Chapter 24
My Nerd is a Lil' Bunny
JAMIE'S POV
Before we could even enter the house, we could hear the loud music and chatters of young teenagers who are definitely going to make bad decisions today. (A/N: Don't do drugs kids)
"Are we ready for this?" Jane asked, looking like a badass.
"We sure are!" I said marching in with her.
"Hey happy-go-luckies, get your asses back here," Joseph called us. Yes, he decided to join too. Not that I mind, but he has a habit of butting in every chance Damian and I are alone. "I'm setting some ground rules," He announced.
"Eh~ That's boring," Jane protested, not before having her head clutched by her brother Andrew.
"You will listen to what Joseph has to say." He declared with his cold scotic express that sent chills down my spine.
"Yes, big brother." Good call.
"As I was saying," Joseph continued, "I have three rules, one: you will not wander off with anyone else; Two: you will not eat or drink anything that is not offered by us; Three: if you need to go anywhere then go with one of us; Do you understand these rules?"
"Why do I feel like this is only directed at us two?" Ah, my words slipped out.
"Because it is. Now do you understand these rules or should we go home?"
"WE UNDERSTAND SIR!" Both Jane and I said at once. Ugh, this is going to suck the fun out of the party- huh?
"Jacob, who did you say was hosting this party?" I asked.
"A senior at your school, why do you ask?"
"Just a thought. Well, now can we go in?" I asked Joseph.
"Yes you can," He replied, and without looking back, Jane and I ran inside. I could hear the chuckles of Damian and Dennis as they followed behind us. If it was loud outside, inside was even louder. Deafeningly loud music boomed enough to vibrate the whole house. Flickering led lights lit up the dark room. Glitters and confetti everywhere and people dancing like there is no tomorrow. Some girls on counter top, some playing beer pong, and some yelling and throwing glasses on the floor. I felt like I stepped into a universe that I wasn't supposed to. (A/N: as you can see the lack of imagination for this party. Your author is an introvert queen, she hates going to parties.)
"How do you feel?" Damian asked, holding my hand.
"Like I should not leave you even for a second." He chuckled. "What?"
"Your too cute baby, just breathe. And, I was never planning on leaving you anyways." He said taking me to a less crowded area, seating me on his lap. I swear this guy is just a big sofa.
"Damian, Jamie," Jacob called us out. He was with a very attractive girl, too attractive for him if I say so. "Let me introduce you, this is Katie, the love of my life."
"Hehe, sorry about this dramatic introduction, it's really nice to meet you both. I have heard so much about you." Uh-oh, what did he tell her?
"And he has been hiding you under a rock. I'm Damian, and this cutie is Jamie, the love of my life. He did not just say that. OMG!
"Haha. He's very cute. So Jacob has not said anything about me huh?" She said with a very scary smile.
"Huh?" Jacob remarked with visible confusion.
"Yup not even a peep," Damian said with an evil grin.
"Oh, I see," she sounded even more scarier.
"You know this time that trick won't work on me," Jacob said in a monotone voice. "You are confusing the heck out of little Jamie." He said, pointing at a very confused me. Both of them turned and they started to laugh, which made me even more confused.
"I'm sorry Jamie," Katie said, hugging me, "You see, Damian and I are cousins and a long time ago, in fifth grade when I started to date Jacob, we played the same prank on him. Tried it the second time but unfortunately it didn't work." Now it all made sense, they even look alike, in a way.
Okay, officially Katie is the coolest person ever, sure she's loud but wow she's fun. Every game we played she won no matter who she was against and boy can she dance. Her hips sure don't lie, if you get what I mean. Tonight, all eyes were on Katie. Rubbed off some girls the wrong way, especially Cindy. Yes she was also there. She must have spotted us (more like Damian), and she came over.
"Hey Damian, Jamie, didn't expect you to be here tonight." She said with venom in her voice. Yeah, I don't like you either.
"It's not like I wanted to be here, I was practically forced by something irresistibly adorable." He said, resting his chin on my shoulder. This guy sure can be petty.
"I see," Ah, her eyes twitched. "Well, enjoy the rest of the party." She spat as she left. Bye bitch.
All in all, I had a lot of fun at the party. I got to meet so many new people, danced, even sang (I'm very tone deaf), played with everyone. I played a penalty game where I kept losing and they made me drink (Joseph threatened them to make sure I wasn't given any alcoholic drink), so much that I couldn't hold it in. I excused myself from the game to find Damian, who was talking to Katie. I tugged his sleeve.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I need to pee. Where's the bathroom?" Without a word, Damian carried me in his arms to the bathroom. It was kinda embarrassing but I was too focused on not peeing my pants. When we reached the bathroom, I jumped off Damian's arms and went right in slamming the door shut. When I was done, it was the biggest relief I ever felt. I was about to open the door but I heard her voice. Cindy.
"You standing guard for your boyfriend?" She asked with that spiteful mouth of her's.
"Isn't it obvious? So what are you doing here? I know you're not here to use the bathroom." Damian sounded irritated, should I interrupt? But I wanna hear what she has to say.
"Look two years ago I made a mistake but you have to act spiteful towards me? Besides it's not like it's my fault." It's obviously your fault bitch, you fucking cheated on him! Shoot I used a bad word!
"Wow, it's not your fault. Yeah you just tripped and landed on his dick, it was all an accident, I understand." Wow he's really pissed.
