I Quit Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons ) Chapter 143
I Quit, Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons )
Chapter 143
Angelina sat down and began taunting Isabella, âI told you that you couldnât
keep your job as head secretary just by sleeping with men.â
Isabella had been facing numerous obstacles lately. She wasnât even fazed
when Angelina openly confronted her. âOh, so youâre a fortune teller.
Congratulations.â She raised her hands and clapped casually.
The look in Angelinaâs eyes turned icy. With disgust, she said, âYou have no
shame.â
âAnd thatâs none of your business.â Isabella stopped clapping and placed her
hands on the edge of the table. She calmly looked at Angelina and adopted
a more arrogant expression. âYour job is to question. Lecturing me is not part
of it. Thereâs a surveillance camera in this room, so I can sue you for personal
attack.â
âDonât give me that nonsense.â Angelina sneered. Confident that Isabella was
only pretending, she said, âA worthless person like Selena stole your job, and
you think you can talk to me as if youâre superior?â
Isabella tapped her fingers on the table and smiled. âStole?â She pulled her
2/6
hands back and crossed her arms, then leaned back. âAnd what makes you-
think she stole it from me?â
âDonât tell me you gave it to her,â Angelina mocked, refusing to fall into
Isabellaâs trap.
Isabella tilted her head and rested her chin on her hand. âIf she could steal
my job, then why did Mr. Shaffer carry me on his back?â
Angelina froze for a moment. She was reminded of what the other
secretaries had said, and she felt a little uncertain. Before she entered, Jason
had told her not to go too far, but Angelina disregarded all reason the
moment she saw Isabella. All she wanted to do was humiliate her former
enemy.
Since Angelina fell silent, Isabella had no interest in talking too much. âYour
job is to question. Shouldnât you start now?â
Annoyed that she couldnât insult Isabella, Angelina angrily pulled out her
notebook. âWhat kind of relationship do you have with Jonas?â
âNot a close one. Heâs my boss.â
âNot a close one?â Angelina sneered. âHe took you on a business trip alone
with him, and even after you stole nearly 75 grand worth of sales from him,
he remained silent.â
Isabella sat up straighter. âYou got one thing wrong. I didnât steal the sales.â

Angelina rolled her eyes and retorted, âDonât tell me he gave them to you for
free.â
Isabella shrugged nonchalantly. âGood guess. He did give them to me for
free.â
âIsabella!â Angelina slammed her notebook on the table and warned, âJust
because you have a special relationship with Mr. Shaffer doesnât mean you
can say whatever you want. Weâre not suing you only because you
contributed to the company. Otherwise, you would be facing the police right
now. This crime involves 75 grand.â
Isabella wasnât scared at all. âIf you can sue me, go ahead.â
Angelinaâs eyes widened, her sunken eyes looking even more droopy, and
she appeared crueler than ever. Isabella was amused. The more Angelina
wanted to get her in trouble, the calmer she became. The last remnants of
her fear were gone.

Angelina warned, âYou can remain silent, but the results of the investigation
wonât change. You wonât get away with this.â
Isabellaâs smile faded away. She stared into Angelinaâs eyes and explained,
âFirst, I did go on a business trip with Jonas, but that was punishment for
being dead last in the sales department. Second, I got credited for the sales
for reasons I donât know. I never claimed them.â She leaned back in her chair
and emphasized, âYou have a grudge against me. By all accounts, you have
no right to question me. I didnât bring up that conflict of interest for your sake.
Now, why donât we both take a step back? You do your job fairly, and Iâll be
honest. It makes it easier for both of us.â
Angelina couldnât believe Isabella could remain so calm even in this situation.
They used to be colleagues, and Angelina remembered that five years ago,
Isabella wasnât this confident. She tightly held her pen, the jealousy in her
heart burning through her soul, unable to be contained. âAnd Iâm using this
chance to get back at you. What are you going to do about it?â
Isabella raised an eyebrow and clicked her tongue. âThen itâs your unlucky
day.â
A frown creased Angelinaâs forehead. She looked at Isabella with suspicion
and asked, âWhat do you mean?â
5/6
Isabella shrugged and pushed her hair back from her cheeks. âYou can do
whatever you want, but whatever happens depends on Mr. Shaffer anyway.â
Isabella was making it sound flirtatious, as if she wanted to boast about her
relationship with Seth.
Angelina despised women like that. She grew angrier and narrowed her eyes.
âDream on. If he cared about you, he wouldnât have brought you here.â
Isabella appeared nonchalant. âIf thatâs what you think, then go ahead.
Stupidity canât be cured, and I canât be bothered to explain everything to you.â
Isabella closed her eyes, refusing to engage with Angelina any longer. âGet
someone else to question me, or I wonât talk.â
Angelina was shocked. She didnât expect Isabella to pull this trick, and it
caught her off guard. Seeing Isabellaâs beautiful face, she felt annoyed. She
stood up and was about to mock Isabella further, but then she shifted her
attention to Isabellaâs legs.
