CHAPTER 1

💕🌺TIME HEALS🌺💕

Hey guys so this story  is fictional, it is taking place in Philadelphia with fictional places so fake names of schools and areas are used. Excuse any mistakes I made. I hope you enjoy it. I have an idea on how I want this story to end but as we go on, you guys will help me in making a final decision on the ending based on your comments. But for now Enjoy.

Just a Few things to get straight, due to the fact that I'm using fictional places in the story:

BridgeWood  is the name of the hood area that is close to Jade Hills which is the name of the area of "upperclass residents".

SUMMER

"Summer!!"I heard as I groaned. "Summer!" followed by a banging on my bedroom door as i grabbed my pillow and buried my face in it.

"Girl I know you hear me." my mom shouted on the other side of the door. "Come on Baby you got school."

"Ok I'm up" I said as I lazily sat up on my bed. I went into my bathroom and jumped at the sight of my hair. My hair was an ultimate huge afro, my curls were all over the place. If I decide to put a brush in my hair, my hair will literally put up a "fight" because it was so thick. I sighed as I pulled on one of my curls. I needed to do something about this and quick. I couldn't be seen in school with my hair looking like this, I wont let the students at school see my natural hair.

I attend a private school in Philadelphia name EastView Educational Institute. It was a school where mostly white kids go. At school their hair always looked  perfect and straight and I wouldn't dare go to school with my curls for them to look at me differently. I'm stating facts from experience, because I tried it once and the students spent whole day  curiously poking my hair asking me what that new hat was called. My mom also wouldn't allow me to leave the house with my natural hair. Besides, I didn't want to look like a "ghetto girl" as they referred to the girls in the neighborhood's public school, Bridgewood High. It was where most of the teens from the hood, BridgeWood Avenue attends. BridgeWood Avenue was five minutes away from my neighborhood, Jade Hills.

I am the only child for my mom and dad. We were what people would refer to as "upper class". I love my both parents but my mom and my dad are the total opposite of each other. My mom grew up in a rich family right here in Jade Hills. Her rich lifestyle influenced her "boujee" attitude and the way she would always want everything up to good standards. She refuses to settle for anything less. When I was younger, it was my mother's idea for me to be home schooled for kindergarten, and to attend a private high school as a teenager. She refuses to let me attend public schools because she didn't want me to associate with the girls  who lived in the hood. To my mother, hood people had "no training".  And if you're wondering, yes my mother is also African American just like myself.

My dad on the other hand,  grew up in the hood, which was Bridgewood. He came from a family which wasn't  financially stable. My dad was more laid back than my mom, he wanted me to communicate with other people without boundaries. He did not want me to judge or treat others differently because of where they lived or how they looked. My dad knew how I was pressured by my mother's way of living, so he always tried to convince me to be my self and do what i love. He wanted me to embrace who I am, which was a beautiful black girl.

"Summer, have you gone back to sleep?" My mom banged on my door.

"No mama I'm about to take a shower"

I quickly got in the shower and organised my uniform for school. After I was finished, I settled in front of the mirror to flat iron my hair.

I wish I had straight hair

I struggled with my comb as I parted my hair preparing it to be flat  ironed. After flat ironing about one quarter of my hair, I became tired and frustrated "ugghh!"

"What wrong sweet heart?" my dad poked his head in my room.

"My hair is not co-operating today" I sighed

"Baby girl you got beautiful hair, why don't you just leave your curls and put it into that kind of hairstyle with the one and all the curls high on your head?"

I laughed "You mean a high puff?"

He nodded. Just as my mom passed my room but  stopped in her tracks and stood beside my dad looking at me in horror.

"Oh my baby, you cant be seen like this, Come on let me iron your hair for you."

I saw my dad roll his eyes as she pushed past him and started on my hair.

"Ghetto got to go" she said as she passed the iron through my hair. That was her "motto". It was Something she said when things are not looking good to her liking or "standards".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're Aunt Camille is coming for dinner tonight" my mom stated as she kept her eyes on the road as she drove me to school.

"Yippe" I said sarcastically. My Aunt Camille was my dad's sister and she lived in BridgeWood also. She was blunt and she would say whatever comes to her mind, not caring about how someone felt after. I wasn't fond of her because she claimed that my mother raised me to be "stuck up" and she tried to teach me similar life lessons like dad.

"Come on baby girl, she is your aunt and your father's only sister, so bear with her." my mom pleaded

I sighed as my mom pulled up at my school.

"Ok hunni. I'll pick you later alright"

"No Jessica said she will drop me off today." I responded as i hopped out of the car.

"Ok Baby. Did you take your medication this morning?"

I nodded yes as I waved her goodbye "Later mom"

"Later baby" she said as she drove off.

I turned on my heels and entered my school. I would lie if I said that I was completely comfortable attending a school which had white kids as majority of the population. My dark skin colour made me feel out of place but I prefer to be here than to be surrounded by "thugs" and "hood chicks"as my mother would say.

"Oh my god Summer!" my friend Jessica exclaimed as she ran and hugged me. Jessica was Caucasian. She was a brunette with long hair, thin lips and green eyes. She had everything I wish I had. Jessica lived about three houses from me with her mother, father and her little brother.

"Hey Jessie" I hugged her "How was you trip to Paris? Is your grand mother feeling better?" We were almost through the first semester of senior year but Jessica grandmother who lived in Paris fell ill, so the school had allowed her to skip a few days to fly out with her parents to Paris to take care of her grandmother.

"She's better now but the trip was awesome. The Eiffel tower was a sight to see. My mom said next vacation we should go and You and Emily should come with us."

Emily was similar to Jessica but she had blonde hair and blue eyes with freckles on her nose. She was also my best friend.

"Yes that will be great, my mom would love that"I said

"What about you how was your school while I was gone? Did you miss me?" she asked smiling widely while poking my shoulder.

I smiled as I rolled my eyes "Yes I missed you. But school was like all the other school days we've had. You just missed my birthday, but nothing major was done Emily and I just went to the movies. I did get alot of gifts tho" I pulled out my phone out of my pocket "Check out my new  iphone"

We jumped up and squealed.

"What about josh?" Jessica asked. Just as a pair of hands came around my waist and a kiss was planted  on my cheek.

"Here I am" he said.

I turned around and buried myself in his arms. "Baby!"

He laughed "Hey Sum" as his arms wrapped around me

"Can I get a hug too?" a voice said making all three of us look around to see Emily. We immediately went to hug her.

So this is my friend group, Jessica, Emily and my boyfriend Josh.

AFTER SCHOOL

"OMG! Guys I forgot to tell you that I met like the cutest guy in Paris" Jessica announced excitedly as she lowered the music in the car. I was in the backseat and Jessica was driving while Emily was in the passenger seat.

"No way" Emily anticipated

"Yes way, he was-" she was cut off when she pulled to a sudden stop causing us all to fly forward. The roads were packed with police and it had traffic as we was passing BridgeWood neighborhood.

I looked out the window and watched as the cops had two black males  who looked about our age face down on the car hood while another cop had one face down on the pavement.

"I don't know why they can't act like normal people" Emily said referring to people who lived in BridgeWood.

"I know, it's like they have a magnet that only gravitates bad towards them"Jessica added

"Yeah nothing good comes from there" I said as we slowly drove past the scene.

-----------

"Thanks for the drop guys" I closed Jessica's car door and made my way through the gate to my house.

"Jordan shutcho reclining hairline ass up" I heard and I immediately rolled my eyes

She's here