"YOU... What is it that you want me to do? Get on my knees and beg for forgiveness?" She yelled, it definitely attracted some attention.
"What I want to know is what are you trying to do now? Why did you come back and why do you keep bothering me?" He said. I could sense his anger spilling out.
"I... I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT AGAIN! I KNOW I HURT YOU, BUT I NEVER MEANT TO!" You are not making a bit of sense, woman.
"So what, you thought that if you cheated on me I would be happy?"
"I WASN'T THINKING, IT JUST HAPPENED!" Seriously... this woman needs a brain.
"FOR FUCK'S SAKE CINDY, I LOVED YOU! I LOVED YOU TO THE POINT THAT I WANTED TO MARRY YOU," I felt a sharp pain in my chest when I heard those words. "AND THEN I SEE YOU WITH THAT BASTARD. YOU KNEW HOW MUCH I HATED HIM, BUT YOU BETRAYED ME! I THOUGHT, 'WELL MAYBE HE FORCED HER,' I WANTED TO CLEAR THINGS OUT THE NEXT DAY BUT YOU BROKE UP WITH ME, HUMILIATING ME IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! TELL ME HOW THAT FEELS. AND NOW YOUR BACK, WHEN I FINALLY FOUND HAPPINESS ONCE AGAIN, WITH SOMEONE I KNOW WHO WILL NOT LEAVE ME LIKE YOU DID." Damian... "Why are you trying to ruin it?" He finally asked in a calm manner, but I knew he was hurting.
"I wasn't happy there... so I thought coming back things would get better, that you would take me back... but when I saw you with him, I couldn't stand it. You looked so different with him, you looked at him the way you never looked at me, it made my blood boil. An expression that I have never seen before, how could anyone other than me bring it out of you."
"I don't know, maybe because I love Jamie, maybe because he won't break my heart into pieces, maybe because he won't cheat on me like you did!" Woah he doesn't pull any punches on does he.
"Would you let that go already! And maybe he wouldn't, but what about you?"
"What?"
"I know that you knew I was coming back months before," What?
"I did so?"
"So doesn't that mean that you're just using him to get back at me?" No, he's not like you!
"Hah, don't lump me together with you Cindy. I don't take advantage of people's love and throw it away like trash. I love Jamie from the bottom of my heart, more than I have ever loved you. He makes me happy, he makes me feel loved and most of all, his love is sincere." Tears streamed down my cheeks. My heart hurt not because of his words but because I could feel his pain. He always seemed so composed and he always made me happy that I didn't realize how much he was hurting inside. I love him with all my heart, I really do, but I just don't want my love to be words, I want him to rely on me as much as I rely on him.
"*sigh* There is no point in arguing anymore, you and I are done, have been done for two years. If you keep dragging this you'll end up hurting yourself even more, so end this here and go back to the party." I could hear her heels clicking away. "Jamie, come out now," He said, knocking on the door. I opened the door and was greeted by his usual cheery face, the face that hid all the pain. "Why are you-" before he could finish, I leapt into his arms. "What's wrong Bunny?" I didn't answer but buried my head further into his chest. Letting out a deep sigh, he stroked my hair like he always did calming me down. "Let's go home," He said. I just nodded, not facing him yet. I'm kinda embarrassed now.

Damian's POV
After the whole ordeal at the party, Jamie and I slipped out. Jamie was still not talking to me though it looks like he stopped crying. He kept sniffling as he looked out to the night starry sky. It truly is a beautiful night as the full moon shone the brightest. Let's not take him home yet. I turned towards the back road that leads to the woods, surprised Jamie shot his head up and looked at me. His nose was still red from crying. He pointed out the window in confusion.
"Let's not go home yet," I said, driving deep into the woods, arriving at an open area where the moon lit the forest grounds with it's light. I always came here when I was a kid with my dad. This place was very special and it's my first time bringing someone else here.
"Where?" He asked, confused and slightly overwhelmed and I know why. You can see the Milky Way stars clearly from this part of the woods and it is absolutely breathtaking.
"This is a very special place for me and I want to share it with someone special," I explained, taking his hand and kissing it. "Let's get out so we can enjoy the starry sky," We both got out of the car, I got us a blanket and a gingham (a picnic cloth) to sit on the grass from my trunk. I laid the cloth and sat down first, brought Jamie to my lap and wrapped ourselves with the blanket. We sat in a comfortable silence staring at the starry sky, occasionally spotting a few falling stars. Jamie seemed to have calmed down a bit, which was good, he was a sopping mess since we left the party.
"Thank you for bringing me out here," he mumbled, "But," he got up and faced me, "I wanna talk." This is the first time I have seen such a serious expression on him.
"Ok, you speak and I'll listen," I replied. He then took a deep breath and looked at me with those big blue eyes of his, the eyes that I can never look away from.
"I... I want you to know that I love you and not only as words that you say, I truly mean it. You make me happy and I can rely on you for anything, but I don't always want it to be you who's helping me, I want you to rely on me as much as I rely on you." My heart swelled up, the tears that I held back, flooded my eyes. I hugged him to hide my dorry state, but he lifted my face wiping them away and kissing me. "I don't want you to hide, I want to ease your mind like you do mine. I will always be there for you, no matter what and that's a promise that I'll never break." Ah, I can't. I broke down in his arms. All the pain, all the emotions that I held back flooded through me. I wept like a child and I didn't mind cause Jamie is all I need.
