Chapter10

4th September,2019

SUMMER

"Oh my I cant lose him" Trina cried as a few tears trickled down her cheeks. It was lunchtime and the girls and I was chillin out on the school lawn, where I told them everything that went on with Jay  and Rashad last night.

"I don't understand why would they want to come at them like that"I inqiured and Jhene looked at me

"Cause They opp niggas Summer, and in case you forgot they caused us one of the worst memory of our life"

"Yeah they took Tyrese from us" Trina sniffed

"Tyrese?"

"Jay knew that they would've hurt us when they did that. He knew it will hurt Trey and Rah to loose their little brother" Jhene spoke as her eyes became glassy  "He was my lil brother too and they took his life at just 12 years. He was innocent mane" A few tears fell down her cheek and she quickly wiped them away.

My eyes widen "They shot a kid?!"

Trina nodded "They did a drive by when he was on the court playing basket ball, Trey saw everything. He ran and tried to cover him but it was too late."

"Then Uncle Mike couldn't take the pain no mo, so he went and set it off on those niggas. At first when it happened He went to the police but we're from the hood, no one cares about whats going on with us so he took justice into his own hands. He killed Jay's brother and now Uncle Mike is in jail and only Lord knows when he's coming out."Jhene sighed  "But he said he'll do it all over again cause them niggas deserved it"

As the girls spoke my emotions was saddened. It is a disgrace the way people over look issues in the hood, this kid died for god's sake and the police refused to investigate and say shit.

"Jay disappeared for a while, but now that you're telling me that you saw him last night. He's back. I don't want anything to happen to the boys" Trina cried as Jhene comforted her. I felt my cheeks becoming damp as I looked at them.

I was crying.

"Its gon be good. It will get better"I said as i hugged them both.

"Ouuu this my shit"Trina squealed as she turned up the music "Fore I go broke like Joc, Fuck with that dog like Vick ,Not that rock, that pit'. Palm Angels down to my sock. Can't hold my Glock, reason I don't really like that shit, Young turnt nigga, can't wife no bitch, Excuse my French, don't like no bitch." Trina rapped as we was on our way home from school. I bumped my head to the beat as I looked out the window.

"You know that Lil Baby is bae" Jhene beamed as she bumped in her seat. "I think we should go get some Chick Fil A I'm hungry"

"Yessirr" Trina agreed and I also nodded in agreement. As I sat there looking through the window I remembered a question I wanted answers to.

"Hey guys!"I shouted over the music and Jhene lowered the music  "Jalen texted me last night"  I stated as though I had already knew who he was. Jhene side eyed Trina and Trina just rolled eyes. I assume it's someone they both cant stand.

"Oh goodie" Jhene said sarcastically

"We know you was hurt with Rashad leaving and all but I don't know why you had to choose his punk ass as your boyfriend Summer" Trina blurted out and Jhene pinched her arm "Bitch"she mugged Jhene

I passed my hands over my face " And ya'll watched me go out with Rashad last night knowing that I had a boyfriend. Oh my god I basically cheated" I stated and Trina smacked her lips

"Not when he's a cheater too" she said softly but I heard her

"Am I missing something?" I asked looking between Jhene and Trina

"No not at all.... Um we're here what u guys want?"Jhene asked changing the conversation. She took our orders and got our food through the drive thru and pulled a park in the parking lot. Trina and Jhene came out of the car and I followed them. I watched as they sat on the car bonnet and left a space for me. I sat next to Trina who was in the middle of Jhene. We all leaned back and ate as we looked at the evening sunset, making me feel relaxed.

"What's up with Jalen tho?" Trina asked as she ate a fry. I looked up at the sun setting "He texted me and told me that he's coming back and he's seeing me today."

Jhene sighed and I looked at her "I know ya'll are keeping something from me"

"I'm just gonna come out and say it, Summer Jalen is cheating on you" Trina said

"Trina!"Jhene shouted

"What I needed to tell her, plus her ass ain't want him, she locked on Rah" she told Jhene then she turned back to me "Summer, Jhene and I found out that he cheated on you while on his family vacation in the Miami that he's supposed to be coming from today"

To be honest I wasn't hurt because I didn't even know who he was but from what I'm hearing, he sounded like bad news. "Really?" I asked putting on a fake sad face and they both nodded.

"Trina look at her. See what you cause"Jhene scolded Trina

"Nuh uh Summer's my bitch and I ain't finna sit around and not let her know what's up and make her hurt even more"Trina put her hand up in surrender.

"How'd ya'll know?"

" Because he cheated with Trina's cousin bestfriend. They met during his  vacation in Miami and they were hitting it off. A day Trina was talking to her cousin and she found out and she sent Trina pictures." Jhene showed me her phone. I looked at the pictures. Jalen was a fine lightskin, he looked similar to Josh, but he was not as fine as Rashad tho.

