Ch.37 Wolves In The Night
The Hybrid ( BOOK I & II)
Did she lie and wait
Was I bait, to pull you in
The thrill of the kill
You feel, is a sin
I lay with the wolves
Alone, it seems
I thought I was part of you
...
Eyes turning dark and the sexy smile dropping from his pale face, he looked at Genevieve. "Where did you find them?"
Genevieve looked up at him, her brown eyes turning into slits as she tried to give him her angriest face. "Does it matter?"
"You should have never even knew about them." Remy looked away.
The waves crashed on the beach loudly, the quit laughter of Mary Jane could be heard as she played with Beau in the distance.
"Too bad, Remy. I know about them. I found an envelope on our doorstep this morning." Genevieve stepped in front of him, placing a small hand on his chest. "Were you ever going to tell me?"
Remy looked down at his mate, his grey eyes softening at the sight of his disappointed mate. "You don't need the stress right now."
Genevieve smiled softly, placing Remy's rough hand on her baby bump. "She's fine and so am I. You are stressing yourself out, Remy."
Remy rubbed her belly, using his other hand to tilt her head up as he leaned down, capturing her lips in a soft kiss. "I just want you two to be okay. You've been floating on cloud nine ever since that doctors appointment two weeks ago. You've been so happy. Are you not scared, worried or exhausted at least?"
Genevieve chuckled, placing her hand over Remy's heart. "I'm perfectly fine. I haven't even had any morning sickness or anything. Being pregnant is beautiful."
"You're beautiful." Remy leaned in again for another kiss, just to be pushed back lightly by Genevieve.
"Remy, don't you trust me? Just like I want you to share the good things with me, I also want the bad things. I want you to feel like you can trust me with anything. If we are in danger I want to know, I need to know."
"I'm your mate, I'm here to protect you. You shouldn't ever be in danger and I don't need you stressing over childish threats." Remy said, his voice laced with finality.
Genevieve ignored his comment, and decided she didn't want them fighting. "You know Lily's behind it, right?"
"I do, and I took care of it today."Â Remy checked on MJ and Beau, as he continued to walk along the beach with Genevieve. "She got the message loud and clear and if she didn't ... well let's just say Levi's family will be holding an exile for her."
"An exile won't keep her away." Lily was a god forsaken witch, not an obedient elementary child.
"It will, if death's the punishment." Remy reassured Genevieve, gently pulling her close again.
Genevieve looked up at her sexy beast, an almost excited smile on her face. "Well what did you tell her? How did you tell her? Don't leave out any details."
Remy chuckled and pecked her warm flushed cheek.
..
"Fuck, Lily. I warned you once, to stay the hell away from us." Remy growled, close to laying his hands on her, but he held himself back.
"I can't Remy!" Lily glared back, tears welling up in her brown eyes. "I tried, I can't"
"Why the fuck not?! Why is it impossible for you to leave me and my family alone?" Remy barked, his jaw clenched, eyes appearing completely black.
Lily stepped closer, the black envelope crumbled in her small fist. "How can you be so oblivious?! I've loved you for nearly three years. At least before you found your mate, you made time to hang out with me, you cared. Now you're just an asshole!"
"You're mad because I love my mate? Sorry to tell you but Genevieve's my soulmate, not you. Did you expect me to ignore her and then suddenly fall in love with you?" Remy shook his head in disbelief. " And then you have the nerve to stalk her and take pictures, just to send them to my doorstep. The only thing I feel for you is pity and hatred."
A tear slid down Lily's face that she quickly rubbed away. "I didn't want to hurt you. I ... I-I just wanted you to love me again."
Remy pinched the bridge of his nose. Lily was not understanding what he was trying to tell her. "Lily, I never loved you. I was never in love with you. I can't even apologize for leading you on, because I know that I didn't."
Lily shook her head, stepping closer to Remy, her full lips trembling. "You did, Remy don't lie! You were nice and sweet. You took me out on a date last year for my birthday. You let me stay the night in your guest room. You made breakfast for us. You got jealous when guy's were hitting on me. The signals were there Remy, you and I both know that."
"You're wrong Lily. You are making all those situations more than what they actually were." Remy denied Lily's accusations. "I never took you out on a date. There were five other people sitting at that damn table. We were never alone in my house, I only let you stay because you were babysitting my younger sister. I make breakfast every fucking morning. And if you call me -telling a guy to back off because you're not even legal yet-, getting jealous than your crazy."
"She doesn't deserve you." Lily whispered, while looking away.
