Chapter 42

Ch.38 Maddox

The Hybrid ( BOOK I & II)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORTIVE MESSAGES. THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO ME!!!

FAE = FAIRY

A dark brown wolf stepped out of the shadows, a slight limp in it's walk. The other two wolves remained in the shadows of the trees. Slowly the exposed wolf transformed, taking on human features. Matt brown hair, dark green eyes and a toned body.

"I'm Harvey ... are you the hybrid?" The young teenage boy asked, although there was no real question behind his words.

Remy growled again, stepping forward. "Leave!"

The tall boy trembled, tears welling up in his young eyes. " W-we need your help, p-please."

Harvey looked back into the shadows of the woods, motioning with his hand for the other two to come out. A larger werewolf walked out of the shadows, with a tiny pup limping behind him.

"We are from the Shadow Steele Pack. T-that's King and Maddox." Harvey pointed to the two wolves, the larger one with a ash blonde colored coat and the young pup with a black coat and a crimson marking on his chest.

Remy couldn't have cared less about their names, nor had he ever heard of the Shadow Steele Pack. "Get to the point!"

"O-our pack is being h-held by a dark fae. We need your h-help, please." Harvey stuttered, nervously looking at the 6'8 man.

"No." Remy flat out stated, before glaring at the blonde wolf, who tried to sneak a look at Genevieve.

"Remy, at least listen to what he has to say." Genevieve whispered, afterwards eyeing the whimpering pup with the dirtied fur.

Remy looked at the small pup too, his eyes zeroing on the blood the matted the wolf's fur. "How did you three escape if your pack is being held by a dark fae?"

"We ran. The fae wanted King and I to bring Maddox down to the basement, we were supposed to kil-"

Suddenly lightning struck the dark sky, scaring Maddox as he howled out, his pacific blue eyes pulling with tears.

"We should go back to the house." Genevieve suggested as soon as heavy rain started pouring down on them.

Remy looked between his pregnant mate and the three werewolves in need. "We can't trust them. We don't even know them."

"We m-mean no harm." Harvey assured. "Please, y-you have to believe us."

Remy tried focusing in on their heartbeats. The only one that stood out was the one from the youngest pup, Maddox. It was beating too slow, he was injured.

"Remy, he's bleeding." Genevieve fussed over Maddox, as the young pup curled into him self, shielding the wounds on his hind legs.

"Let's go." Remy called to the full bred wolves. "The first second I sense a shift in your behavior, you're gone."

Remy held Genevieve impossibly close, while watching the three werewolves with cautious eyes. They reached the car at the edge of the forest, not a single person in sight.

"He goes in the car." Remy motioned over to Maddox, before looking back at the other two teen shifters. "We are running there."

They nodded and helped Maddox into the backseat. Genevieve kissed Remy's cheek, before getting into the drivers seat. Surprisingly she was calmer then Remy, not really threatened by the young werewolves.

"Move Beau into the doghouse out in the back." Remy told Genevieve. Three full bred wolves and a dog was not a combination Remy wanted to try that night.

Remy watched his mate drive off, before directing his attention to Harvey. "How did you find me?"

Harvey blushed in embarrassment. "You're the hybrid. I ... I m-mean you are v-very powerful. W-we could sense you a few miles away a-after running from the house."

Remy glanced at the blonde wolf that hadn't muttered a single word yet. "Do you speak?"

King shifted into his human form, dark chocolate skin replacing the unusual ash blonde fur. "Yes, alpha."

Remy acknowledged his answer, but chose to ignore the mention of the word alpha.

"How bad is your leg?" Remy glanced back at Harvey.

"It's fine." Harvey played down the pain, while avoiding Remy's penetrating gaze.

Remy nodded his head once. "Good, because you still would have had to run."

...

Genevieve continued to clean the wounds on Maddox's legs as best as she could, but his fur didn't leave much visible.

"Shift." Remy commanded Maddox, after walking into the kitchen with the other boys.

Remy had lent the teenage boys some of his clothes, although they looked like they were drowning in it.

