â¦She did not know how she was able to finish eating.
After finishing dinner at a faster pace than usual, Lisbeth took the letter and left the dining room as if she was running away.
She went straight to her room and closed the door as she entered. Then, with trembling fingertips, she opened the envelope and took out the letter.
ââ¦What.â
There was something quite unexpected written on it.
[Dear Lady Lisbeth Norden]
[How have you been? Your beautiful white skin, which I saw at the last party, still looks tempting to me. An elegant nose, pronounced collarbones that look like they could collect water when it rains, breasts that resemble hills that Iâm provoked to play withâ¦]
The content that came after became so obscene and embarrassing that she couldnât even talk about it. Lisbeth grew redder and redder. In the end, she ended up crumpling up the letter without finishing it. She didnât need to look at the perverted content written on the remaining lines.
âDisgusting.â
Only then did Lisbeth realize who had sent the letter.
âThis matches that crazy pervertâ¦â
Surely it was the pervert they had talked about in the afternoon at the Ezra Marquisate.
Lisbeth, with a frown of displeasure, moved the crumpled letter closer to the candlestick. The flames quickly spread across the paper. After a moment, only the ashes of the letter remained.
Lisbeth dusted off her hands, not caring to hide her displeasure.
âI have bad luck. Strange things are happening.â
If she had known this, she would have opened the letter in the dining room. Just when Lisbeth was feeling frustratedâ¦
Knock Knock Knock, Knock Knock, Knock
George knocked on the door to the rhythm they both knew. Lisbeth immediately opened the door and saw George with a worried expression.
âIs everything all right?â
ââ¦â¦â
âYou ate fast.â
ââ¦Yes, Iâm fine.â
âWhatâs this about a love letter? Who sent it to you?â
âGeorge, you know that crazy guy who writes perverted letters?â
ââ¦Yes?â
âSurely youâve heard of it. For the past 5 years, someone has been sending perverted letters anonymously to single ladies. It looks like I was the target this time.â
ââ¦What, did you get one of those letters?â
âYeah, itâs definitely that guy.â
âNo way⦠Are you sure?â
âNo way?â
Georgeâs reply, which seemed to indicate that he couldnât believe what she said, made Lisbeth feel indignant. âI read it myself, donât you believe me?â
âI believe youâ¦.â
George asked with intrigue,
âWhere is the letter? I have to see it.â
âNo, you donât need to see it. The contents were junk, so I crumpled it up and burned it.â
âWhat? Why did you burn it?â
âWhy? Did you want to have that nasty thing?â
âNo⦠We have to find the culprit.â
âWe canât find him. Itâs been a problem for five years and no one has caught him. A simple anonymous letter wonât be enough to find the culprit. Letâs just say I stepped in poop.â
âBut in any case, we mustâ¦â
âNo, forget it. Letâs not talk about it anymore. I seem to be remembering the contents of that letter again, thatâs very disturbing.â
âYes, all right.â
Lisbeth was overcome by the horrible memory. George rushed to hug and comfort her. âYou must have been very surprised. Are you really all right? Did he do anything to you?â
âNothing like that. Heâs not even a real threat. He just sends letters.â
âThatâs a relief.â
âHeâs a coward. Heâs just afraid his tail will get longer.â
Maybe thatâs the reason his identity hasnât been discovered for so long. Although he sent nasty letters, he posed no real threat. This meant that unless someone was firmly determined to do something about it, it would be difficult to find him.
The pervert probably only sent letters to young ladies with that in mind. Targeting a married woman could cause rumors to spread quickly and escalate things. Of course, the culprit did not publicly express his opinion, but everyone assumed the same thing.
âMy sister now thinks itâs a love letter sent by my lover.â
âFortunately, everything is fine for now. Rihanna will just forget about it.â
âWell, youâre right,â Lisbeth replied nonchalantly. âI guess sheâll lose interest soon.â
***
Unfortunately, Rihannaâs interest didnât disappear so quickly.
Since that day, Lisbeth had not received another letter, but the way Rihanna looked at her had become a little strange. That didnât please Lisbeth. Every time they made eye contact, she smiled slyly.
Lisbeth thought she knew why Rihanna was doing that, but she couldnât create a lover that didnât exist. She regretted not opening the letter when Rihanna told her to do so. After that, Lisbeth unconsciously fell under stress.
âHavenât you received letters from your lover lately?â She heard these words during dinner the day before the welcome party for the new bureaucrats.