"She doesn't deserve to be harassed by you." Remy replied angrily. "I swear Lily, if you don't leave her alone you will be exiled and deemed a savage witch."
Lily gasped, her face turning sickly white. "Savage witch? They'll kill me."
"Then you know what you have to do." Remy said, shoving his hand in his suit slack pockets. He turned around and began walking away.
"D-do you love h-her?" Lily asked loudly, her hand clenched her sweater material over her heart.
Remy looked over his shoulder. "I do. I love Genevieve more than anything."
By now Lily had tears streaming down her pale cheeks. "Then I w-want you to be happy. I'll leave you alone. This time I mean it for real. I'll never bother you again."
Remy nodded and tried to soften his features. "I'm taking your word on it, Lily"
Remy walked away without looking back, a sense of relief washing over him. But for some reason guilt pooled in his stomach.
Lily watched the man she loved walk away, her heart aching for a man that would never love her back. Deep down Lily knew that she'd never be happy if she couldn't have Remy. But Remy himself was already happy with his mate Genevieve. That left Lily with only one way out of her dilemma, something that was permanent and not to be reversed.
Death.
...
"Is it weird that I feel bad for her?" Genevieve asked, hugging her mate tight.
Remy returned the hug, before kissing her forehead. "It's natural to want to help those in need, but Lily needs to realize that she doesn't have a shot with me."
"I never thought I would say this, ... but I actually hope she's okay."
"She will be." Remy replied, ignoring the weird feeling the grabbed at his heart.
.
.
"Are you ready for your Genevieve therapy?"Â Genevieve blushed, looking over at Remy, who had his focus on the road.
Remy groaned, before licking his lips and taking a quick glance at Gen. "What's your course of treatment?"
"You'll find out soon enough." Genevieve played with the hem of her sweater, a shy smile on her red lips, as she stole glances of her mate.
She couldn't believe that they were doing this, talking like this. Was Remy flirting? More importantly was Genevieve flirting back? The courage and self esteem he had given her was amazing. Genevieve had always shied away from any positive attention, but now she leaned towards it. Yeah, she still blushed and got nervous, but she wasn't afraid to flirt back with Remy. She wasn't afraid to initiate kisses or scared of asking Remy to hold her. Those things that were once unimaginable, were now a reality for Genevieve and she loved the new confidence.
Just a year ago, Genevieve had never been kissed or anything beyond that. Now she was pregnant with her first child, had a handsome and caring mate and had more than one friend. Her life now was something from a fairytale, something you would read in a fantasy book, something a teenage girl would write out of boredom. But honestly Genevieve loved her life now compared to her life just a year ago. Her life in Miami wasn't terrible; her dads were awesome and loving, she had a best friend, Luke.
Speaking of Luke, Genevieve had tried calling him more than once the last couple of days but he never answered. The call would always go straight to voicemail. It was more than obvious that Luke was avoiding her every way possible. Genevieve was worried about her best friend. He was always there for her, whenever she needed him. So why suddenly wasn't he answering her calls? Was he mad at her for something? Or maybe tired of Genevieve rubbing the fact that she had the perfect mate under his nose? Was he mad that he hadn't found his mate yet?
Genevieve missed her best friend. Remy had told her that it wasn't her fault that Luke wasn't answering any of her calls or text's. That maybe Luke had found his mate, possibly a dominate and possessive male that didn't want any competition. Genevieve had laughed at that, not believing any word that came from Remy's mouth.
That Luke was bisexual, was clear to Genevieve, but an alpha male having another alpha male as a mate was too rare and almost unheard of.
Yet, as Gen laid in bed that night she actually considered Remy's theory. What if Luke had found his mate? What if he just needed time with his mate and didn't feel like answering anyone's calls or messages? Now that was more likely, compared to him having a dominate alpha male.
"What are you thinking about?" Remy asked, driving up their driveway.
"The treatment you'll be receiving tonight."Â Genevieve lied quickly, despite the fact that she hated lying to Remy.
"When do we start?" Remy asked, playing along, although he knew that Genevieve had just lied to him.
Genevieve looked at the time on the dashboard. "In two more hours. I want it to be partly dark outside."
"Outside?" Remy raised an eyebrow, while parking the car.
Genevieve nodded, grinning at Remy's confused expression. If Remy thought her therapy consisted of something sexual than boy was he wrong.
"Really?" Remy asked, while unlocking the front door to their almost empty house.
"Yes really." Genevieve pecked his lips, before walking upstairs with a slight sway in her hips.
