A few minutes later, I was pulling over roughly by the roadside across her house. I felt annoyed to go there with her friends around especially that man but I had to do this for answers.

With my fist tightened, I took long strides towards the building, banging on the door the moment I was before it.

I was about to bang the door again for the third time when it suddenly opened revealing my mate’s flawless face. My heart. s**d a beat as my wolf purred at the sight. He had missed his mate. I had missed her too even though we saw each other barely a day ago.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, sounding surprised and annoyed at the same time.

“Let me in, I want to talk to you,” I said, keeping a straight face and she blinked as any other person would but I found it seductive as f**k. Hell no, I should be mad at her, not falling for her again.

She hesitated a bit but moved away from the door and I stepped in, running a hand through my hair.

“What do you want to talk about? She asked and I whipped around, staring pointedly at her and she gulped. She knew why I was here.

“If I don’t attend the event as Cisco’s father, who will? Or do you

“Kaiden, you can’t come to my house just to question my decisions concerning my son”

Kai was enraged but his anger was directed at me.

Ignoring his tantrums, I replied, “I can because I am his father and this directly affects me as well.

You’re keeping me away from him. I agree we have our differences but you can’t take away this moment from him because of that”

“I’m not taking away his moment, Kaiden, we’d attend the party but not with you. Cole will go in your stead because he doesn’t have a wife and kid like you do!” She snapped but all my brain registered was her saying that human would be there with my son, my heir, my pup.

“What?” I saw red and if she weren’t my mate, I would have sent her through the wall. She noticed my anger and took two steps back, however, struggling with her stance. “How dare you, Freda!”

She looked around shakily and in a hushed tone, she spoke, “Kaiden, can you try to understand my point for once? How do you think Cisco will feel if he finds out that his father has a family already?”

“He can f** feel what he wants, Freda, I can take that but not this bull c**p, you’re not giving my position in his life to some idiot,” I said with finality in my tone and she made to speak but stopped upon hearing her human friend speak.

“Freda, what’s going on?” He asked and my heart constricted at the endearing way he spoke. This man was into my woman. I wanted to be the bad wolf and end his life so bad but I had principles.

She looked pleadingly at him as he approached, “Cole…”

“What’s going on is none of your business, mister. I suggest you leave us” I cut in, angry at the warmth I had seen in her eyes for him. She had never looked at me that way since she returned, she didn’t even want me around her. It wrecked me, I couldn’t take any more of it.

“I’m afraid I can’t do that seeing her condition. You’re scaring her” He said angrily, glaring at me and my eyes fell on Freda who was sweating profusely. S**t! “And if you don’t want someone else in your position, you should have made the decision earlier before playing with her feelings” He added and the room temperature drastically dropped.

Freda’s face paled and her eyes widened. Kia was in a struggle to surface and I didn’t try to stop him, this guy had gotten to the last bit of my nerve with that statement.

“I don’t want to warn you again, you’re not going to like to see my temper messed up. Leave now!” I gritted, my voice low and menacing.

“You don’t come to Freda’s house and boss around like you own it. If anyone should leave then it’s you. You’re causing an unrest. Pathetic” He shook his head, a smug smirk playing on his lips and he touched Freda’s shoulder, “Okay?”
