Ch.28 Birthday
The Hybrid ( BOOK I & II)
***UNEDITED
Who actually reads the A/N at the end?
Remy could feel the guilt slowly arise within his body. It was his fault, his mate was unhappy. It was his fault Genevieve couldn't give birth to any of their future children. He thought of possible ways she could give to birth to at least one of their future children, but it just didn't seem doable. Remy wasn't going to lose Genevieve when they still had the option to adopt.
Remy glanced at the time once again, his frown deepening.
Happy birthday to me, he thought to himself frustrated.
.
..
.
Remy was tired of looking at the blank ceiling and decided to go downstairs into the kitchen. Through the mate bond he could feel that Genevieve had fallen asleep not too long ago.
Remy was silent as he made his way down the down the wooden stairs and into the kitchen. His eyes adjusted rather quickly to the darkness.
He walked over to the double door refrigerator, glancing in the freezer first and then the main part. Remy scanned all the food, with a grim look on his face. Sighing he pulled out the blue berry muffins that were covered with plastic wrap.
After putting two on his plate, he sat down and began to eat the sweet treat. His thoughts wondered off to Genevieve and how he could have handled the situation better.
He could see and understand where Genevieve was coming from. Yeah, she was his mate, and she had the right to bare children. Remy knew that most women would even prefer baring their own children. He wanted that for Genevieve, for her to give birth to their children. But in all honesty, he couldn't allow it.
Genevieve meant everything to him, more than the thought of possible little hybrids. He couldn't let her go through something so dangerous. Genevieve didn't understand yet, but Remy had to explain it to her. The process was so much more risky and dangerous than any other pregnancy.
Their chances of having babies and nothing going wrong was very slim to non existent. Remy wasn't going to get her pregnant, when he didn't know for a fact, if she would still be alive to raise their child with him.
Not only would the birth be difficult but the whole time she'd be carrying that child. Anything could go wrong in those seven months. Genevieve would have to be so careful and limited to daily activities. Added she would have to provide the baby with fresh blood as a big part of their nutrition.
There was also the possibility of the baby feeding off of Genevieve, which would kill her in the long run. Or the baby could get too big for Genevieve's body, which would result in an early delivery. Remy was huge when he was born and now stood at a massive height of 6'8.
Then their were complications after birth. The baby would attract danger, because of the new power source. Remy would have to teach him or her how to live with both supernatural sides. Problems would just follow them up until their child was an adult. If Genevieve and said baby made it through delivery healthy and fine, Genevieve would have to be willing to make major life changes.
...
A small hand touched Remy's back, making him flinch. He turned around with a small smile on his face. "Shouldn't you be in bed, munchkin?"
Rubbing her eye, Mary-Jane grinned. "I couldn't sleep."
"Do you want me to tuck you in?" Remy whispered, switching on the lights for the kitchen.
Mary Jane shook her head, a tired smile on her chubby face. "I'm not tired."
Remy chuckled, lifting his sister onto the bar stool next to him. "If you say so. Do you want some warm milk?"
The young girl shook her head again, eyes moving towards the uneaten muffins. "Can I have one, please?"
Remy flicked her nose playfully. "You should wait until morning."
Mary Jane pushed out her bottom lip in a small pout. "But you're eating some."
"I was just looking at them. I didn't eat any." Remy lied, an innocent look on his face.
Mary Jane giggled. "You have crumbs on your mouth, Remy."
Remy faked a gasp, his hands patting his face lightly. "Where?"
Mary Jane laughed loudly, she moved Remy's hands away and brushed off the small crumbs from the corner of his mouth.
"You think this is funny, don't you?" Remy asked her, trying to hide his smile.
Mary Jane quickly shook her head while trying to conceal her laughs.
"Are you lying to your big brother?" Remy gazed at her with big eyes, a true smile on his face.
Mary Jane opened her mouth to answer him, and instead a loud giggle escaped her.
Remy jumped off of the bar stool, lunging for the tiny girl. His fingers were at her sides, tickling her with no remorse. Mary Jane gasped for air, as Remy continued to tickle her thin belly.
"Babe?" Caroline called from the top of the staircase, after hearing her daughter laugh so loudly.
The siblings stopped laughing in an instant. Both of them were quiet, with red-handed expressions on their face. Remy put his index finger to his lips, in the famous shh motion.
"I've got her." Remy called, grinning at his younger sister.