She could hear Remy groan, followed by his footsteps as he followed her upstairs and into their bedroom.
Genevieve turned away from Remy's hungry eyes and pulled off her long summer dress, as well as slipping off her flats , leaving her in just a pair of black Brazilian cheekies and a black bra. She walked over to Remy, her cheeks already burning red, and leaned up to kiss him softly.
Remy responded eagerly, his hands on her hips, lifting her up. Moaning softly, Genevieve pushed against his chest a little.
Remy slowly loosened his grip on her, setting her back on her feet. "What's wrong?"
Genevieve got on their bed and pulled the covers up, only her smiling face visible. "Nothing. Let's cuddle."
Remy would have been frustrated at the lack of ... "pleasure" in that moment, but Genevieve's smile was too sweet. Remy smiled also, before taking off his own clothes and crawling in bed with Genevieve. He wrapped his arms around her the best he could without squishing their baby in the middle .
"Can you set an alarm for in two hours?" Gen whispered, breathing in Remy's natural masculine scent.
Remy leaned away from her, turning on his side to set the alarm just as she had asked. Afterwards resuming their position.
"We should decide on a name for her." Genevieve suggested, while turning off the lamp on her side.
"I like Vanessa or maybe Sophia."
Genevieve smiled at Remy's response. Mary Jane had also suggested naming the baby Sophia. "I like the name Rose. Mary Jane proposed that we name her Ava.
"Those are all really nice names." Remy rubbed his hand over Gen's baby bump. "Have you had any dizzy spills lately?"
"One, this morning but that was it." Genevieve kissed Remy's chest over his tribal tattoo.
"I guess that's good, compared to what we were initially expecting." Remy acknowledged, remembering all the things that could have happened during the first trimester.
"It's sweet that you are so worried." Genevieve smiled up at him. She would have never thought that Remy would worry more than her.
"I'll always be worried, even after she's born." Remy brushed back Genevieve's hair from her forehead. "High school boys, College boys, male co-workers, strangers ... even her so called "friends". She better not come home with a boyfriend until she's at least thirty."
Genevieve laughed loudly, her brown eyes shining with happiness. "Remy, come on. Are you going to be one of those dads?"
"You laugh now, just wait till they see how beautiful she is. She'll have your natural beauty , which means tons of horndogs are going to be looking to get into her pants."Â Remy's face was serious, even his eyes were turning black.
"Calm down. We'll raise her well and she won't surround herself with those "horndogs" you speak of." Gen couldn't help but laugh at Remy's explanation and worry. Their daughter wasn't even born yet, and Remy was worried about boys.
Remy looked at Genevieve with a smirk, his fangs sharp and eyes dark. "Horndogs are everywhere, Genevieve. Every sixth person is one, of course statistically speaking."
"Statistically speaking?" Genevieve grinned, shaking her head in disbelief. "What statistic? The Remy Monroe statistic?"
"If you have to know yes, yes it is my statistic." Remy kissed the tip of her nose.
"I love you." Genevieve laughed, kissing his cold lips softly.
"And you'll love me for another few centuries, right baby?"
"Always." Genevieve blushed.
She knew that if human mates mated with their mate they'd automatically gain the same lifespan as their supernatural mate.
...
"Just a few more steps and then you can take off the blindfold." Genevieve led Remy further away from the car and deeper into the forest.
"This is not why I expected, at all." Remy honestly said, holding onto Genevieve's hand.
"Nothing sexual if that's what you thought." Genevieve chuckled, while using the large flashlight to navigate their way through the tall trees and plants. "Today's session is about trust. I know you trust me in your human "form", but I want you to trust me in your rawest form, your beast."
Suddenly Remy ripped of the blindfold, his back arching, fangs elongating and his eyes turning black.
"Wow, that was fas-" Remy held his hand over her mouth, preventing her from saying anything.
"Shh, there's someone coming." Remy whispered in her ear, before facing the dark shadowed forest.
Remy stood protectively in front of Genevieve, blocking her from the three pairs of glowing yellow eyes. He growled in warning, claws replacing his fingernails.
A dark brown wolf stepped out of the shadows, a slight limp in it's walk. The other two wolves remained in the shadows of the trees. Slowly the exposed wolf transformed, taking on human features. Matt brown hair, dark green eyes and a toned body.
"I'm Harvey ... are you the hybrid?"Â The young teenage boy asked, although there was no real question behind his words.
Remy growled again, stepping forward. "Leave!"
The tall boy trembled, tears welling up in his young eyes. " W-we need your help, p-please."
