Chapter 23

5th October, 2019 Saturday

AT the Cook Out

"I'm so nervous" Jhene paced back and forth in her room. Me and the girls were getting ready for the cookout. People were already outside in the backyard and Jhene was here going through a fit because she was nervous for Dante to be here along with Jah.

"Girl chill everything will be cool" Trina said as she applied her last bit of makeup. "Yall ready?" I nodded.

(Outside in the Cookout)

TRINA

"Finally my lil mama is here" Rah said excitedly as he wrapped his arms around Summer kissing her lips before taking her away. She spun around showing us thumbs up, before leaving with Rashad.

"Well looks like its just the both of us" Jhene stood next to me

I squinted my eyes "Ain't that Dante?" I asked, as I looked a guy walking in looking like him

Jhene looked in the direction and a smile spread across her face "Yeah that's him" she stated as she fidgeted excitedly. She was about to go but turned to me "Trina I'm scared" she cringed

"Bitch don't make me slap that shit outta you. Go meet that boy and flex your new nigga on Jah's weak ass"

She smiled and hugged me "Thanks girl "she said and wasted no time running in the direction to meet Dante

I stood there arkwardly watching as everyone interacted with one another. I fought back my tears as my mind drifted on to Trey.

I really did him wrong for not telling him anything, I just wasnt ready to talk about it. I wish he would just talk to me.

I sighed as I walked over to the bar to get a drink.

"What you want sweet pea?" Uncle Rodney asked. He was just an elder in our hood.

I needed something strong , something that will make me forget the pain.

"The strongest alcohol you got please" I answered

"Naw Unc give her some fruit punch or some other juice shit" I heard behind me.

I turned around coming face to face with Trey, making just wanting to fall into his arms.

God I missed him.

"Why you do that fa?" I said trying to get an attitude with him.

"You know how you get when you drink. And I aint boutta be draggin you off  my mama's tables and carrying you inside" he smirked and I smiled a little.

"At least I'll be happy for once, cause its been a while" I muttered to myself as i turned away from him taking the juice from Uncle Rodney.

"Lets change that today then" he said and I looked up at him. His face was serious as he looked down at me, making me feel so small under his gaze " Cause a nigga ain't been happy for a while either" he finished and I looked down and began playin with my finger for a while before looking back up to him.

"Listen trey, I know I probably said this a million times but-" he put his hand up to stop me and his arms snaked around my waist pulling me into him.

"Just promise me Trina, that this time you wont keep anymore shit from me like that again. " he said with his voice coming out deep and serious. I closed my eyes inhaling his scent that i missed while  enjoying being in his hold.

I slowly nodded unable to form words.

"I may get angry and wanna kill a nigga over you but just know its only cause I love you girl and I cant see you hurt. I go to war for mine, I ain't playing bout you" I smiled as I went on my tip toes and kissed trey. His soft lips against mines was like oxygen, it felt as though i wasn't breathing for the past days and I finally was.

"I love u too baby boy"

SUMMER

" Mhmm, my momma sure can fuck shit up" Rashad said as he ate a chicken wing

" You just couldn't wait for the food to share, you just had to take before time" I laughed as I walked out of the kitchen with some hot wings that Mrs Johnson had wanted from the kitchen. I placed it on the food table  outside as Rashad tried to re open the bowl for another piece, making me smack his hand

" Damn summer" he groaned

" Yo greedy ass would eat everything and no one will be able to get after you run through the shit" I retorted making him pull me into him by my waist.

" My ass wasn't greedy when I was eating you tho, you loved that shit huh?" he whispered in my ear making my knees buckle beneath me

Lord I want him now

"Rashad! is that you?" I heard knocking me out of my thoughts. We both turned around coming face to face with a girl. My first look at her made my insecurities begin to knock on my door again, it was just for me to open it.  I watched as she fell into his arms and hugged him with so much passion and he hugged back. I stood there arkwardly not knowing what to do.

" Oh my gosh its been a while Rah. I didn't know you was back from college" she beamed looking at him as she completely ignored my presence. As she spoke, she flipped her long curly hair back batting her eyelashes at Rashad making me frown at the way she had taken his attention from me.

It was because She was everything I was not.

This is Kaylen yall

I was so stuck in my thoughts that I didn't hear Rahshad mention my name.

"Summer baby" he whispered and my head snapped to him. " You remember Kaylen from school?" he asked

I looked at her " Um yeah" I lied

Rashad smiled as he wrapped his arm around my waist " This my mammas now" he looked at me licking his lips making me blush.

She looked at me up and down with a smile that was crystal clear fake. " Great" she said as she scanned me from head to toe before turning back to Rashad  " My mom is here and she asked for you"

" Really Ms. Rodriguez pulled up?" he asked removing his arm from around me

" Yeah come on lets go see her" she took her hand in hers and began pulling him along with her.

" Be right back Sum" he said quickly before leaving me standing there.

I slowly opened the door and watch my insecurities walk in.

JAH

"Ayo ain't that yo girl" Von said pointing in a direction. I was at Mrs.Johnson cookout chillin with a few guys from my trap, because Rashad and Trey were preoccupied.  I looked and my jaw clenched at the sight.

Jhene actually brought ole dude here. She playin mad disrespectful.

My anger grew as I watched her laugh and blush as he had his arms wrapped around her waist whispering in her ear.

Fuck this nigga think he is.

"Imma be right back" I muttered as I made my way to them. I smirked as I saw Jhene smile disappear as our eyes met as I was nearing closer.

JHENE

" Sup jay" I rolled my eyes as he had finally reached Dante and I.

