Shen Yan took the warm water to the living room and sat down. Just as she was about to drink it, she heard a strange voice.

Shen Yan could not help but clench the feed in her hand. She turned around and saw Lu Yan standing at the door. He was still wearing his apron.

The parrot was like a recorder, repeating the same words over and over again.

“This parrot was given to me by a friend. It’s quite smart, so I just casually taught it a few words.” As Lu Yan spoke, he took the feed from Shen Yan’s hand and handed it to the parrot.

Now that the parrot had food in its mouth, it finally stopped talking. Shen Yan lowered her eyes slightly. The words that the parrot had said just now were still lingering in her ears, making her feel flustered. After Lu Yan fed the parrot, he saw Shen Yan standing in the same place with her head lowered. A trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He smiled and said, “The hotpot has been cooked, and the dishes are ready. You can eat it in a while.”

When Shen Yan heard Lu Yan’s words, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. She asked, “Are you really going to make hotpot at home?”

“Of course.” Lu Yan smiled gently.

Shen Yan followed him to the kitchen.

Lu Yan was cutting fruits in the kitchen when his movements suddenly halted. He turned to look at Shen Yan. “Can you do me a favor?” He glanced at Shen Yan without blinking, and his eyes were full of affection.

Shen Yan pretended not to see the emotions in Lu Yan’s eyes and asked, “What favor?”

“My apron seems to have loosened. Please help me tie it again.” Lu Yan’s back was facing Shen Yan, revealing the slightly loosened apron strap.

“Okay.”

This small matter was not considered a favor, so Shen Yan agreed without hesitation.

After helping Lu Yan tie a bow, Shen Yan loosened her hand and said, “It’s done.”

“I still have a big favor to ask of you,” Lu Yan said and suddenly turned to stand opposite Shen Yan.

Seeing that Lu Yan was so close to her, Shen Yan couldn’t help but take a step back.

Lu Yan lowered his head slightly and raised his hand to point at his forehead. His pair of gentle eyes met hers. “Can you help me wipe this place?”
