Mates 57
Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 57
KAIDEN STIRLING
After Safiyaâs outburst I quickly rushed after her worried that she might do something to hurt herself or the baby, given her current state of mind.
I was just in time to spot her step out of the school gate. Her expression filled with fury. I quickly walked over to her as I held her hand in attempt to stop her.
She stilled for a moment in apprehension but when she looked back and realized it was me, she wrenched her hand away and continued to walk away ignoring me.
I cursed, as I quickly walked in front of her blocking her path. âWe need to talk,â I muttered calmly.
The only way I could handle the situation was by being calm. Acting angry would only infuriate Safiya further.
I didnât want anything that would endanger the baby, so I was willing to endure every insult from Safiya just for the safety of my unborn baby.
âThereâs nothing to say, you clearly made your choice back there and youâve shown me the role Iâm playing in your lifeâ. She stated as tears pooled in her eyes.
âCalm down, Safiya, youâre taking things the wrong way. Iâ¦.â. âWrong way?â she screamed, cutting me off. âWhat you did back there obviously told me everything I needed to knowâ.

âYou kept on taking Fredaâs side. Ever since Freda and that son of hers came back, youâve withdrawn yourself Kaiden. You used to hate Freda but now youâre sucking up to her?â She accused me, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
There was no way I could tell her that Cisco was my son, she didnât need that stress now, especially in this condition. âItâs not what you think, Safiyaâ I stated as I held her shoulders and turned her to face me, staring directly into my eyes.
âI am not taking anyoneâs side. I only did that to prevent things from escalating, and you were overreacting a little. Fredaâs son too was also hurt, not just ours. She is going through all is aloneâ.
âFreda, Freda, Freda. Iâm sick and tired of hearing her name. Canât you see all this is part of her master plan?, she is a conniving self centered b**hâ. She yelled and wrenched my hands away from her shoulders as she heaved uncontrollably, her body shaking from anger.
Some part of me roared in anger as my wolf growled at my mate being insulted. âDonât you dare forget that Freda was once my mate, so you will show her some respectâ. I warned and Safiya was beyond mortified.
âI knew itâ, she yelled with bulging eyes. âYou love her, you love her so much that you are blinded not to see that she is toying with you. She is drawing you away from your family. Your daughter is lying there unconscious and here you are worrying about another woman and her son?â. Safiya stated as she screamed wildly drawing attention to us.
I didnât even care about the crowd watching us from a distance. I needed to calm Safiya down before things went out of control Chapter 57

and she overworked herself causing harm to the baby.
I took a deep breath as I calmed myself down. âNobody is taking your husband away from you Safiya. All Iâm saying is that you need to calm down. The kids should be our priority right. now. Why donât we wait for them to regain consciousness and then we can revisit this issue again and ask them what really happened?â. I stated
âWhile in the meantime you go home, freshen up and take a good nap to relieve the anxiety and stress youâve been through these past few days, and you know itâs not good for the haby. I finished and she seemed to have calmed down a little b. the fire in her eyes remained.
Crossing her arms, she looked at me squarely as she began to speak. âI will only calm down once you can make Freda apologize to me publicly,â she stated and the patience I had been building to reason things with her withered away.
I rubbed my temples as I sighed deeply.â âNobody knows what happened, Safiya, itâs not right to force Freda to apologize when we arenât sure if it was really Cisco that pushed Harper down the stairsâ. I disclosed as a matter of fact.
One look at Safiya, and I could see that the raging storm I had tried to still for the past thirty minutes, came crashing down again as she began to scream once more.
âAnd you say youâre not on Fredaâs side?â She scoffed. âYou are Fredaâs pawn, Kaiden. She has already brainwashed you, and here I was thinking I could get you on my sideâ. She stated as she shook her head disappointedly.
âIâm being reasonable here, Safiyaâ. I stated getting tired of

always being put in the middle of the two sisters. âI canât just accuse Freda and Cisco or anyone else for that matter when I have no proof that they are guiltyâ.
âThey are, that child clearly provided evidence, he said he saw Francisco push Harper down the stairsâ. She yelled once more.
âWe canât trust the words of a kid and you know that as well, Safiya. Youâre only saying this because itâs Freda thatâs involvedâ.
âYes I am,â she agreed, shocking me. âI am saying this be use itâs Freda. I can never trust that vile woman, ever since she came back she has been trying to pull us apartâ. She yelled.
âThatâs not true, itâs notâ¦â. âYes, it is and youâve proved it to me once again that my suspicions are true,â she said, cutting me off.
Î
How?â I asked confusedly and Safiya walked up to me till there was barely any distance between us and stood on tiptoes as she leveled her eyes with mine.
âTell Safiya to apologize and Iâll believe you, Iâll believe that you are not on her sideâ, she stated. âI canât,â I replied truthfully. âIt doesnât work that wayâ.
Safiya backed away as she created distance between us once more. âAnd you tell me I shouldnât hate Fredaâ, she stated and stormed off angrily before I could convince her otherwise leaving me more confused than ever.
