Chapter 2

💕🌺TIME HEALS🌺💕

Excuse any mistakes made guys.

SUMMER

I slowly made my way to the staircase, trying to pass the kitchen with out being seen.

"I know damn well my boujee ass niece ain't tryna go to her room without out greetin' her auntie with a hug."

I stopped and turned around giving her a fake smile as I made my way in the kitchen and hugged her "Hi Aunt Camille"

"Hi babygirl, what you put in your hair, it smell like burnt mac n cheese."

Exactly what I said earlier........Blunt

"Tell her, Camille"my dad said "I'm always tellin' her that her hair is perfect natural as it is"

I side eyed him

"Yup you a black girl Summer, be proud of that and don't try to be someone else." she lectured "Cause you will soon find yourself not loving the person you are"

Too Late

"Exactly" my dad agreed

"You need to bless that special school  you go to with some of your black girl magic, because black is beautiful" She said

"Mhm"my dad hyped her

"And once you got that confidence, you will be surprised at the strong power held in the sway of our hips, curl of our hair and the way we carry our selves. Power so strong we be trappin these niggas out here"

"mh- hold up" My dad looked at Aunt Camille.

"What? Jordan your daughter is basically 17 years old, a senior, she gonna have a boyfriend. If she doesn't have one already." My Aunt said causing my dad to look at me.

I bit my lip. My parents didn't know I had a boyfriend and I would like to keep it that way.

"Boyfriend is none of my concern right now" I answered

My dad nodded but my Aunt burst into laughter

"Jordan you are so easy to deceive." she laughed and turned to me "I wish my daddy was that easy to mess with"

"Shut yo ass up Camille" He said as he mushed her head.

My dad spoke proper, but when he's around Aunt Camille or any of his other family members from the hood, you would hear his slang come out once in a while. However, when my mom, my mom's family and I  am around, he was as proper as he can be.

"Language Darling" my mother said as she entered the kitchen

"Sorry Dear"he said

Sophisticated

"SoRrY dEaR" My Aunt copied him as she laughed "With your fake ass"

My mother rolled her eyes before putting on a fake smile "Camille Dear, how are you?"

"Im cool. Chillin. Wassup witchu?" Camille responded

"Im divine"

"Oh that's rather Splendid" Camille tried to say in a proper tone  as she giggled.

"Camille" my father warned before turning to my mother "What are we having for dinner hunni?"

"Some Salmon, Steamed vegetables and rice cake"

"I'm confused, is that for us or the dog?"Camille said referring to my puppy Trixee who just waltzed in the kitchen.

"Our family enjoys that meal, right Jordan?" my mom looked at my dad who was froze in his seat.

"um..uh..-"

"Boy shutyo dumbass up. Trudy why don't you take a rest from the kitchen tonight and let me handle dinner?" Camille said as she got up from her stool at the island and began looking in the fridge. "Where the Steak at?!?"  she shouted

"Um Camille it's ok. I'll handle dinner" My mom tried to stop her.

"Trudy darling i got this"

I looked at my mother as she sighed defeated and made her way to my dad, whispering something to him and they both left the kitchen.  Aunt Camille was a handful.

Savage

"Damn Jordan, slow down the food ain't running anywhere." Camille told my dad.

My dad was scarfing down the dinner what Aunt Camille made like there was no tomorrow. I don't even think he took time to breathe. Its like he haven't eaten for days, while my mom just poke the food with her fork not knowing where to start. Aunt Camille had cooked some cheese steak with mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, greens, corn pie, fried chicken and some secret sauce. I had to admit, I wasn't used to having so much of food on my plate but it looked great.

"You got more Mac n Cheese?" my dad asked as my mother side eyed him.

This was going to be a long night.

26th November, 2019

"And if you saw the way that woman took over my house, and her ghetto attitude was unacceptable"  my mom ranted on her phone to her sister as we made our way to Doctors Inn Private Medical Facility.

"Hi good morning and how may I help you?" we were greeted by the receptionist.

