Chapter 35
Girl Next Door ✔️
"Hey Mason, pass me the batter, will you?" I asked Mason as I set the oven's timer.
He passed me the batter. And continued his 'talk' with David.
David and Mason were in the kitchen with me while, all my friends were in the living room.
My parents were out of town, business work.
David and Mason weren't helping me, they were simply increasing my work.
Mason actually didn't see what he was passing to me, he passed me a bowl full of something which I didn't recognize.
I rolled my eyes.
Nobody wanted to help me, yet everyone wanted to eat the damn cake.
"Mason, David?" I called out, as I placed the batter dish in the oven.
"Yeah?" Mason asked me back.
"Mind going to the living room, while I get some stuff done?" I asked him.
He nodded as he and David left the kitchen.
I placed the timer of the oven, and took a seat on the chair.
I had thirty minutes to pass.
I could hear everyone laughing from the living room.
What were the all laughing about?
I wanted to go and chat with everyone else but they strictly told me not to come without the cake.
People can be selfish sometimes.
Selfish and bitchy. I seriously have the worst friends.
After thirty minutes, with the chocolate cake ready, I entered the living room.
As soon as I entered the room, everyone stopped talking.
Mason was about to say something but couldn't when Cole gave him a look that clearly said 'shut up or you're dead.'
Mason looked scared for a minute before deciding not to open his mouth.
Are they hiding something?
"So...should I eat this cake alone?" I asked to no one particular.
"No, I'll help you eating it." Ryder replied immediately.
"No, no one is going to eat the cake except me. No one helped me." I stubbornly said, while cutting a slice of the delicious cake.
Ryder gave me his puppy eyes which I easily ignored.
"Please." Mason said, causing me to finally give in.
His pout and his puppy eyes were something I couldn't handle.
I sighed as I placed the cake on the table.
As soon as I kept it on the table, Ryder and Brody were the first one to attack it.
I rolled my eyes.
$$$$
"Bye." I smiled at Cole as I closed the door.
It was 8 at night. Everyone left.
"Xandra!" I heard Mason call from my bedroom.
Everyone except Mason. He wanted to stay with me for the night, saying that he wanted to protect me from all the evils of the world, since my parents weren't home.
I went upstairs towards my room.
"What is this?" Mason cutely asked me, as he held my childhood photo album in his hands.
I smiled at him.
"That's my photo album. Wanna check it out?" I asked him, as I sat beside him on my bed.
He nodded as he opened my album.
The first photo was of me, as a baby.
To be honest, I was a cute kid when I was younger.
"This is me." I said, smiling at the photo.
"Who's this?" He asked pointing at my photo with Tyler and Jasmine when we were five.
I told him about my best friends.
He then asked me who was with me in the next photo.
I rolled my eyes at the photo.
It was my photograph with Peter when I was fifteen.
I told him about Peter and how annoying he was.
Mason then asked about the next photo.
It was my photo, the one in which I was getting a tattoo.
I wa--
Suddenly the light went off.
And by light, I mean the electricity went off.
The room was dark. Pitch black.
I couldn't see a thing.
"X-Xandra." I heard Mason whisper, beside me.
"I'm scared." He said, causing my hair on the back of my neck to stand.
I was scared too.
I heard someone knock my door.
I quickly grabbed Mason's hand.
Only we were present in the house at this very moment.
"There's someone in the house, other than us." Mason said, I tightened my grip on Mason's hand.
Take a breathe in. A breathe out.
Just relax. Nothing can go wrong.
I stood up from my place, as I left Mason's hand.
"Listen here buddy. I'm going to check who's there. You stay here and don't panick. Got that?" I asked him, even though I couldn't see his face in the dark.
"B-B-but what i-if the intruder comes to this room while you're gone?" Mason couldn't help but ask me, while shuttering.
"Don't be scared. There's a baseball bat under my bed. If anything like this happens that use the bat. Okay?" I assured him, before I started walking towards the door, and since I couldn't see where the door is, I randomly started walking in a direction away from my bed.
"I have a question." I heard Mason say.
"Go ahead." I said, as my leg hit something hard.
Maybe I bumped into my study table.
"Why do you have a baseball bat. I mean you're a girl, and girls don't play such games, now do they?" He asked me.
I rolled my eyes as I walked back to him.
I kneeled down to his level, as I held his hand.
"Listen, I am a girl and I used to play baseball when I was younger. A game does not justify itself whether a male should play it or a female. And in a today's generation, Girls are equal to boys. If not, much better. Never discriminate anyone on the basis of thier gender. Because in the end, we are all humans and we all live together on this planet. Got that?" I explained.
"So...you used to play baseball when you were younger. So, can you play with me and David? You know Cole and his friends don't play with us." Mason asked me.
I sighed. He didn't understand anything I just said.
I opened my mouth to say--
Another knock.
Mason gasped lightly.
I squeezed Mason's hand before leaving it and started walking towards the bedroom door.
I heard Mason call me again.
"What is it now?" I said as I sighed in irritation.
"You're..." Mason trailed off as soon as my head hit something hard.
I guess I bumped into something. Again.
"Going in the wrong direction. It is the opposite direction, Xandra." He finished as I rubbed my now sore head.
Another knock.
This time I followed the sound, as I touched everything with my hands.
I felt the door frame.
Finally, the damn door.
As I moved forward, I heard something move from my left side.
I turned to my left, as I started walking in that direction.
I felt something vibrate in my jeans' back pocket.
My phone.
I could use the flashlight.
I could've done this earlier.
I switched on my flashlight, as I further moved forward.
I felt as though something was moving from my left side.
I snapped my head in that direction, as I used my flashlight to see who's there.
No one.
I sighed.
How the fuck did I get into this situation?
Did I forget to lock the front door?
Did I leave a window open?
What did I do wrong?
From the corner of my eyes, I clearly saw something or someone move.
Whoever it was, was right behind me.
Plus, I think I saw a kid, since he wasn't very tall.
How did a kid enter my house?
What if it's Mason?
I quietly turned around, trying my best not to make any noise.
My eyes widened when I realized I knew the kid.
The kid's eyes widened too.
How did he come into my house?
Am I imagining stupid things now?
As I moved forward towards the kid to touch him, The kid panicked as he subconsciously pushed me away, causing me to fall back.
As my legs moved backwards, I realized that there was no floor at one point.
The stairs.
I closed my eyes as I waited, that I might fall and die, but that never happened.
Someone held my hand, causing me to stop falling in the middle.
Whoever it was, it surely wasn't the kid.
It was a girl's hand since it was so small.
Plus, I could feel her wearing a ring in her index finger.
Who was it?
I realized that my phone had fallen from my hand, so I couldn't see a thing.
"Don't leave me." I merely whispered as I tightened my grip on the girl's hand.
But...
She left my hand.
I couldn't control myself from falling as I fell.
I rolled down, till I felt the back of my head hit something hard.
My eyes started closing, as I felt something liquid trailing all over the back of my neck.
I couldn't take it anymore, so I let my consciousness go.
And I fell into a deep sleep.
