Mates 145
Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 145
KAIDEN STIRLING
âWhy you didnât tell me about Harperâs condition?â I asked, turning towards her. I was managing to keep my anger at bay, but Kai was failing miserably and it was affecting me. All the color drained from her face and neck; my heart shattered.
It was true⦠Not that I had doubted the doctor. I just⦠I couldnât really accept that she had actua***d backward and took in a shaky breath, reaching out her hand for me. âKaiden, itâs not what you think,â she said, walking around the table and heading for me. I held my hand out to stop her. I could not guarantee that I would be able to stop myself from hurting her the way she had hurt me.
And that was a lot.
âYou didnât tell me about Harperâs condition and you didnât think of how it would affect her when you didnât give her her drugs,â I said through gritted teeth, resisting tears that threatened to fill my eyes at the thought of the fact that my daughter was in a critical condition in the hospital.
âWhat are you talking about?â She asked, her voice shaky. âDonât f**g ask me that,â I spat viciously.
âYou know what the f**k Iâm talking about.â
âNo no, she has been taking her medication. I made sure the maids took care of it,â she said, starting to get hysterical as she

took short paces to the right and then to the left.
I could not believe her. The maids? She had the maids take care of something so important?
âCan you hear yourself?â I asked with disbelief, watching her. The more I looked at her, the more disgusted I got. How in the hell had I married this woman? how did I had anything to do with her?
What had I liked about her? If I had not been a s**d f**k and brought this woman. o my life, Harper would not be lying in the hospital, suffering like she most definitely was.
âYou had the maids take care of something so important?â I fumed, taking such big steps that swallowed the steps between us within seconds. I grabbed her arm. âWhy didnât you tell me she was sick in the first place? If you knew you were not going to take care of her, why didnât you tell me?!â I yelled at her.
She s**d her arm from me and took several steps back, massaging the spot I had been holding as she watched me and cried. âYou were mad at me!â She sobbed. I blinked and stared at her, wanting to be sure I had heard her right. âWhat?â I questioned, glaring at her.
âYeah, you were always mad at me! You didnât love me anymore. I never got the chance to tell you when you were in a good mood because you were never in a good mood,â she choked on her words and cried harder.
âThatâs your excuse?â I asked, staring at her with disgust and new-found, authentic hatred. I could not believe this s**d woman. âThatâs your excuse for not telling me something so important? Are you⦠Are you f***g dumb? âI didnât love you anymoreâ; thatâs why you didnât tell me?â I fumed.

âOur daughter is lying sick in the hospital because of your
negligence and your priorities are destroying your sisterâs life with this s**d f**g Council?â I yelled at her. On hearing my words, she paused her s***bs and looked at me slowly. âWh-â she swallowed.
âWhat did you say?â She asked, looking like she was about to freak out.
âDid I stutter?â I glared at her, pressing my lips together. She started to take rapid and sharp broths as the realization of what I was saying dawned on het. oâ¦no, no, no!â She screamed, running for the door. I grabbed her arm midway, breaking her run. âYouâre not going anywhere near my daughter,â I said through gritted teeth and she looked at me with anger in her eyes.
âSheâs my daughter too!â She said.
I scoffed. âYou abandoned her with the maids. I donât think thatâs how a good mom behaves,â I said in response and she gasped like I had physically hit her. She started to cry again, struggling to pull her hands out of my grip. âWhere is Francisco?â I asked her.
She paused her struggles and looked at me with incredulous eyes. âOur daughter is dying and youâre worried about that b**d?â She said under her breath. I aggressively pulled her close to me.
âThat âb**dâ you speak of is my son. You better stop calling him that, or youâll have me to answer for it,â I said, and her eyes went from angry to shocked and then to hurt.
Like I gave a f**k.
âWhere is he?â I asked again and her shoulders dropped as she spoke. âI had him locked in Harperâs playroom at Pack House.
Itâs guarded, and the guards wonât let anyone in unless they hear

from me,â she said, with resignation, shaking her head. âWeâll see about that,â I said and let go of her hand, walking away from her.
I pulled out my phone and dialed a number. âMake sure Safiya Whitlock is not allowed anywhere near the infirmary,â I instructed the Chief of the pack ard forces immediately he answered my call.
âThe Luna?â He asked, and I had no choice but to say, âYes.â
That was only because I had not made my rejection of her official. I was done with her. The next person I planned to call was á lawyer.
âYou got it, Alpha,â he said and the line went dead.