"Don't stay up too much longer." Caroline replied, while shaking her head and walking back into her bedroom.
No matter how old Remy was, when he was with his sister they were like inseparable twins. With no one else was he ever this playful and careless.
"Come on, let's go to bed." Remy ushered his sister out into the hall.
Mary Jane looked up to her brother, who she considered the friendly giant. "Will you read me a story?"
Remy hoisted his short sister up onto his hip. "Of course. Beauty and the Beast again?"
Wrapping her thin arms around Remy's neck, MJ nodded. It was definitely her favorite story, hands down.
Remy chuckled, afterwards kissing the top of her head. He carried Mary Jane into her Disney decorated room and dropped her on her bed. The small girl giggled as she bounced on the expensive mattress.
Remy made his way over to her bookshelf and skimmed through the many books, searching for the one with the ratty book spine.
"Ready, munchkin?"Â Remy asked laying down on her bed, next to her with the book in hand.
"Mmhmm." Mary Jane cuddled closer to her older brother, her eyes focused on the book about the beast.

Genevieve stepped out of the taxi, with the morning sun beaming down on her. She walked up the gravel path towards Caroline's front door. Gen knocked on the door a few times, her hands trembling with nerves.
She had spent most of the night thinking about her future with Remy. Adoption is what Remy wanted for them. Genevieve was fine with adoption, but she wanted to at least experience carrying one of their future children in her womb. It was a life changing experience being pregnant. There were women who weren't able to carry their own children. Genevieve was perfectly capable of having children, so why shouldn't she?
Every woman went through the dangers of being pregnant and giving birth. Genevieve was willing to go through that. Genevieve was sure with a little persuasion her and Remy could come to a compromise.
Gen had spent most of the night thinking about Remy's reasoning. If safety was really what it was about, then Genevieve would promise him, that she'd be careful. She'd get two doctors to monitor the baby and herself. And in the worse case scenario Remy could change her, but only if it really came down to it.
Her mission was to get Remy to agree but if he didn't then she wouldn't fight him on the matter. If he didn't want this, there was nothing she could do. Genevieve wasn't about to go out and get pregnant by another man.
..
"Morning, honey." Caroline greeted Genevieve with a friendly smile. "Come on in. Remy's still sleeping."
"Oh, ... I can just wait for him back at the house." Genevieve smiled nervously.
"It's fine. Come on in, have a coffee with me. " Caroline lead Genevieve into the large kitchen.
"Remy was up early this morning with MJ, and now they are sleeping it off upstairs in her bedroom. The giant actually fits in her bed."Â Caroline chuckled, pouring Gen a mug.
Genevieve laughed quietly, a faint smile on her face. "Did Remy mention anything last night when he came over?"
Caroline sipped her coffee. "He did. Do you want to know what I think?"
Genevieve smiled and nodded, afterwards taking a sip of her own coffee.
"I'm not saying this because Remy's my son, but I think he's right. You being pregnant with his child, could be highly dangerous. Not only for you but also for the baby. What happens if the baby kills you from the inside? What about Remy then?"
Genevieve looked away to avoid Caroline's intense gaze. The older woman laid her hand over Genevieve's, giving it a small comforting squeeze.
"Genevieve, but I also think you have the right to bare your own children. It's an amazing thing, a feeling like no other. You're in the right to want children. Just know that if you do get pregnant by Remy, it won't be just you anymore. There is no going back." Caroline stood up and patted Genevieve on the shoulder, as Remy waked into the kitchen shirtless, a surprised look on his face.
Genevieve turned around and smiled shyly. "Hey"
Remy returned the smile. "Hey. Did you get here safe?"
Genevieve could feel the butterflies in her stomach. Remy was always so sweet. "Yeah."
Remy nodded, stepping closer to his mate. "Come here."
Genevieve got off the chair and walked over to Remy. He wrapped his arms around her and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I missed you last night."
Genevieve laid her head against his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I missed you too."
"Do you want to talk?" Remy asked as he pulled away, but not before kissing her softly.
Gen nodded and put her hand in Remy's bigger one. He led her upstairs and into the guest room. The both sat on the edge of the bed, with Remy's hand on Gen's lower thigh.
"Should I start?" Genevieve asked trying so hard not to get emotional.
Remy gave her the go, a comforting smile on his face.
"I ... I know that you don't want me to, but I really want to experience being pregnant. I'm willing to do what's necessary to have a baby of my own. I'll be careful. Whatever you think is best, I'll do it."
