Chapter 40
My Identities Were All Exposed After I Was Pampered by Everyone at My Grandfather's House!
Speeding Between Life and Death
âYou! Who are you? Donât kill me, I have money, Iâll give you all my money, please donât kill me.â Trand said to Qiao Yue in a trembling voice.
âBoss, our time is up.â
Stone limped to Qiao Yueâs side. He was accidentally grazed by a stray bullet during the gunfight just now. He didnât feel anything at first, but now he started to feel a burning pain.
Qiao Yueâs eyes were cold, and Trand begged even louder for mercy.
Just when Stone thought that it was over, something happened. Trand suddenly jumped up and stabbed Qiao Yueâs left arm with a sharp dagger.
At the same time, Qiao Yueâs gunshot was heard, and Trand closed his eyes.
âAh!â
A scream sounded, followed by two more gunshots. Trandâs cry of pain startled a flock of birds.
âBoss!â
Stone looked at the dagger in Qiao Yueâs left arm in horror. He was fooled by the weakness shown by Trand and did not expect him to fight back.
Cold sweat dripped down Qiao Yueâs forehead as she kicked the crippled Trand to the ground.
âI wonât let you die so easily. Iâll let you experience all the pain those children suffered.â
Trand looked at the dagger in Qiao Yueâs arm and laughed eerily, completely unlike his previous cowardly look.
âTake him away.â Qiao Yue said to the few people who had rushed over.
âXiao Yue!â Chu Jia exclaimed when she saw Qiao Yue.
âHurry up.â
Chu Jia helped Qiao Yue while the two colleagues behind her helped Stone. The remaining two people stuffed a piece of rag into Trandâs mouth and dragged him back to the car.
Although the two off-road vehicles had their windshields cracked and exteriors seriously damaged, they could still drive. Otherwise, they would have to hide in the bushes.
After the injured had been put into cars, Chu Jia poured gasoline on Trandâs two cars. A lighter fell in a parabola, and fire soared to the sky with a bang. The two off-road vehicles then sped away.
When they entered the city, their colleagues would come to pick them up.
âBoss, in front.â
The driver said quickly.
Qiao Yue was in so much pain that she broke out in a cold sweat. She was a little dizzy, but she forced herself to look up. It was Trandâs reinforcement.
âStep on the gas and meet them. Stone, knock him out.â
Qiao Yue gave two orders in one sentence, one to the driver and the other to Stone.
Judging from Stoneâs way of doing things just now, he would definitely cause them trouble.
After receiving Qiao Yueâs order, Stone hit the back of Trandâs neck with a knifehand strike. Stone was afraid that Trand would put on an act again, so he struck him again.
The two off-road vehicles drove at their top speed and passed by the convoy that came to rescue Trand.
As if they had sensed something, the enemy convoy began to split into two groups, one rushing towards the fire while the other chased after them.
The people who could participate in tonightâs mission were all first-class experts. Even with broken windshields, they could still drive fast and avoid the impact of the vehicles behind them.
But every time the car shook, Qiao Yueâs face turned paler.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out from behind. Qiao Yue frowned. Chu Jia had said just now that she would cover them, so she followed behind them. She wondered how Chu Jia was doing.
âBoss, how are you?â
Stoneâs anxious question was filled with self-blame. If he had not been careless with Trand, his boss would not have been injured.
âItâs fine. This has nothing to do with you. I was too careless. â
Qiao Yue knew what Stone was thinking just by looking at him. Stone had always been like this. Every time someone was injured during his mission, he would blame it on himself.
With a bang, the back of Qiao Yueâs vehicle was rear-ended hard.
âChu Jia!â
Qiao Yueâs heart exclaimed as she had a moment of clarity. But just as she was about to look behind her, Stone pulled her back.
âSanzi, keep stepping on the gas, donât stop.â
Stone gritted his teeth as he spoke. They could not stop now. If they stopped, not only would they not be able to save Chu Jia, but they would also die.
Qiao Yue clenched her fists and bit her lower lip until it bled. She knew that Stone was right, but she felt like she was suffocating.
The sound of bullets hitting the car was frightening. Sanzi calmly dodged the car shooting at them from behind while great sadness permeated the inside of their vehicle.
Suddenly, Qiao Yueâs phone rang...