"Coo" I responded coldly as I diverted  my attention back to Dante

He nodded and turned to Dante. I could see the fire in his eyes as he looked at Dante, but Dante looked unbothered by his antics. "Who you ma nigga" he asked Dante with each word spitting out like venom from his mouth

"Jah just leave us-"

"I'm Jhene's nigga what's it to you nigga" Dante sized him back up

"Nigga you in my hood you better recognised" Jah responded, obviously surprised by Dante's boldness

" And you fucking with my girl and I don't play bout her ass. So you better know yo place cause I wont hesitate to turn this whole spot up nigga. Continue fucking wid her" Dante said as his jaw clenched. I was shocked because Dante was always cool and seeing him act like this, made me wanna throw it all on him.

Jhene focus

I stood between them and and gently pushed Jah back by his chest making him swat my hand away harshly and in a swift motion Daate  pulled me behind him and pushed Jah so hard that he stumbled back and fell "Don't be putting yo hands on her ma nigga"

Before things could escalate a guy was already holding back Jah while Trey was holding back Dante.

"Let me the fuck go!! This nigga think he can come up in my hood and disrespect me" Jah shouted

"Pussy ass nigga Imma continue to disrespect yo ass until you stop fucking with what's mine. Fuck outta here" Dante shouted back

" I swear yo head is mine" Jah shouted as he tried to get loose

" Come thru witcho bitch ass, and watch me put yo face on yo niggas  t-shirts!!" Dante shouted back as he tried to rush Jah again

" Ayee Aye Aye!!" my momma shouted as she stood between us "Everyone is here for a good time, now if you boys wanna fuck shit up, do it outta here. I ain't havin that shit up in here. Respect my god damn yard!!!" she shouted with anger .

" Fuck off of me" Dante muttered as he pulled away from Trey's grip and walked off.

"Go get yo man Jay. Jah's bitch ass need to know he lost his fuckin' chance" Trina who came beside me said. I  nodded and ran after him. I ran to the front yard and saw him getting in his car

" Dante!" I shouted as I ran to stop him before he could get in.

" Move man, I ain't wanna be here right nah, cause I ain't ma self when I'm mad"  he looked at me. His eyes were filled with anger and he was breathing heavy.

I took his hand into mine. "Take me with you. I wanna leave with you"

" I ain't want you around me when I'm like this ma. I ain't even wanted you to see me like that back there. You should go back to yo mamas cookout. Imma hit u up later" he said turning to open his door again but I stopped him

" Please take me with you" I begged again.

He stared into my eyes, staring into my soul as his jaw clenched and unclenched. I stared back at him with the same intensity, trying  not to cave under his stare. "If I take you with me, know yo ass might be stuck with me mammas. You gon be turning against yo hood  if you continue fucking with me." he said  as he shook his head "I aint wanna put you in nuna that shit babygirl"

" If you're willing to risk it with me, I am too" I responded, knowing that I had meant every word that I had said. I was done with Jah. I was done holding onto the  hurt he made me feel for years. I wanna be happy, and for the past weeks, Dante was making it possible. I dont care if Jah wanna war Dante or my hood  begin to dislike Dante because of Jah. All I knew was that Dante was what I wanted. I couldn't say if it was love but I knew that i felt something for him so deep that i was willing to risk it for him. Something that made me want to be his better half in these sinful times.

He nodded " Get in".

SUMMER

"Jah ass really had it comin" Trina laughed as we sat at the table "But I ain't know Dante had it in him tho. I was like 'ooouuu li daddy hood hood' " Trina laughed. I chuckled but my mind wasn't really with Trina. It was on the other end of the yard where Rashad stood talking to Kaylen again. After the scene that had unfold with Jah and Dante, Rahshad came to make sure that i was safe. As we were  starting to talk we was interupted by kaylen once again. He was so engrossed in the conversation with her that he didnt even realise that i went for a drink for about an hour now.

I watched my insecurities sitting on the seat  opposite of me and i knew that it was gonna be here for a while.

I looked at Kaylen as she laughed at something Rashad said. I looked at the way she kept his attention effortlessly and he wasnt even bothered by me. Maybe because  she was everything im not. She had everything.

Trina eyes followed mine then she smacked her lips " I know you aint boutta sit here and watch Kaylen hoe ass be all up on yo nigga."

My head snapped towards her " You know her too?"

Trina nodded " Who doesnt, she was always tryna spit game to Rah since he was in highschool with us. Dont act like you aint remember that shit? "

"I left him for about an hour now and he hasnt even noticed. He probably feeling her, I mean look at her, she's everything any girl wanna be"

" No hunny, she everything an STD carrying hoe wanna be. Your ass beautiful as fuck Summer, dont let her make you feel bad about yourself. Rashad ass needs to be taught a lesson also for leavin you like that. But deal with his ass later, deal with Kaylen' now"

I looked down contemplating on what Trina said before gettin up  and dusting off my clothes " Imma be right back" I said and Trina smiled

" You better show her like Dante showed Rah today"

I laughed as I made my way to Rashad and Kaylen. " Hi baby" i said sweetly while pulling his face into a long tongue kiss. I pulled away and he bit his lip lookin down at me.

" What you on ma?" his voice came out raspy. I looked in the corner of my eye and saw kaylen fuming with anger and jealousy.

Confidence Summer

I bit my lip seductively  " Come on and lemme show you" I said pulling him and he left without even looking back. I glimpse Trina showing me a a thumbs up and i smirked.

As I looked at my insecurities sitting infront of me, my phone rang ..............It was CONFIDENCE calling.