Genevieve couldn't hold eye contact with Remy and instead she looked at the large tribal tattoo, that ran across from his shoulder onto his right peck.
Remy felt so guilty. He didn't want to break Genevieve's heart. Genevieve was his world and he do anything to make her happy, yet getting her pregnant was not in anyway possible for him.
"Genevieve, I know you want this. But it's too dangerous. The chance of you dying is just to big for me to take that risk."Â Â Remy could feel her anger and sadness through the mate bond.
Genevieve looked completely away from Remy. The first tear ran down her face, as she hurried to wipe it off with the sleeve of her sweatshirt. Her hands trembled, a sob building it's way up her throat. "O-okay."
Remy pulled his crying mate into his arms, whispering comforting words. He rubbed her back and had his lips pressed to her temple, as she silently cried in his arms.
After minutes of Genevieve crying and trembling in Remy's arms, he couldn't take it any more.
"We can consider a baby." Remy spoke softly, his jaw clenched.
He wasn't mad at Genevieve, but so scared that something would go wrong. He couldn't lose her, nothing was worth losing Genevieve. But he couldn't pretend that this wasn't hurting his mate so strongly.
"If you really want this, we'll consider it when the time comes." Remy kissed her forehead again. He couldn't believe he was agreeing to this, when just a few hours ago, he was sure it was a definite no.
"Really? You mean it?" Genevieve asked, looking up at him with her dark brown eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I'm not agreeing." Remy clarified. "What I'm saying is; that when the time comes, we'll consider. I don't want you to give your hopes up or be mad, if we decide together that it is too dangerous and risky."
Genevieve grinned while nodding her head. She wiped the tears from her face and leaned up to press her lips against Remy's.
The kiss was hot and passionate, the perfect mix between the two. Remy pulled his mate closer, practically onto his lap. Genevieve didn't tense up, not even once while she straddled her mates lap. Remy held her close, as she poured her happiness into the kiss.
"Thank you." Gen whispered against his lips, glancing at him from under her long lashes.
Remy grinned, his fangs on full view as he pecked his mate a few more times.
"I'm glad you decided to come." He chuckled. "Spending my birthday without you would be just horrible." He spoke in a high-pitched British accent, pressing his hand over his slow beating heart theatrically.
Genevieve's heartbeat spiked, an embarrassed grin on her face. "Happy birthday, Remy."
Remy laughed and couldn't help his finger from wandering on Genevieve's body. His cold fingers played with the hem of her sweatshirt. "Thank you, baby."
Genevieve and Remy sat there in a comfortable silence, just gazing at one another, with pure love.
"Well, did you get me something?" Remy grinned, absentmindedly massaging her waist beneath her shirt.
Genevieve looked away, a small blush on her honey brown cheeks. "I- I did, ... but I can't show you here."
Remy could feel his câºck twitch inside his jeans, his mind automatically thinking of something sexual.
"Why not, baby?" He whispered in her ear, afterwards turning her head gently so he could look into her eyes.
Genevieve closed her eyes, her breathing hitched. "I-it's for tonight."
Remy licked his lips, while unknowingly tightening his grip on her waist.
"You love to torture me, don't you?"
Genevieve laughed, pushing Remy's bare chest lightly. "... It will be worth it." She kissed him lightly on the lips, but pulled back before Remy could deepen it.
Remy groaned, falling back onto the bed with his laughing mate on top of him.

I love their relationship. I feel like I'm falling in love with my own MC. The weirdest part is, that I'm always on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what's going to happen next.
I might post a short scene, later this week, between Remy & Genevieve on the other book (the one with the restricted chapters). xD
I love how a few of you gave your opinion on Remy's & Gen's situation, on the last chapter. I read all of them and one was actually partly right. Genevieve did ask Caroline for advise on the situation.
I'm also thankful for all the lovely messages on my wall or the private messages I got. It means so much to me, when I read supporting stuff! Especially when you guys are the only ones, who know that I write.
I created me an account on ASK.fm. You can ask me question there (obviously). You'll find the link on my wall, but I'll also post a message. :D
Riddle answer: Mount Everest -by the way, that one was a gift from me. That was way too easy :P

***SPOILER***: their little pregnant discussion is not completely solved in this chapter. Neither of them will want to back down. It WILL resurface and when it does, it will slap you all in the face! *rubs hands together, while smirking* I'm so evil xD
