The phone rang for a while before Nydia answered it.

“Hello,” Jesse could hear the detachment in her voice.

“Where are you?”

“I’m at the restaurant. I thought I’d come over and see the renovations,” her voice was distant.

“When will you be back?”

The conversation between the two sounded very stiff.

After a moment of silence, Nydia answered, “Later.”

She still didn’t know how to face him.

Nydia hung up the phone after she finished talking.

She just stood there for a while in a daze.

Nydia moved aside and watched the workers doing renovations.

Molly’s mood improved when she saw Nydia’s actions.

When Nydia finished showering, Molly immediately went over and hugged her. “Mommy, you smell so good, I love it!”

“Today Mommy went to see the restaurant renovation. When the restaurant is renovated, do you want Mommy to take you to play there?” She lifted Molly up and sat her on her lap.
