CHAPTER XII: BOREDOM

Why the heroine became the villainess?

Looking at Lady Beatrice with fresh and happy smile on her face, Marielle thought that an angel really came down from heaven.

"Marielle, let's open the box now.", she enthusiastically ordered.

Marielle picked up the scissor which was also on the cart, and started to cut the ribbon. When the ribbon has been cut, Beatrice voluntarily opened the box. When the books came into view, her spirit fervently beamed. There are soft bounded books with different sizes. The books are about history, accounting, management, military, and general mathematics.

Before the books enticed her more, she first had to send a letter of gratitude to her generous brother. She sat down again on her chair and started to write the letter for her brother. While writing, Marielle placed the books on her table.

Days had passed, and being emerged with all the books from the library that Beatrice happily savored while staying in the estate, she stopped and turned her gazed at the window. It has been almost a month since her transmigration, and she already finished all the books that she had to learn. Boredom is starting to knock on her mind and body.

Marielle, who noticed the lady's deep thinking, tried to break the silence by calling her. "My Lady."

With the sudden called, Beatrice looked at her maid. "What is it, Marielle?", she languidly asked.

"It has been almost a month since you just read books and stayed here in the library."

"Yes. It's just that I wanted to prepare myself from my upcoming schooling next year.", she answered while returning back her gazed at the book that she was reading.

"I can see that, My Lady, but if you would not find it disturbing. I would like to ask that...", Marielle said while fidgeting.

"Yes?"

"I would like to just ask if you would like to go outside?"

"outside?", Beatrice lifted her head with her maid's question.

"You have not attending any parties like you used to so why not—"

Beatrice shut the book, and immediately answered, "I don't like parties."

"My Lady?", Marielle was slightly shocked by her lady's abrupt response. "Wasn't the lady love parties?"

When Beatrice saw the reaction of her maid, she rushed to rephrase her words. "What I mean is, I am starting to get bored in parties. I just want to experience something new." The truth is that she just has no fond of parties, and she is not good at sweet and praise talking like a real noble.

"Then, if you don't want to go to parties. Would you like to have a stroll outside—"

"Stroll?", she curiously asked. "Am I allowed to take a stroll outside? I mean, not just in the garden?", she continued.

"Of course, My Lady—"

"Then, can we stroll in the Market??", Beatrice asked with excitement.

"Market, My Lady?"

"Yes, at the Market."

"Yes, if you want."

"Then, hurry up, Marielle and prepare everything we needed." Beatrice rushed stepping out from the library and went to her room. It was like her soul arose from long slumber. Excitement and anticipation thrummed beneath her skin.

Marielle was left dumbfounded and uttered with confusion. "My Lady wanted to take a stroll in the Market?"

****-------****

"Were you really sure that the Lady wanted to go to the Market?"

"Yes. That was the order of Lady Beatrice. As her assigned knight, please ready yourself, and the carriage that we are going to use."

"Okay.", Caville, the knight, agreed with disbelief.

"I am going back to My Lady now."

After giving instructions, Marielle hurriedly went to her lady's room. She still has to assist the lady with her dress and hair. Upon reaching the door, she stopped and cleared her throat.

Knock knock knock.

"My Lady?", she called.

"Marielle, come in.", Beatrice answered from the other side of the door.

She gently opened the door and entered.

"My Lady?"

"Great timing, Marielle. Could you help me choose what ponytail should I use?", Beatrice seriously asked.

She did not intend not to response, but she was stunned by the appearance of the lady. The lady donned herself with plain and simple clothing like a commoner. It was a yellow plain dress and white lace on her waist ribboned at the back. Her long silvery hair was braided in halves.

"Marielle. Don't just stand up there and help me here."

"Yes, My Lady." Her thoughts were interrupted by the call of her lady.

"What would you think that suited me? The yellow one or the white one?"

"My Lady. Did you just dress up yourself, on your own? And your hair—?"

"Yes. Haven't I made myself clear that I wanted to experience something new? Now, what do you think the yellow or the white one—"

"I am sorry, My Lady, but your dress is—"

"I know, Marielle, it was plain right?"

"...", she unconsciously flinched.

"Marielle, we are going in the Market. If I am going to wear those elegant dresses, I would only catch unnecessary attractions. How could I enjoy my stroll?"

"But My Lady—"

"No, buts. Please don't make me repeat myself, Marielle."

"I am sorry, My Lady." She gave in. "Nonetheless, My Lady, the yellow ribbon would suit your hair more.", she said to change the topic.

"Then, ribboned my hair now with it.", she ordered with a smile on her face.

When everything was settled, the two ladies headed outside the mansion where the carriage was waiting. The carriage was embedded by the crest of the Marquess Croix Family. The crest has a blue rose with silver wolf resting on it. It was the symbol of the Croix family. The silver wolf and blue rose seemingly described the hair and eyes of the Croix Family.

When the two ladies reached the carriage, the horseman was already riding the carriage, and a knight set as a footman was waiting.

"Good afternoon, My— my Lady.", Caville stammered after seeing the unusual appearance of the lady, but as a knight, he could not directly ask. He just reached out his hand to support the lady from the carriage.

Lady Beatrice prepared her hand, but halted and asked. "Are you the knight who will escort us in the market?"

"Yes, My Lady.", He answered with a bow.

"Your name is Caville, right?"
