Willette nodded with a smile, “You need to make him go crazy, so that you can divorce him and finally get out of this mess.”

“Sis, you’re really amazing. If brother-in-law ever disappoints you, you won’t let him off easy,” Nydia said.

Willette sighed before replying, “Yeah, I told him I have a fiancé, but he didn’t listen. He said that liking me is his own business and that he just wants to silently protect me. What should I do? I can’t let Barclay misunderstand.”

“You’re so popular now, sis. You don’t have to rush into marriage. You can take your time and choose carefully. Who knows, there might be someone even better out there?” Nydia noticed the smug look in Willette’s eyes. Willette loved being surrounded by affection and this was also the reason why she and Barclay hadn’t gotten married yet. She always felt that Barclay wasn’t the perfect husband candidate she had in mind. She believed that there were better men who would like her, and only the best men were worthy of her. Jesse was initially her top choice, but a car accident had left him worse than an ordinary person.

It had been a while since the two of them had chatted like this. Nydia was skilled in talking to her and tried to draw out her words.

Before long, Cade and Laura came back, and the four of them sat down to have dinner together.

“Nydia, when are you bringing the kids over to stay for a few days? I miss them,” Laura said.

“Well… Jesse doesn’t trust me to take the kids out,” Nydia said hesitantly.

“Have you ever tested Jesse to see if you’ll get one child each if you divorce, or if you won’t get any at all?” Cade asked.

Willette immediately spoke up, “Nydia, the kids can live well with Jesse. If he won’t give them to you, then that’s that. Right now, the most important thing is for you to get out of this mess. You’re still young and can have more children.”

“Yeah, Jesse won’t mistreat the children, but you can’t let him off easily. You gave birth to two children for him, so you must get your fair share of the property. Don’t settle for less,” Cade added.

Nydia’s hand paused as she picked up her food.
