Chapter Twenty Six

Forever Ours

Victoria's POV

"Now I have the strength to tell you everything." Temi said as she walked into my "cell."

I sat up and stared at her.

Jack placed a chair in front of the bed I was laying on and walked away, closing the door behind him.

Temi sat and crossed her legs. "Are you ready? To hear the truth?"

I didn't respond, just stared at her.

She chuckled. "Okay. So twenty nine years ago, my mother along with some friends visited New Jersey. It was a really nice summer." She snickered.

"Anyways, there she met my father. Caleb Black, son of  Alex Black the owner of one of the biggest publishing companies in all of America."

There's no way in hell that my father is her father. She is definitely wrong about all these. Her mother lied to her.

"My father was visiting his grandfather in New Jersey his home town."

My father really is from New Jersey. It's just a coincidence that her father is also from New Jersey. It's not possible.

"Sparks flew and they fell in love instantly." A smile was on her face. "Well at least my mother was in love with him, he had his eyes on someone else." Her smile dropped. "A one night stand led to pregnancy. My mum told my father about it and that was when he broke the news, that he was in love with someone else and to be married in a month. He gave her some money, a lot of it actually and begged her not to let anyone know that he was the father of the child. My mum agreed and they both decided that she'd give birth in New Jersey while my father went ahead to marry the love of his life."

She uncrossed her legs. "Mum was content with it, as long as he played his part and supported her financially. She went back to Nigeria because she wanted to depite the fact that she could actually stay here. All was well until I was ten and suddenly, we never heard from him again. She didn't have any way to reach him. So she just gave up."

She sighed. "I turned eighteen and my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors told her she had two years to live. She was the only family I knew so she wanted me to get in touch with my father you know so he can support me after she's gone. She tried everything to reach him but she couldn't. All the money she had was spent on her drugs so I couldn't even get on a plane to come find him for myself. I did anything and everything to earn money. She lived longer than the doctors had said, three extra years but those three years were horrible." She shook her head.

I felt like crying, I really did. I can't even begin to imagine what she felt when she lost her mother , having to watch her mother go through so much pain.

She sniffed. "After she died I was lucky enough to find someone who helped me get on a plane to Chicago in search of my father. Apparently, I was a year late because my father and his family had moved to Lagos the year before. I came back to Nigeria, got my bearings and got a job at my father's company."

She smiled at herself. "I wanted to just let him know and see if he would still support me despite the fact that he had stopped years ago. I wanted to be on my own and live my life, maybe find a reasonable person to marry and just forget about my father but I had a better idea."

She smirked. "I don't care to know why he forgot about my mother and I, I just want want to get my revenge. I lost the only person I knew and loved so I'm going to take someone he knows and loves. An eye for an eye."

"I'm very sure you don't know who your father is. My father would never forget or give up his responsibilities. Your mother lied to you." I told her.

In a flash she was on her feet and her hand went smack on my face.

I felt the stinging and my hand reached over my cheek.

"My mother would never lie to me." She kicked the chair to the side.

"You're sick." I spat.

She snickered. "I've been called worse baby sis."

"I'm not your sister." I shook my head. "My father can never have someone like you as a child."

She laughed. "The earlier you deal with it and accept it, the better for you."

"You'll never be related to me." I stood up now and watched her.

"You really don't have a choice in this." She rolled her eyes. "Anyways, say your last prayers, your time is almost up."

With that she walked out and the door was locked.

I'm positive everything she just told me are all lies. Even if my father is her father he would never leave them without a reason.

Though he has his bad sides but he isn't a bad person. I'm sure if she has told him what happened, he would still support her. My father isn't a bad person.

He has so much good in his heart even though sometimes he has his bad sides, everyone does but he's still a good man despite everything.

I began pacing the room. I needed to get out of here. I can't die like this.

But how? How do I get out of here?

I'm very sure that it wasn't only Jack who was securing the place. I don't even know where I am. I didn't know how far away from home I was.

Even if I managed to get out of here where do I go if I can't identify where the hell I am?

At least you'll be out of here.

Victoria think. There has to be a way out of here.

I looked around me. The only thing around was this bed.

The frame was iron. Could there be any part of the bed that I could dismantle and use as a weapon?

I bent down and found just what I wanted. This piece of iron was supposedly giving extra support to the bed frame. It was attached to the frame with screws so I started on the first screw.

It was hard to turn but I was slowly getting it. I got one screw out and started on the other.

Immediately the iron was out I heard voices, not one, not two.

Fuck

I quickly hid the iron inside the sweats I was wearing. Thank God the sweats hugged my frame perfectly well.

I stood up just as the locks of the door were undone. I could hear two extra voices plus Jack and Temi meaning they were four people and God knows how many others outside.

God help me. I prayed.

"I hope you've said your final prayer." Temi said as she walked in. Two guys I haven't seen before, both similarly dressed like Jacku walked in after her and were by my side in an instant.

They gripped my hands and I struggled against them but they didn't budge.

I just didn't want them to find the piece of iron on my body. I don't even know how I plan to use it but hitting someone's head with it was a start.

"Let me go!" I yelled as they pushed me out of the room and down the hall.

Past the bathroom and down the other corridor. They came to a halt in front of another door.

1223

The door read.

Jack opened the door and both guys that were holding me threw me in. I landed on my side and felt a sharp pain there.

I winced and struggled to sit up. This room was similar to the one I was locked up in but the floors and half of the walls were covered with a white plastic

I struggled to stand up as they all watched me.

Temi reached out to Jack and he gave her a gun. She checked if there were bullets in it before she turned off the safety and cocked the gun.

She walked towards me. "Need a minute?" She smirked.

I nodded and she turned around. I was about to reach for the iron by my side but we all heard a light tud and the next thing all three guys were on the floor. There was no blood but they were all definitely unconscious.

In that moment of distraction I took the iron and aimed for the back of Temi's head but she also turned around and I hit the side of her head, hard.

That definitely did the trick because she fell in a heap by my feet. In shock I dropped the iron with a loud clatter.

I couldn't hear anything and that made me both confused and still in shock. I quickly bent down and picked the gun from Temi's hand.

It was heavy and cold against mine. But I held unto it and pointed it towards an unconscious Temi.

I need to get out of here.

Carefully skipping over the bodies I stepped out of the room and I froze instantly.

"Victoria, you're safe." A man dressed in police gear said to me.

They were so many all dressed up in their gears like I've seen in the movies and with guns pointed my direction.

"They're all down," I said as the gun left my hand and I was pulled away.

A woman and another man led me out of the place and out under the sun.

I closed my eyes from the impact of the sun directly over me, it's been obviously over two days since I felt the sun on my skin.

"Victoria!" I heard his voice and that was enough for me to open my eyes.

I was safe.
