Rejected Mate's Redemption (Freda and James)
Chapter 63
FREDA WHITLOCK
It was time for lunch. âCisco dear I called out as I finished setting the table with the help of Lyra.
âCome down for lunch honeyâ. Few minutes later, Cisco came to join us at the table.
My heart twisted in pain at how miserable my son looked. The past few days must have been so hard on him. With Safiya constantly accusing him of trying to kill Harper.
The poor kid was overwhelmed. He had been so quiet â¦ese days and he wouldnât speak about what happened with Harper and I was almost tempted to ask him.
A quick glance to Lyra stopped me as she shook her head sensing what I was about to do. I nodded, âIâll give him more time to collect his thoughts, he would tell me when heâs readyâ. The last thing I wanted was him thinking we thought he was guilty.
I casted a grateful look at Lyra, she had been so helpful these past few days, I didnât know what Iâ
would have done without her in my life. She even had the guts to stand up to Safiya and Kaiden. I was in awe of her courage.
My mind drifted off to Safiya, I was angry that she thought Cisco was responsible for Harperâs accident. I mean Cisco was injured too. But then, I really couldnât blame her any mother would be worried but she was taking it too far

I decided to blame it on her hormones. It must be the stress of her pregnancy or Georginaâs manipulations. That woman was bent on ruining my life.
She even had the audacity to come to the hospital to accuse my son. If not for Kaidenâs quick interruption, she would have created a big scene that day. The look on her face when Kaiden asked her to leave was priceless!
I glanced at Cisco again who barely touched his food. Infact, none of us had started eating yet. We were all so occupied by our thoughts. âOkay everyoneâ I stated with a laugh trying to lighten the mood. âLetâs not just stare at the food. Itâs meant to be eatenâ. I joked and Lyra gave me a small smile as she started eating.
âI didnât push Harper down the stairsâ. Ciscoâs unexpected loud voice boomed in the room making all of us drop our spoons. I looked at Lyra and she was just as shocked by his outburst as I was. âOh my poor babyâ I thought. He must have felt the atmosphere in the room and probably thought we deemed him guilty.
âI didnât push Harperâ he stated more softly this time as tears rolled down his cheeks. âI-I was only trying to helpâ. âOh honeyâ I stated as I scooped him up and placed him on my lap.
âNobody thinks you pushed Harper. We were only worried because you havenât really spoken about it in days. You havenât talked to anyone. And believe me I trust you more than anyone and would always believe what you sayâ.
âReally?â he asked in a croaked voice. âOf courseâ I replied as I ruffled his hair. âNow enough of all that. I made your favorite food for lunch,â I stated as I began to feed him while he was still

on my lap.
âDoes aunty Lyra also think so?â he asked again as he casted a pitiful look at Lyra. âOf course, kiddoâ she stated âyou didnât even need to askâ. She stated.
âYes honey, you should have seen her fighting all the people who dared to accuse you. No one here thinks youâre guiltyâ I assured as I placed a kiss on his cheek.
âOh, when will I have my own cute son?â Lyra joked and we all laughed. Halfway through lunch, my phone rang. I was surprised by the caller. It was Cole but I ignored it.
I hadnât contacted him since the day he called and now wasr really a good time as I wasnât in my best of moods. The phone rang again. âWhoâs it?â Lyra asked from across the table.
âItâs Coleâ I answered, still feeding Cisco and she gasped. âPick the call girlâ. I sighed she wouldnât let me rest until I picked the call. âCisco honey, mummy has to pick this call. Can you finish the rest on your own?â He nodded and I smiled as I dropped him- on his chair. I walked to a corner in the room and picked the call.
âFreda?âColeâs worried voice came through the other side of the phone and I was immediately filled with guilt. Cole was a good man. I shouldnât have ignored him but still I couldnât drag him into this life I was living. He didnât deserve it.
âHello, Cole,â I replied softly. âFreda, Iâve been so worried about you. You promised to call but you never didâ. He stated with hurt evident in his voice.
âIâm sorry Cole. Itâs just that a lot has happened recently. Iâve been swampedâ. I replied. âFreda, where are you? Which city are
you in? You wouldnât tell me where you are, Iâm so worried about. youâ.
How could I tell him Iâm in a pack of werewolves? Or should I just say âoh Cole sorry Iâm a werewolf and humans arenât really allowed in the werewolf pack?â Heâd freak out immediately.
âI canât, Cole, Iâm sorryâ I stated slowly. âWhy? Why canât you tell me? Is there something else I donât knowâ he asked and my heart skipped a bit.
âWhy did you call Cole?â I asked a bit too sternly and I
immediately regretted my tone. âBecause Iâm worried about you and I want to see you but you are clearly pushing me awayâ. He replied softly.
âYou canât come and see me Cole, itâs not possibleâ I stated slowly.â Why canât I?â He stated almost in a loud tone. âBecause you canât,â I replied frustratedly.
âThen if you donât want me to see you, Iâd just have to use a tracker to locate you, he threatened and I was immediately filled with apprehension.