"Ok bye Kelsey" My mom put her phone away and turned her attention to the receptionist "Hi, we're here to see Doctor Pemburton. Its's Reese, Summer Reese "

The receptionist smiled "Reese," she skimmed through the list in front of her. "Ah yes I'm seeing your name, follow me please."

She led us to the room, which I knew like the back of my hand because I'm here like 4 times a month and the whole month if things becomes drastic.

"Dr.Pemburton, Summer Reese is here"

A chineese lady came to the door smiling "Come in"

My mother and I entered and I sat on the bed with my feet dangling off the edge.

"And how are you today Miss Reese?"

"I'm fine" I responded

"And how is your heart?" She looked at me.

That's a secret no one had known, but my family. I had a hole in my heart. I was 10 years old, when the doctors stated that they had heard a mumur in my heart. They had further investigate it and ran a couple tests on me and later, diagnosed me with Atrial Septic Effect.

"It's good, because I've been feeling good for the past days."

Every time I am experiencing shortness of breath, slight chest pain and also different parts of my body becoming swollen, I know my heart is the cause.

"Ok that's good to hear Summer" she stood up "Let me give you a brief check up to ensure that everything is running smoothly, then you can be on your way ok."

I nodded

She did a few procedures and checkup on me. "Ok Summer, I'm seeing that everything is functioning well, but you know how these things can be unpredictable. Because one minute you'll be good and the next you're heart begins to act up."  I nodded. She then sighed and looked at me.

"Your heart is going well, but I highly recommend a heart transplant, before the day comes when your heart decides to give up."

"Oh God" I heard my mother squeaked. I didn't have to look at her to know that she was crying. My face was blank, as my mind was flooded with thoughts. I just sat there experiencing so many different emotions. I did the only thing I could because I knew words were unable to come out at the moment. I nodded.

"Now don't be scared because right now your heart is functioning well, but I just suggest you start looking for a match or we can try and source one for you."  she held my hand  "You are a strong girl Summer, and I believe that you will pull through this difficult time." I didn't realize that my cheeks were wet from the tears which were pouring down my face.

Why me?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I'm just going in Walmart to collect a few things, would you like to come sweetie?" My mom said as she unbuckled her seat belt.

I nodded and unbuckled my seat belt and came out the car.

As I walked through the isles, I looked at everyone walking and talking and being happy, while I had just received a freaking "death sentence". I began to low key despise them.

They got a good heart and I was born with one that barely functions, an incomplete one. One that couldn't even be completed if I tried. I felt incomplete. I felt like no matter what I would remain incomplete, like I was drowning and I couldn't even be saved.

"Hunny can you get us a crate of eggs?"

I nodded and went to get the crate of eggs. When I arrived at the egg section I stopped when I saw a girl, that looked my age packing the eggs. She was brown skin and her natural hair was up in a high puff, showing off the curls that I was afraid to show. I looked at her as she packed the eggs, she looked happy. I guess I was staring too much because she looked at me and scrunched up her face.

"Bitch you starin rather hard," she said as she rolled her eyes "Imma dick kinda girl, I ain't bout that coochie bump n grind shit"

What did she just say?

I looked at her confused which made her roll her eyes "What you on? You want some eggs?" She said handing me a crate.

I took it "Thank you" I said softly earning her looking me up and down skeptically.

"What's up with you, you straight? You seem down."

"I'm good" i lied and she nodded

"What's your name?"

"Summer"

She smirked "You're named after a season? How clever, I'm Trina."

"Hunny did you-"  My mom came but stopped when she saw Trina. I could see the way my mom examined Trina. From her pierced nose, to the grey contacts in her eyes to her tattoo on her wrists and the icing on the cake was  her kinky curly natural hair. I watched as my mother plastered a fake smile "Who is this?"

"Trina" the girl answered before I can say anything

"Ok hi"  my mother responded then  turned to me, causing Trina to roll her eyes. I assume she sensed my mother's attitude. "We should get going hunny."

I nodded "Bye"  I said to Trina who waved and I followed my mom.

"She so..."

Ghetto

"She looks the same age as you and she's already working. I feel sorry for teens like them. Thank god my baby don't have to work a day in her school life" She smiled at me "You can actually enjoy your teenage years."

Yeah Thank god.
