Chapter 319 Almost Caught by Jesse
Reborn Before The Divorce
Willette felt a suffocating pain and her face turned red as she tried to pry off Barclayâs hand. But she couldnât muster enough strength, and Barclay was too strong. She felt like she was dying, and her vision was blur while her ears could barely hear anything.
âHelp⦠Helpâ¦â she struggled to say.
âCough, cough, coughâ¦â
Barclay let go of her, and she fell to the ground coughing and gasping for air. The feeling of being on the brink of death terrified her.
âIâll ask you again. Whose child is in your belly?â Barclay squatted down to meet her gaze, his cold eyes making her shiver.
Willetteâs throat was sore, and she swallowed a mouthful of saliva before answering, âItâs yours, yours.â
She couldnât say it was Jasperâs, otherwise she felt Barclay would kill her! Plus, she thought the child was more likely to be Barclayâs, given they had been together more frequently than her and Jasper.
âIs that so? Donât lie to me. If I find out later that the child isnât mine, you should know the consequences.â Barclay touched Willetteâs face, speaking in a soft tone that felt heavy to her heart, making her dizzy.
The current Barclay felt strange to her, as if she was meeting him for the first time. The old Barclay wouldnât hit her. But just now, he had slapped her twice and tried to strangle her, which made her panic.
Willetteâs situation quickly became a hot topic on Twitter. With so many guests present, someone must have filmed it with their phone and posted it on their social media account.
In no time, everyone knew about it.
This was the second time that Willette had received so much attention, the first being when she locked Nydia in her house, and Jesse came knocking.
At Pascallâs Villa.
Nydia was scrolling through her social media account when she saw many posts about Willetteâs wedding. After a while, she lost interest and stopped.
Jasper was a godsend. After Barclay dealt with him, the Ruiz family and the Evans family would become enemies. This would inevitably lead to more enemies for the Evans family.
âTavish, why did you suddenly bring up Jasper today?â Nydia found it strange that Tavish, who hadnât seen Jasper in so long and only met him once, would suddenly bring him up.
âOh, isnât Willette getting married? I remembered Jasper I saw at the resort last time. I donât understand if Willette likes Barclay or Jasper,â Tavish looked puzzled.
Nydia thought she was overthinking it. Tavish was just a child who wasnât even five yet.
âMommy, whatâs wrong?â
âItâs okay.â She smiled and touched Tavishâs head.
âMommy, what was your and Daddyâs wedding like? Molly and I havenât seen it,â Tavish asked.
Nydia froze. This⦠she was almost scowling the whole time and didnât want the two children to see it.
Tavish remembered the situation and immediately had an idea, âMommy, how about you and Daddy have another wedding? Then Molly and I can participate.â
Nydiaâs heart was stabbed at the thought. How was she going to tell Tavish about the divorce, and Jesse asked Tavish to stay.
Less than three months left.
âWe have to ask your Daddy about this,â Nydia felt that what she said wasnât entirely untrue, as it was about Jesse.
Tavish nodded and didnât continue the topic.
After the two children went to bed, Nydia was thinking about how to treat Jesseâs illness tonight. It wouldnât be so easy if they didnât sleep together tonight.
She suddenly had a headache.
âMissus, the master is calling you to the study.â
Nydia went to the study to find Jesse.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âDid you do what happened today?â Jesse asked.
âNo, I thought it was you,â Nydia was surprised. She really thought it was Jesse who did it.
Jesseâs fingers lightly tapped on the table.
âWhose child is Willette carrying?â His voice sounded somewhat indifferent.
âIâm not sure, but I think even Willette herself doesnât know if itâs Jasperâs or Barclayâs. If itâs Jasperâs, sheâll definitely abort it. If itâs Barclayâs, then she doesnât have to worry so much,â Nydia said honestly.
âHow many people know about Willetteâs pregnancy?â
Nydia couldnât quite figure out Jesseâs plan, but she answered truthfully.
âCade and his wife, as well as me. She went to the hospital for an examination the next day. I donât know who else knows.â
Jesse nodded.
âWhat did you mean by heavy rain last time?â
At this question, Nydiaâs mind flashed back to Jesseâs previous words: heavy rain, danger, donât go to work, Iâll give you money.
That two million, she hadnât touched it yet.
âIt means there will be continuous heavy rain, which may cause serious flooding.â
âHow do you know?â
Nydia smiled, âWhy do you care how I know? But you wouldnât believe me anyway. Is there anything else? If not, Iâll go first.â
She knew that by saying this, Jesse would actually believe her.
But she had said what she needed to say, and whether he believed her or not, she no longer cared.
âGo out,â Jesse said.
Nydia thought that Jesse seemed a bit⦠conflicted at the moment. He wasnât as cold as he had been before, but he still seemed distant.
After she walked out, she wondered if Jesse had asked her about those two days. Did he completely forget or did he remember something?
Jesse pinched his brow. His memory stopped at flipping a table full of food, but he couldnât remember anything that happened afterward. The next thing he remembered was waking up in bed with Nydia. What happened in between?
He knew that he couldnât ask Nydia about it.
The phone rang.
âSir, we have taught Jasper a lesson as you instructed.â
âHas there been any movement on Barclayâs side?â
âBarclay has taken Willette back to their wedding room, and there hasnât been any movement since.â
âOkay, keep an eye on them.â
Jesse was about to hang up when he remembered the heavy rain that was expected.
âHave the staff check the warehouse in the next few days. Donât store anything that is sensitive to water in the lower part of the warehouse. Make sure to make some emergency plans for next weekâs heavy rain.â
Vergil was a bit surprised. Why did Jesse suddenly make this decision? But he didnât ask and agreed to arrange everything tomorrow.
There was a knock on the study door again.
âCome in.â
Nydia came back.
Jesse raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
âRemember to take your medicine,â Nydia said.
âWhat medicine?â Jesse frowned.
âYesterday, I took you to see a doctor. The doctor said your problem is quite serious, and you need to take medicine on time.â Nydiaâs expression was indifferent, as if she was advising a regular friend, and there was no obvious concern in her eyes.
âIf youâre curious about what happened in the past two days, I can tell you,â Nydia said kindly.
âGet out.â
ââ¦â
Nydia rolled her eyes and left. At least she had reminded him. If he refused to listen, then it was his own problem.
Truth be told, Jesse was more adorable when he was clingy.
Nydia set her alarm clock for 2 a. m. again. When it went off, she entered through the window as she had before, but found that Jesse wasnât in bed.
Damn it! Did Jesse not come back to his room to sleep?
Suddenly, there was a sound at the door, and Nydia panicked. What should she do if Jesse caught her? She looked under the bed, made a quick decision, and crawled under it.
At that moment, the door opened.
