I couldn't get Milo out of my mind. With every step I took toward the hospital, flashbacks of the way he reacted flooded my mind. His fearful expression was clear as day and the fact that it was his parents that caused such a reaction angered me.

The hospital came into view and as if they could feel my anger, the pack members moved to the side and allowed me to enter. I quickly got the room number for Milo's parents and headed there. I could see through the window that his Mom and Dad were sitting on the bed, talking to each other. There wasn't a smile on either of their faces, but that quickly changed when they saw me.

"Alpha Slater!" Milo's mother greeted me, flashing me a smile that only filled me with disgust. "We were hoping we could talk to you—about Milo."

"Please don't blame him for his reaction earlier. It has been five years since he last saw us," His Dad explained.

"Don't worry, I don't blame him," I shook my head and their smiles grew. "I blame you."

Their smiles immediately morphed into confusion. "What?"

"I blame you," I repeated, allowing my anger to show. "Did you really think he wouldn't remember what you did to him? You came here for what? To further inflict trauma on someone you were supposed to love. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Leave the pack grounds immediately. You won't be seeing Milo ever again."

Their eyes widened and I watched as anger filled them.

"You don't have the authority to do that and it isn't your choice. Milo deserves to be with his family. I don't know what lies you've created—"

"Lies?" I scoffed. "You think the reaction he had to you earlier was based on lies? The fact of the matter is you're abusive pieces of shit who don't deserve to have Milo or to be called parents. Leave my pack grounds, I won't say it again."

I could see their angry, scornful expressions, but I didn't care. Two warriors entered and I nodded in their direction. They entered and started escorting the couple out of the hospital. They tried to stop me; tried to argue that they weren't in the wrong, but I refused to listen. I watched as they were removed from the premises and only then did I let out a sigh. That was one problem out of the way, but I still had another.

Solomon.

It hurt that I had to regard my own brother as a problem, but he had shown me that he refused to be anything other than a thorn in my side and I had enough of it.

I left the hospital and started the short journey to Solomon's house. It was a small home near the edge of the pack lands. He'd chosen to live there as opposed to living closer to the heart of the pack. The place was once a broken-down mess of a house; it was in shambles when he found it, but he had spent the last two years working to make it his own. Though we weren't on good terms at the time, I was excited for him when he first started working on the house, thinking that maybe one day we'd be able to put our differences aside and sit there making up for lost time. However, that never happened and now I was left approaching the house for the opposite reason.

The closer I got, the stronger his scent grew. I reached the front door and raised my hand to knock on it.

"Solomon!" I called out. "Open the door."

I waited, but no response came so I repeated the process and yet, still nothing happened. Was he ignoring me? Scowling to myself, I walked around to the back of the house and looked through one of the windows into the living room. It was empty. My brows furrowed and I walked around, flipping over a few of the rocks in the area until I found a spare key tucked away. I took it and approached the front door once again. I unlocked the door and when I stepped inside, I could tell that the house was empty. Everything was neatly tucked away, but it was clear to me that Solomon wasn't there.

I was about to continue looking around for any sign of where he had gone, but my movements came to a halt when I felt it. Solomon was...leaving the pack lands?

"Emilia," I linked my head warrior. "Why is Solomon leaving the pack grounds?"

"You didn't know?" Her confused voice asked.

"No, what made you think I did?" I responded. Emilia wasn't the type to make mistakes like this so I knew there had to be a reason behind the miscommunication.

"He's going to visit the Obsidian Falls Pack for two weeks to help them rebuild since their previous alpha was arrested by the council. Elder Samuel signed off on it and said you knew."

Elder Samuel? The memories of him showing up at my house and his disapproving expression when he saw Milo bite his mother crossed my mind. The thought of Elder Samuel and Solomon together made my blood run cold. Before, the two always had limited interactions with each other. They definitely weren't close enough for Elder Samuel to be signing off on a trip for him.

An unsettled feeling crossed over me and I ran my hand through my hair as I stared down at a photo of our family that Solomon had gotten from me when he moved in. Solomon wasn't the type to disappear from the picture so easily. He was planning something, I could feel it.

It didn't matter what it was, I would be ready for it. My mind traveled back to the sassy omega who was waiting for me back home. I set the picture down and closed my eyes.

I had to be ready.
