I Quit Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons ) Chapter 181
I Quit, Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons )
Chapter 181
Gordon preferred not to push things too far, so when Isabella told him to wait,
he simply lay down on the bed and started playing with his phone.
It wasnât until 6:00 PM, when the sky darkened, that Isabella packed up and
prepared to leave.
Outside the hotel, a black Bentley was parked under a tree, resembling a
patient predator waiting for its prey to appear.
Unfortunately, the person inside the car didnât share the same patience. His
face had darkened to a shade akin to an inkstone.
Nicolas and the driver exchanged a glance, and Nicolas mustered the
courage to speak. âMr. Shaffer, itâs been three hours. Do you needâ¦â
The person in the backseat raised his gaze, and his piercing eyes reflected
from the rearview mirror. He silenced Nicolas, forcing him to swallow the
words on the tip of his tongue.
Nicolas felt a cold sweat on his back and wisely shut his mouth.

He prayed for Isabella to hurry out, hoping she wouldnât spend the night with
Gordon inside.
In the backseat, Sethâs hands were clasped, and his elbows were resting on
his knees. His lips were pressed tightly together, and an aura of tension
surrounded him.
After discussing some matters with Xavier, he left the study. Then, he
scanned the area and found no sign of Isabella.
Jordan reported that Isabella had gone to the hotel with Gordon.
He couldnât help but sneer with a twisted smile.
Isabella, you pretend to be a chaste and virtuous woman in front of
me,
but
youâre at a hotel with a man right now!
âIsabella probably has a legitimate reason to go to the hotel during the dayâ¦â
Nicolas spoke up again.
Seth chuckled lightly. His laughter was eerie and unsettling.
Tears welled up in Nicolasâ eyes. He almost kneeled and prayed on the spot.
At the hotel entrance, people went in, but no one came out.
As time passed and darkness fell, there was a good chance she would spend
the night at the hotel if she didnât come out now.
Nicolas started to feel anxious. He turned to Seth and said, âMr. Shaffer, letâs
go in and get Isabella out!â
Seth looked up at Nicolas, wearing an expression as if he was looking at a
fool.
âMe? Why would I go in and grab her?â
Nicolas was speechless.
â
This would seem too much like catching someone in the act. It was not in line
with Sethâs composed persona.
Seth closed his eyes briefly and weighed the situation. He would never use.
anything someone else had touched, but if Isabella didnât come out, it
probably meant thatâ¦
He rarely found himself hesitating like this. Upon reflection, he realized it had
happened several times recently, and it was all because of Isabella.
She was just an ordinary woman and not his wife. Why should he waste time
like this?
He suddenly opened his eyes and spoke in a deep voice. âLetâs go back to the
Shaffer Group.â
Nicolas was dumbfounded and utterly shocked. âAre we leaving already?!â
They had been waiting for several hours. What if she came out right after
Once Seth made a decision, he wouldnât hesitate anymore. He leaned back
against the seat, his face dark.
âSince when have you started questioning my decisions?â
Nicolas choked. He quickly swallowed the words he was about to say.
âIâm sorry, Mr. Shaffer.â
âMr. Dahn, is that Miss Symons?â
The driver, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke up.
He didnât even
bother to glance ahead.
At the mention, Nicolas was incredibly excited and looked outside quickly.
âMr. Shaffer, itâs Isabella!â
Outside the car, Isabella and Gordon emerged from a side door, walking side
by side and engaged in a conversation.
Gordon said, âThe security guard earlier wouldnât let me park outside, and I
couldnât be bothered to argue with him, so I just parked across the street.â
Isabella shrugged. âItâs fine. Letâs walk over.â
Gordon nodded. As they walked, they discussed food options.
Neither of them noticed the Bentley parked by the roadside. They hadnât
reached the opposite side yet and were waiting for the moment when the
traffic passed. The Bentleyâs engine suddenly started before carelessly
brushing past them and speeding over the puddles left by last nightâs rain.
As if in a dream, Isabella and Gordon stood in place while they were
splattered head to toe with mud.
âDang it! Is that person out of his mind?â
He let out a string of curses and creatively insulted the ownerâs entire lineage.
Meanwhile, Isabella looked extremely disheveled in a dress covered in mud..
She lifted her dress and squinted to see the culprit.
However, the car was too fast for her to catch the license plate. She could
only make out that it was a Bentley.
Gordon was furious and insisted on checking the security footage. He was
determined to find that guy and give him a beating.
9/11
Isabella felt helpless as she knew that those who drove a Bentley recklessly in
Imperia were either wealthy or powerful. They were not someone to be easily
confronted.
In an attempt to defuse the situation, she quickly persuaded Gordon to get in
the car.
He didnât stop complaining even after getting in.
He drove her back home, but his anger did not subside even at the doorstep.
.
As Isabella opened the car door to get out, he suddenly grabbed her wrist as
if remembering something.
âCould that reckless idiot be Seth?â
She paused for a moment, then smiled. âYouâre thinking too much. His time is
valuable; why would he appear there?â
He clicked his tongue and crossed his arms. âIs that so? Why would he bother
showing up at my grandmotherâs birthday banquet, then?â
Isabella was speechless.
That was indeed hard to justify.
Gordonâs expression turned grave as he gave Isabella a side-eye. âIs it
because of you?â
Isabella brushed aside some stray hairs from her cheek, shrugged, and said,
âIf I were prone to overthinking, I wouldnât have stayed by Sethâs side for five
years. He only focuses on core interests; even if he fools around, he knows
when to stop.â
Gordon pursed his lips and had nothing more to say.