"Damn" I said looking at the picture where him and the girl were kissing.

You sure know how to pick 'em Summer

"See I told you she ain't fucking with that square ass nigga no mo, she with Rah thug ass" Trina laughed "Her ass ain't lookin hurt one bit. Beside we all know he was a rebound for Rah"Trina shrugged nonchalantly

I laughed "Speaking of Rah, I haven't heard from him since yesterday. Doesn't he have my number to text me?"

"Yeah but your bipolar ass blocked the nigga on all social media possible remember?" Jhene smirked and I shook my head as I made a mental note to unblock Rashad when I get home.

"Hey ya'll, I heard it's gonna have a kickback Saturday. Ya'll bitches wanna hit?" Trina asked

"Hell fucking yeah"Jhene exclaimed excitedly

I scratched the back of my neck "I don't know guys"

"Bitch you're going and that's final" Jhene ordered making me chuckle to myself. These girls don't ever allow me to make my own decisions.

Trina hopped off the bonnet "We finna be lit as fuck ayyyee" she stuck her tongue out as she bent over twerking

"Ayyee" Jhene hyped her. I laughed at their energy, shit can't be boring when you got friends like them.  As I watched Trina my eyes caught on something and I frowned "Hey Trina what's that on your lower back?" I asked. As Trina was twerking her shirt lifted a little andIi saw a mark like someone burnt her with an iron. Her eyes traveled to where I was referring to and she quickly covered it up and stood up

"Girl I backed it up on the hot stove yesterday at home and got a lil burn" she responded calmly as she sat back in her spot on the bonnet. Jhene and I looked at her.

"Trina you sure? Cause that ain't lookin' like a regular burn?" Jhene questioned

"It is!" Trina snapped "Just don't tell Trey about this aight". Me and Jhene nodded and we all sat back on the car in silence. Something was going on with Trina and she refused to tell us.

Jhene pulled up in front of my house to see a blue car parked there.

"Jalen's here" Trina announced sarcastically. We all looked on the step and saw a guy sitting there like he was waiting on someone.........well waiting on me.

"You want us to get out with you? We can go inside while you talk to him outside"Jhene asked as she looked back at me

"Yeah cause that nigga half white so he might have that half psycho shit going on. He might throw a whole fit when you break up with his ass"Trina added

While me and the girl were sitting in the Chick Fil A parking lot I told them that I was gonna cut things off with Jalen and they both agreed.

"Nah I'm good. I can handle it ya'll, don't worry ya'll overprotective asses" They both nodded and I cam e out the car preparing to face this nigga Jalen. "Later guys"

"Byee" they responded in unison as Jhene pulled off. Jalen saw me and got up with a boquette of roses as he plastered on his face.

Eww Roses I hate roses. This nigga was really a rebound because he ain't know shit bout me

I didn't know Jalen but his vibe was already turning me off. I slowly walked up the stairs to my doorstep where he was standing and he got up and rushed hugging me

"Babygirl I missed you so much" he breathed into the crook of my neck making me feel uncomfortable. I pulled away making his smile disappear realizing something was wrong.

"Is something wrong?"he asked

"We're done" was all I said as I turned to go inside hoping that he won't stop me and just let it be.

"Why, babe what did i do?" he held onto my arm.

Fuck

I turned back looking at him. I didn't really know much about our relationship was but knowing the person I am, for me to have him as my boyfriend meant that i had trusted him and he wasn't taking me seriously. Thinking about it made me a little angry and I decided to act the role of a girlfriend and her cheating ass boyfriend. "Your ass cheated on me!"I fussed "But surprise surprise the girl that you cheated with was Trina's cousin best friend bitch"I sassed as I came up in his face.

His eyes grew in shock and I smirked "Yeah so leave me the fuck alone asshole" I didn't know where all of this boldness was coming, I was actually speaking up. He stood there quiet looking at me.

Yeah bitch ain't nobody bouta cheat on Summer Reese. No sir.

I turned to go inside when he grabbed me by my arm, stopping me again but this time roughly and his hands squeezed my arms. I looked at him and saw his eyes were filled with rage. He held me by my neck and I became scared.

"Listen bitch we ain't over until I say we're over. Yo ass ain't going no where" He  whispered in my ear. I felt my eyes stinging as tears began to flow down my cheeks. "Oh what's wrong you can't talk yo shit no mo"he bucked as  his grip became tighter around my neck. I felt my heart beginning to beat rapidly as my chest hurt from the lack of oxygen. My vision blurred as my eyes lowed. Before I knew it, someone attacked Jalen to the ground and they wasted no time to throw punches at him. I  gasp trying to regulate my breathing as I knelt on the floor. I could hear sounds of Jalen bones breaking with every hit. The male figure stood up and started stomping on Jalen until he became unconscious and  his body was lifeless. The person turned around looking at me.

