Chapter 359 A Man Looks Handsome When He Gives Money

Jesse asked Nydia to have dinner first before discussing the matter at hand. He said to Molly and Tavish, “Be careful at school lately. Don’t follow strangers or meet strangers.”

“Daddy, what’s going on?” Molly asked.

Tavish’s face turned serious. He knew something had happened, and negative news about their parents had been spreading online.

“Some bad guys want to harm Mommy and Daddy, so Daddy is worried that someone might harm you. If someone comes to school looking for you, don’t meet them. Contact Daddy or Mommy immediately.”

“Make sure you wear your phone watches,” he added.

Molly and Tavish realized the seriousness of the situation and were obedient, as they were more mature than other children their age.

“Daddy, you have to protect Mommy,” Molly said seriously.

“Mommy, you have to protect Daddy too. You have to protect each other, safety comes first,” Tavish said.

Everyone had no objections to what Molly said, but Tavish’s words undoubtedly warmed Jesse’s heart, making his face soften.

Nydia touched Tavish’s head and said, “We will work together as a family to get through this difficult time!”

The phrase “as a family” shone like a beam of light into Jesse’s world, allowing him to see the dawn while he was in the darkness. Suddenly, he didn’t feel like getting a divorce anymore.

After dinner, Nydia followed Jesse to the study to discuss the matter.

“Tell me what happened today,” Jesse said.

“Some marketing account stirred up trouble and revealed that I was a designer at Malone Group. Then Cade and a few shareholders talked to me, asking me to compensate for their losses,” Nydia replied.

Jesse sneered, “One is good and the other is bad?”

Nydia immediately gave him a thumbs up. “Exactly. I told them to give me a month to try and recover the losses. If I can’t do it, I’ll compensate and resign.”

“That’s smart.” Jesse had no objections to her handling of the situation.

“The over three million that I received before is probably making them uncomfortable. They’re trying to figure out a way to get it back. But what do you plan to do? Do you think it’s only Barclay’s doing behind the scenes?”

“At first, it was probably only Barclay, but as the situation escalates, there will naturally be other people who come out to mess up.”

“You don’t seem to be in a hurry. Do you have a plan?”

“I’m taking this time to see which of these people are allies and which are foes.”

In that case, Nydia didn’t need to worry.

“By the way, did you sell Evans’ stocks? I bought some today and I think it will rise further.” Jesse’s eyebrows lifted slightly, seeming a bit surprised.

“Why? Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder?” Nydia’s lips curled upwards, with a hint of pride in her smile.

“Yes, sir!” Nydia stood at attention and saluted.

“What’s the deal with the flat tires?” he asked, coming back to reality.

“I don’t know if it’s someone who was unhappy and did it intentionally or if Cade had someone do it. All four tires were punctured and it’s not cheap to replace them. Should we report it?”

“No need, we’ll handle it privately after we find out who did it.”

“Here’s a photo of the person, but only their back is visible and they’re wearing gloves, so I can’t tell their gender. A woman who’s 175cm tall isn’t impossible, or a 170cm woman wearing 5cm high-heeled shoes could also be possible. The person is wearing Martin boots, which already have a heel, so it’s hard to tell if they’ve added a lift inside.”

“Don’t you know some really great hackers? I’m sure they could find out.”

Why did Jesse feel like he was mocking her?

She felt a bit embarrassed all of a sudden.

“I also bought some Pascall’s stocks.”

Jesse raised an eyebrow and asked, “How much did you buy?”

Nydia held up two fingers. “Two million. I don’t have much money.”

Jesse then operated his phone and her phone beeped with a notification. She picked it up and was shocked by what she saw.

“Continue to buy tomorrow, it will still drop,” he said.

“As the person in charge of Pascall’s, isn’t your attitude a bit…”

“If I have the opportunity to make money, why not take it?”

“What if it doesn’t rise again?” Even though she knew it was unlikely, Jesse’s attitude still made her angry.

“Then it’ll just be my loss.”

“… Why does this guy talk like he’s asking for a beating?!” Nydia left the study and went back to her bedroom.

She contacted a hacker to help identify the person in the photo.

“Is it too much trouble for you? I feel like I always ask you to do trivial things. As a hacker like you, you should only take on big jobs, right?”

“Yes, I only take on big jobs.”

This made Nydia even more embarrassed. But the next second, she heard the hacker say:

“Like finding an Tencent account, recovering chat records, or checking his chat records.”

“… That’s a big deal.”

No wonder this person knew Alfie, he was just as weird as him.

“That would be great, I’ll transfer the deposit to you first and the remaining amount when you find the person.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up the hacker’s call, Nydia remembered the bug she had installed in Barclay’s bedroom a while ago. She hadn’t listened to it for a long time, mainly because Barclay and Willette lived in the marital home, and he rarely went back to his own place, so there wasn’t much to listen to. But now, in this situation, she thought she would try her luck.

When she put on her headphones to check the audio, she found that there was actually something recorded. By looking at the waveform, she could tell which parts had sound. She immediately selected a few segments to listen to and was excited when she found a section where Barclay was making a call, asking someone to pretend to be a disaster victim, and then he would go and deliver some warmth. Nydia quickly edited these audio clips and put them on a USB drive.

When she went back to the study, she found that Jesse wasn’t there. After looking for him for a while, she found him in the bathroom. She asked if she could come in, and then went in to see Jesse sitting in the bathtub taking a bath. “You really like taking baths,” she said.

Jesse didn’t say anything, his ears turning slightly rosy. He didn’t want to tell Nydia that his leg had gotten better from taking baths yet, he wanted to wait until it was even more healed before saying anything. “Can I get the new bath herbs?” Nydia asked.

She quickly ran back to her own studio and grabbed the bath herbs she had prepared for Jesse a long time ago. Her studio was full of things, from sewing machines to various pharmaceutical tools. She usually kept everything tidy, so that when people walked in, they wouldn’t see all her equipment at once.

“Here, this is the new bath herb pack. I’ll put one in.” Nydia threw the bath herb pack into the water.

As she did this, she couldn’t help but look down and saw something. “Have you seen enough?” Jesse asked, leaning against the bath.

“I’ve seen enough, you’re not exactly a looker,” Nydia said disdainfully.

Jesse immediately felt upset. “I remember you like to eat ugly oranges.”

“So what?” Nydia didn’t immediately understand.

“So you like things that are ugly but taste good,” Jesse said.

Damn!

Nydia almost stumbled. Was this guy on a rocket ship or something?

Seeing the look of shock on Nydia’s face, Jesse couldn’t help but think that she was cute. He missed the shy and soft man he used to be at the beginning. Now he was like an old man, and he deserved a beating! However, Nydia didn’t know that Jesse was actually very calm at the moment, and his muscles were tense.

“Do you want to take a bath together?” Jesse suddenly invited her.
