Chapter 190
Reborn Before The Divorce
âCar accidents are unpredictable. No one knows what will happen, right?â After taking a sip of wine, Barclay continued, âWho knows which will come first, accidents or tomorrow?â
âRight, accidents and tomorrow may come together.â
Cade felt better, thinking that Barclay wasnât bad. Although the Evans family couldnât compare to the Pascall family, with Barclayâs hard work and cooperation with the Malone family, they could surpass the Pascall family.
The Pascall familyâs advantage was its family background. Even if something happened before, it was still strong. It wasnât Jesseâs ability alone. Without the Pascall Group, Jesse might not even be able to compete with Barclay.
Otherwise, he wouldnât have advocated for Nydia to marry Jesse and had his daughter withdraw.
The person responsible for monitoring Cadeâs situation reported back to Vergil. Jesse knew that Cade had called Barclay to his home, and he knew they were discussing something.
âBoss, do you think Cade will give up the Cannon familyâs business?â
âHe will,â Jesse replied firmly.
âWill the Cannons agree?â
âAs long as we donât give it to the Malones, theyâll agree.â
Vergil didnât understand why they were doing this thankless task, but Jesse clearly didnât want to talk about it.
âBy the way, Missus called and asked you to come home for dinner.â
Jesse immediately frowned, but before he could say anything, Vergil interrupted, âI didnât have time to refuse before she hung up.â
âIâm not favoring your wife, and Iâm not close to her. Please donât be angry or jealous,â Vergil murmured in his mind.
âWe still have so much work to do, letâs focus on that,â Jesse replied.
âDo you want me to prepare something for you to eat?â Vergil asked.
âNo need,â Jesse declined.
Heâs not eating again? Vergil thought to himself. If Missus finds out that Boss didnât have dinner, Vergil will be in trouble.
Why is he stuck in the middle of this?
Vergil was about to say something, but the cold gaze from Jesse made him shut his mouth.
Fine, heâll keep quiet. Itâs his own body, and as long as heâs happy, itâs okay.
But then Jesseâs phone rang, and it was Nydia calling.
He hesitated for a moment, then decided to put it on silent and not answer.
But then another call came in.
âHello?â Jesse answered.
âDoesnât your boss want to go home and have dinner?â Nydia asked.
âBoss still has work to do,â Vergil replied.
âDid you buy food for him?â Nydia inquired.
Vergil was caught off guard.
âOkay, I see,â Nydia said.
âWhat do you see?â Vergil was confused.
Just as Vergil was wondering what was going on, Nydia called again.
When he answered, he heard Nydiaâs voice saying, âCome to the elevator.â
âWhat?â Vergil asked.
He took his phone and headed towards the elevator, and when he got there, he saw that the elevator was slowly ascending. Soon after, the door opened, and Nydia was inside.
âMissus?â
âGive him this,â Nydia handed him a food box.
After Vergil took it, Nydia closed the elevator door and left.
Did she come here just to bring dinner?
Could it be poisoned?
Itâs too obvious if itâs poisoned, Vergil thought to himself. He didnât think that was likely.
He walked into the office holding the food box.
âBoss, this is dinner that your wife brought for you. Do you want to eat it?â Vergil asked. If you donât eat it, I can have it.
Jesse frowned, âWhere is she?â
âShe gave me the food box and left,â Vergil replied.
Jesse opened the food box and saw several exquisite dishes, each in its own container.
