Chapter 22
Reborn Before The Divorce
Nydia finally managed to put on her dress. She adjusted her hair and pointed to the wound on her neck.
âHow should I deal with this?â
Jesse brought the first aid kit over and disinfected Nydiaâs wound. Then he wrapped it up with gauze so that the two rows of stitches wouldnât be visible, in case the two children asked about it.
He saw that Nydia didnât move.
âArenât you leaving yet?â
âIf possible, could you give me the electronic version of the plan? Iâll make some modifications and send it to Barclay. This can be done under your supervision. When you canât supervise me, you can take away all my communication devices, and I wonât go out.â
She looked at Jesse calmly, allowing him to stare at her without flinching.
âI know that you canât believe anything I say or do now, but if we can use this opportunity to strike a heavy blow to Barclay, then he wonât be able to stand firm in the Evans Group and wonât be as comfortable in the Malone Villa.â
Jesse still didnât speak.
âAs for the reason, the one I mentioned earlier is part of it. The other part is that I suspect that our affair was planned by the two of them.â
At this point, Jesseâs expression finally changed.
âOh? Thatâs new.â
From the moment the incident happened until just now, Nydia believed that Jesse was behind it, that he had ruined her life, and thus hated him. Now she suddenly didnât suspect him anymore?
âI carefully recalled the past events, and when I analyzed the matter without bias, the possibility of Willette and Barclay colluding to plan against me is greater. I will investigate it thoroughly.â
She would investigate everything thoroughly and wouldnât be confused anymore.
âI didnât expect that drowning once would actually cure your brain.â Jesse didnât say anything, but this sentence fully affirmed Nydiaâs speculation.
When she first married him, he explained this matter to her, but she didnât believe it and stubbornly believed that he was the one who planned it.
âYeah, now I am better. Iâm still waiting for you to heal me.â She half-jokingly said, with a playful smile on her face.
Jesse was stunned.
He rarely saw Nydia smile like this, clean and pure without a trace of impurity. Since she woke up from drowning, he seemed to have never seen her cold face, almost always with a gentle expression, and even occasionally a few charming smiles.
âYou think about the plan, if youâre willing, just tell me. If youâre not, then forget I mentioned it. Iâm going out first.â
She had said everything she needed to say, but if Jesse still didnât believe her, there was nothing she could do. If she couldnât get the plan, at most, she would be despised by Willette and Barclay for a while. They wouldnât let go of such a big fish like her.
As her hand reached for the door handle of the study, Jesseâs voice came from behind.
âDonât you want to ask me why I can stand up?â
Nydia turned around and said honestly, âI want to ask, but Iâm too afraid to.â
The issue with his leg had always been a sensitive topic for him. Jesse remembered the incident when she fought with Mrs. Wollridge and didnât let him know that others called him a cripple. If she really wanted to provoke him, she could have said it, and it didnât have much to do with her.
âYou can go out now.â Jesse didnât say anything more.
âOkay, rest early. Good night.â
Back in the bedroom, she took a quick shower. The wound on her neck still hurt a bit. Tomorrow, she would have to wear a higher collar to cover it up.
Lying on the bed, she thought about Jesseâs legs.
