.

“It is an unbreakable bond that is so much more than love or physical passion. It is like your mate is your only life line and without them you would die. You are literally two pieces of a whole that were meant to be together. A wolf will have one mate and one mate alone in their life time,” Tony explained.

“And?” I said in awe. The concept was beautiful. I wished I could have that. That I could be Tony’s one and only love, but I now knew that one day Tony would have to leave me. “You are saying this to warn me, aren’t you? That one day you will have to leave no matter what,” I sighed.

“No,” Tony laughed, “I am telling you to answer one of your questions.”

“What? Now I am really confused,” I looked at him.

“You once asked me how I could love you without knowing you,” Tony explained. “It is because you are my mate, Dawn,” He breathed. His eyes were worried. His body was tense as if he was waiting for something.

“Oh my God,” I breathed looking him over. “I . . . I . . . What?” I gasped.

“Listen you do not have to accept. There is an option for a mate to reject . . .”

“Why would I ever want to do that?” I said almost angry. “How could you even assume that would cross my mind?” I glared at him.

“What are you saying?” He looked a little shocked.

“Of course I accept you, Tony. Of course,” I laughed. “A million times over!” I jumped at him, but realized my mistake to late.

Lucky Tony moved quick and caught the try and set it on the ground.

“Sorry,” I mumbled.

“It’s fine,” He laughed and pulled me into his lap. “Everything is fine,” He breathed and then pressed his lips to mine.

“Yes it is,” I smiled when he pulled away and curled into his chest.

“We’ll just give you some space,” Julie sighed and they all got up and left.

“I love you,” I smiled.

“More than you will ever know,” He replied.

He had never seemed happier in his life. But I understood why. He had put off telling me for so long because of Ian, because he was scared I would reject him, but that didn’t even remotely come to mind. I loved him with everything in me and I couldn’t imagine living without him. The whole idea of mates was fascinating to me, but it explained everything. Why I so instantly fell in love with him, why I would only feel comfortable when he was holding me, how he could calm me down by just being in a room. These kinds of things weren’t normal to me, but they seemed pretty normal to Tony. I was just glad to finally belong to something special.