It was Rashad.

His dark eyes which were filled with lots of rage turned soft when he saw me gasping for breath a kneeling on the floor holding my chest. He quickly lifted me up bridal style and put me in his car.

"Summer baby stay with me ok" he begged but my heart was paining so much that my eyes were closing and my body was getting weak.

"How long she had this condition?" I slowly opened my eyes seeing  Rashad standing outside my hospital room talking to my Aunt.

"Summer was born with a hole in her heart" Camille told him. He looked at her shocked but it was soon replaced with anger when he punched the wall.

"Why didn't she tell me this shit?" he grunted with venom in his voice

"Summer didn't tell anyone, I think you should talk to her about it"she explained. I cleared my throat making my presence known and they both looked at me. My aunt rushed to my side "Oh my baby"she hugged me tightly "I told yo ass to leave that lil ass boy since the first day my blood didn't take to him."she sighed then pulled away looking at me "I almost lost you"

I smiled "I'm fine Aunt Camille, thanks to Rashad" I looked at door way to see Rashad wasn't there again.

"Summerrrr!!"  Jhene and Trina screamed as they came running in with Trey behind them.

"Girl I knew we shouldn't have left you with his crazy ass alone" Trina said as her and Jhene hugged me.

"Rashad came and save me"

Jhene nodded "Yeah we sent him. You being with Jalen alone didn't sit well with us, so we went straight to my house and told him to check on you"

"And girl that nigga flew up without a question. Whew chile" Trina fanned herself "He fuc- I mean riding with you strong"  she corrected herself making my aunt gave her a warning look. I chuckled.

I looked around my bed and saw everyone. My family and my friends. I couldn't help but get emotional as I remembered when I was in the hospital that day and  none of my friends didn't show but my mom and dad. But Trina , Jhene and Trey came in a heart beat, my aunt was by my side the whole time and Rashad  saved me.

"Rashad beat his punk ass real bad for yo ass tho no cap" Trey said as he came and hugged me.

"I know I saw." I began scanning the room for him again "Where is he anyway?" I asked.

"Right here" Everyone looked back and I saw him standing at the doorway.

"Come on ya'll let's go get sumn to eat and give these two some space" My aunt announced and everyone followed her out.

Rashad slowly came to my bed side and sat on the chair next to my bed. I looked down at my hands while nervously playing with my fingers "Thank you" I said softly

"You g" After a few minutes of silence, His hands landed on mine and I looked at him "I should be so angry at you right now, for keeping such a big secret like that from me, from your friends" he looked down and shook his head "But i cant be."

I looked at him as he had his head down resting on my bed. I had always prepared for a time like this in my life before, where my friends would find out and I would have to talk about it, about my sickness and why I kept it a secret all this time.

"I'm sorry" I began rubbing my thumb over his hand "But when I found out about my heart" I closed my eyes replaying the first time I was diagnosed. "I didn't feel like living, I felt so depressed. I felt useless" tears ran down my cheek "I was hurt. and I didn't want people close to me getting hurt from it because it was hurting me already" Rashad leaned forward and wiped away my tears with the pads of his thumb as he looked at me  "I didn't talk about it because I wanted to keep it a secret but because everyone would treat me different. Everyday when you guys see me, ya'll will ask about my health and I didn't want that. I didn't want a constant reminder that I was carrying a fucked up heart in my chest which will sooner or later end my life"I cried "I try to go about life like I'm fine, and if you guys knew, ya'll will see how it's  eating alive everyday." It was true, don't matter where I was or what lifetime I was in, my sickness was eating me alive. But in a long time, these past few days I had spent in the hood, I was the happiest. I preferred to live here than to go back living that white wash life I was living before. Here was where I can be myself.

Rashad looked me "I understand, but we are here for you Summer. Yes we will ask you about your health but its only because we care and we don't wanna lose you. The girls love u, your aunt, my mom ,trey and I love you. And we have been through so much together not to trust and be there for one another." I looked down and nodded

"I feel dead with a heart like this" I whispered looking down. He used his index finger to make me look at him "Let us bring you back to life. Allow  us to complete your heart."

I smiled looking at him "Thank you" making him smile back at me.

"We're here for you bitch you know this"Trina said as she wiped her tears that had fallen.

"Your ass so emotional" Trey pinched Trina thigh.

I had finally told everyone about my condition. "I'm sorry I kept this from you guys"

"Its ok girl. You told us now and we promise not to treat you different but no matter what, we got your back" Jhene assured as she leaned into Jahmiel's chest. I smiled looking at them, everyone here was like a family I never had, and the few days that I've spent here, I knew that I had already loved them all.