Maddox had shifted in seconds, his skin scratched raw and his legs bloody. Jagged scars covered his chest and whipping marks his back.

Genevieve gasped at the sight of the young boys body, moving to go get the first aid kit from under the sink. Remy moved closer to Maddox, reaching out to take a better glance at the ripped skin on his back. Maddox whined and flinched seconds before Remy could touch him.

"Calm down." Remy softly said to Maddox after sending the other two boys into the next room.

It was too late because the boy had already urinated on the kitchen floor, arms wrapped around his bruised chest.

Clearly something had happened to the boy to have him so scared.

"He's scared Remy, leave him alone." Genevieve said quietly, while grabbing a roll of paper towels.

"Those are magical wounds." Remy acknowledged. "Call Levi and tell him it's an emergency."

Remy resisted the urge to get a better look at the wounds, and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room where the other two boys sat.

"Tell me everything you know." Remy demanded, glancing between both boys.

"Our pack was invaded by a dark fae seven months ago. She wasn't alone at the time and was able to poison us with Wolfsbane. We weren't sure what she was after at first, but then she started taking higher ranked pack members into the basement. The alpha couple was first and then the beta couple. Their blood was drained to a near fatal point, before they had to fight repeatedly against one another in front of the pack. She collected their blood for some type of potion."

Everything up to this point was making sense to Remy. Dark fae's were uncommon, but highly evil. They were basically ancient compared to other supernatural creatures. They were enemies with almost everything supernatural and were almost like hunters. It was known that fae's used blood as their main fluid for potions. The stronger the supernatural being was, the better the potion.

But one thing had Remy confused. Fae's had very short lifespans, three months give or take a few weeks. "A fae lives barely up to four months. How was she able to stay alive that long?"

This time it was King who answered. "After the second month a witch came by the house, but we're not sure what kind of deal they made. We are assuming the witch altered her lifespan."

Remy nodded. It was in fact highly possible. Witches often made deals but only if they could gain something better in return.

"Your alpha and beta are they ...?"

Harvey nodded, while glancing away. "Dead? Yeah."

Remy felt a twinge in his heart. These boys were barely adults and the leaders of their pack had died in front of their eyes.

A knock on the front door caught Remy's attention. He assured the boys that it was just the doctor for Maddox and that they didn't need to worry.

"What's the emergency? Is it the baby?" Levi rushed out as soon as Remy opened the door.

"No, not the baby. There is a very young pup with Genevieve in bathroom upstairs. He has magical wounds all over his body and severe lashes on his back and legs. He might not let you near him, but could you try to see if any of the wounds are fatal?"

Levi nodded his head, despite the confusion. "Why do you have a pup at your house?"

"Complicated right now, but I'll let you know when the situation calms down." Remy replied, afterwards walking back into the living room.

"If the fae was after high ranked shifters and your pack doesn't have anymore, why is she still holding your pack captive?" Remy asked, focusing back on the situation at hand.

Harvey shook his head. "There was one shifter left with the alpha blood line -"

"Maddox." Remy finished the sentence. "He's the alpha's son?"

Harvey and King nodded at the same time.

"Why would she try getting blood from Maddox, he's what six? His blood wouldn't be nearly as strong as an adult shifter."

"He's four." King corrected. "She tortured him countless of times to aggravate the wolf inside of him.

Remy nearly growled. A fae was torturing a young pup so she could have blood for her fucking potions?!

"How long has she been using him?" Remy barked with anger.

"Almost five months. Today we were supposed to bring him to her so she could kill him, but we ran."

Remy was in some sense proud of the two teenage boys. They put their own life in even more danger to save Maddox's.

"Has she ... touched him sexually?" Remy didn't want to ask, but he knew that fae's were sexual supernatural beings.

King shook his head but Harvey nodded.

"Which one is it?"

Harvey looked at his pack member. "Maddox didn't tell me, but you know how fae's are."

"That doesn't mean anything and he's really young too." King disagreed.

