Chapter 178
Reborn Before The Divorce
Willette left the room and locked the door again.
Nydia rolled her eyes fiercely.
She quickly went back and finished the remaining food. If it was just one meal, Nydia wouldnât be able to finish it, but two meals would be just enough, and she ate it cleanly before hiding the food box.
There was no need to starve herself. She could stay up all night to create a haggard look.
She didnât know how Jesse would handle this matter, but she had seen the situation online. The netizens were already confused, and the gossip was like a TV series with constant plot twists. Everyone wanted to find out the truth.
During dinner time, the Malones sat together to eat.
âArenât we going to send Nydia some food?â Laura asked.
âNo need. She wonât die from being hungry for a day,â Willette said lightly. âIt might even have a better effect tomorrow.â
âWhat if she says something wrong when facing the media tomorrow morning?â Laura was still afraid of Jesse.
âIs that possible? Will she choose Jesse over us?â Willette still had confidence. She believed Nydia was just afraid of Jesseâs revenge, and not that she didnât want to leave Jesse. As long as they do some more convincing tomorrow morning, she didnât believe that Nydia wouldnât listen to her.
âDonât worry, Nydia is under our control,â Cade said. He had doubted Nydia before, but today, Nydia had come to the Malone Villa stupidly by herself and had been locked up. He felt that he had been overthinking it before.
âWhat if Jesse comes looking for her?â Laura asked, still a little afraid of Jesse.
âHe? He and Nydia already had a rift between them. He probably thinks Nydia is the one behind this and now heâs hiding out at our house,â Willette said. She wasnât worried about Jesse coming to their door. If Jesse sees that tweet, heâll assume that Nydia is the culprit and heâll hate her for it. If he turns off his phone, this misunderstanding between them will be solidified.
âOkay,â Laura said, feeling a bit uneasy but seeing that her husband and daughter were so certain, she didnât dwell on it.
Meanwhile, Jesse didnât go home. He was in the office dealing with business, and there was still half an hour until the media interview.
âBoss, you should eat something,â Vergil reminded him.
âI donât need to.â
âMissus instructed me to make sure you eat. If you donât eat, I wonât be able to explain it to her.â
âWhen did you start listening to her?â Jesse frowned.
This was the experience Vergil had gained from serving Jesse for so long. He could pick up on Jesseâs subtle emotional changes.
âBoss, you know Missus has been targeting me recently and wants to get rid of me. If I donât make sure you eat well, sheâll have an excuse.â
âJust make a sandwich.â
âYou need nutrition⦠Iâll go now.â Vergil wanted to say ânutritionally balanced,â but he couldnât when he saw Jesseâs expression. He hurried to make a sandwich.
Boss still cared about him. He ate his meal obediently to keep Vergil from leaving. How touching! He made a sandwich and grabbed a banana.
When Jesse saw the banana, he frowned.
âThis is extra from when I prepared it for Missus today. Please eat it. Bananas are nutritious,â Vergil said.
After taking a bite, Jesse said coldly, âBuy better bananas next time.â
âThe time was tight. Then donât eat it,â Vergil said.
However, Jesse had already finished the banana.
When it was ten minutes before seven, Vergil rushed over to the media reporters. âIâm sorry, the interview has been moved up. Is that okay?â
âSure, of course!â They thought the interview had been canceled when they saw Vergilâs face, so they were more than happy to start early. Jesse had requested that they do the interview via livestream, so starting ten minutes early was no problem at all.
Someone immediately sent a message back to inform everyone in the department. In fact, there were already many people waiting in the livestream room.
âWhat happened?â The reporter noticed that Vergil didnât look too good.
âMissus is missing,â Vergil whispered.
âDonât start the livestream yet. Iâll tell you when to start,â Jesse instructed.