Remy snapped his finger to gain their attention. "If Maddox doesn't mention anything himself, neither will you two."

Both boys nodded.

After a few seconds King looked over at Remy, who was busy with his own thoughts on the situation. "Are you going to help us alpha? What's left of our pack, is locked up in that house."

"I'll help, but that's the second time you've called me alpha. I'm not an alpha, nor am I your alpha." Remy glanced at King.

"If you're not our alpha, you're going to be the alpha of another pack." Harvey picked at the hem of the red shirt he was wearing.

"No, I won't." Remy denied their theory. He wasn't an alpha ten years ago and he wasn't one now.

"You have a child on the way with a human mate. How to you plan to keep them safe?" Harvey reasoned.

Remy growled from his spot on the couch, claws extending. "Don't worry about my family."

"I didn't mean to offend you, but you know just as well as we do, that as soon as your daughter is born, hunters will be after her, especially since she's a girl. She's a new source of power. Shifters will be curious if not intimidated."

Remy knew that what Harvey was saying was true, but the whole pack life wasn't something him and Genevieve planned.

"A pack would keep her safe and your mate, ... and of course you too." King thought out loud. "We need an alpha and you need a pack."

Remy dismissed the conversation about becoming alpha. "If Maddox was the last member with the alpha blood line and he is currently here, why would the rest of your pack still be alive?"

"She can't get rid of 67 shifters by tomorrow night."

"Valid argument. When is the best time to get the rest of your pack? And does the fae have any weaknesses you know of?" Remy stood up from the couch.

"Nightfall. She didn't show an obvious weakness but she avoids mirrors." Harvey remembered the fae covering all the mirrors in the house.

"Okay." Remy took the information in, already planning an attack.

"What are you going to do?" King asked.

"Don't worry." Remy assured them, while motioning for them to stand up. "You two can have the guest room. There is only one bed but it's king sized. There is a connected bathroom, stacked with towels. I'll lay out some clothes if you want to shower. Breakfast is in the morning."

Nodding, both of the boys got up and followed Remy towards the guest room.

"What about Maddox?" Harvey asked, a worried expression on his face.

"He'll be fine upstairs with my mate and I." Remy replied, before walking upstairs.

He listened to Levi and Genevieve's voice that led him into the master bedroom.

Maddox had shifted back into his wolf form, cuddled on Gen's thighs as she rubbed between his ears. Levi sat at the edge of the bed, but stood as Remy walked into the room.

Levi and Remy shared a look before walking just outside of the room. "How is he?"

Levi had a emotionless mask on, something that meant bad news. "He's lucky. None of the wounds are fatal, but the scars on his back and chest are permanent. He's going to need therapy in the future. He lost his parents and even though he is very young he understands the situation he and his pack are in."

Remy grimaced. "I don't know if that is better ... or worse than I thought."

"I gave Genevieve some antiseptic cream for the cuts. She knows to apply that daily and you shouldn't touch him below his neck." Levi informed Remy.

"I won't." Remy tried to crack a smile. "Thank you Levi for coming."

"No problem. I know you've got a lot of stuff on your hands right now, but don't forget to pick up your order at the jeweler."

Remy smiled and nodded, before saying his goodbyes to the young doctor.

Walking back into the bedroom, he kneeled beside the bed.

"Maddox?"

The four year old pup glanced at him, the fear clear in his eyes.

"I'm Remy and you've met my mate Genevieve." He tried the friendliest smile without looking like a creep. "I know about your pack and I want to help. I'm going to try and go get them tomorrow night. I'd be really happy if you let me lead your pack as the alpha only until you are ready and old enough. Does that sound good?"

Remy wanted all the protection he could get for his mate and daughter. If that meant becoming alpha, he'd do it.

Maddox nodded, before hiding his snout with his black paws. Remy smiled softly and gently rubbed the spot between his ears.

After standing back up, Remy shared a look with Genevieve. She nodded and smiled, as if understanding what Remy had wanted to express. "It's okay."

Remy leaned down and pecked her lips quickly.

My beautiful luna mate.
