RECAP
"No, like, literally nothing." You said. Looking up at him.
"Hmm?" He hummed as he looked at it. "Ah, clever girl. May I present the door to my subconscious?" He laid out his hand as if it was a presentation. "Well done, you two." He said before grunting and jumping inside.
You and Hope both gasped, he just left you there.
ââââ
Hope opened the coffin and the black void wasn't there anymore. So she turned around and the streets we're now empty. You scoffed then there was just a bright light and you returned back to the Salvatore school.
"I'm so glad that's over. I'm shaking, my hands are sweaty, I-" MG rambled on, he really as shaking.
Hope scoffed and walked to the front of the Necromancer, disconnecting her hand from yours and waving her hand in front of his face. "Unbelievable." hope said, turning around to MG. "He ditched us." MG looked at the Necromancer with a shocked face.
"Send us back in, MG." You said, staying in the same position you were in.
MG looked at you. "I'm not that good at this."
"You'll be fine." Hope spoke up. "If he's going in search of answers, we need to be there when he finds them." Hope interlaced out hands once again and put her right hand on his shoulder.
MG took his eyes off Hope and towards MG. "We're ready." You said.
"Cool, that makes two of us." MG tried joking but none of us laughed.
We shut our eyes and waited for MG to send us back in. And you were back in the bar. Hope made her way to the doors but they were locked. Hope pulled on a door and it opened. "This is a little much, don't you think?" Hope yelled but no response came back from the Necromancer. She scoffed. "And you said you didn't like mind games." You quickly came over and you both started descending down the stairs. there were a lot of stairs.
You both kept walking until suddenly, there were no stairs and you both fell. "Hope!" You screamed as you fell second. You woke up on the floor and as you looked around, you saw just blackness and no Hope. "Hey Necromancer! That hurt like a bitch." You yelled. "Hope! Where are you!" You called out, but got no response.
You got up and started walking. "What do you want from me? Huh? We're both here so respond to me!" You spoke.
You started walking. "Would you like me to burn your whole subconscious or will you talk to me?" You got nothing in response so you lifted your hand up. "Incendia!" You chanted and fire did appear but nothing seemed to be burned.
"What the hell is this place?" You mumbled to yourself. "I know what you want from me. You want me to admit that I'm not at peace with my parents death but I am. Hope and I may share the same trauma but that doesn't make us any less weak." You yelled.
A tear ran down your cheek. Silence. Being alone. This was scary and deafening. "MG! Take me out, please!" You pleaded, your sat on the ground wrapped your arms around your legs. "MG!" You screamed till your throat was sore.
"What do you want me from me, huh?" You yelled. You knew what he wanted you to say so you gave in an spoke. "Fine! I want to know if my parents are at peace." You said, looking down, you then flopped onto your back as you looked up the black void
"Are my parents are peace?" You asked. "I hate being like this, alone in silence. It's basically torture!" You yelled at the Necromancer, if he was even listening. "If my parents are like this then how is this peace, no one should have to be in a place like this." You choked out.
You went onto your side, tears streaming down your face as you just thought about staying here for eternity. "Kate!" You heard someone say.
You looked over your shoulder and see Hope. "Hope.." You softened at the sight of her. Getting up you both went to each other and hugged each other.
"Are you okay?" She asked, cupping your cheeks. You just nodded while Hope wiped your tears.
Then you heard both heard footsteps coming closer. Hope turned around as got angry, immediately getting up. "Oh, hey!" He said enthusiastically.
"Don't 'hey' us. Get us out of here." Hope ordered as she walked closer to the Necromancer, you now standing up.
"With pleasure." And with the snap of his fingers, we were out. You both jumped awake, breathing heavily as you looked at Alaric. "Oops. Daddy's home." The ugly rat said in a villain-y tone.
You and Hope looked at Dr.Saltzman with sad faces but knowing you both would get yelled at. Alaric just looked at us with angry faces.
ââââ
"I mean, how could you both be so reckless?" Alaric used a tone of which you have never heard him use. We all walked into his office.
Hope fired back a response. "You weren't getting anywhere." You shut the door behind you.
Alaric turned around. "And so you both took it upon yourself? And how did that go?" He asked, he was mad, very mad.
"Not well." You responded.
Alaric scoffed. "Yeah? Well, I have it under control, girls."
"Oh, really?" Hope moved from the door and grabbed a bottle of empty alcohol. "Then you want to explain this?" She placed it on the table. She was just as mad as you were. "Or this?" She pulled out another bottle that was full and placed it on the table. "Or anything else that would explain your utter lack of progress?" Hope yelled.
"I am grieving, Hope!" Alaric yelled back. "And maybe you should try that sometime instead of pushing everyone away." Hope chuckled.
"Do you see Kate?" Hope argued. "She's grieved her whole life and yet she's still pulling through!" Hope fired back.
You looked over at Alaric, tears running down your face. "I understand that you're grieving, Alaric, but drinking," You trailed off as you moved to check what alcohol it was. "bourbon, does not have it under control." You spoke up, your voice cracking and getting lower as you tried so hard to hold back the sob.
Alaric sighed. "Look, I am trying to protect you both." Alaric stated more calming. Hope and you stood next to each other. "That this is a master manipulator. It resurrected my fiancée, it raised a cemetery of zombies and it brought back Rafael's dead girlfriend, so let's just talk about the ways in which it could torment you two," He argued back, mad again. "starting with your dead mother, ending with your dead father, and how about all the ghosts of all the people that you killed in between, huh?" Alaric obviously hit a nerve as Hope glared at him.
"And you," He looked at you. "mother and father dead in the same year, orphaned in and out of homes until landing yourself into one with Landon and Rafael and finding out that you were supernatural?" He hit a nerve with you too. Hope and you were on the verge of a sob at this point. "I can't believe you'd both do this." He was acting like a father now and Hope must've felt it to.
"Don't do that!" You yelled, pointing a finger in his face, moving positions, Hope following her lead.
Hope cut in. "You don't like that we broke your rules as a headmaster? Fine, punish us. But don't you dare play disappointed dad, because you are not our father." She snarled at Alaric, her voice getting deeper and cracking as she tried desperately not to cry.
You glared at Ric. "You can not treat me as your daughter because I've only known you for almost a month!" You shouted. "Hope's right, you can't play disappointed dad and treat me, maybe it's different with Hope, as one of your daughters." You brought your hands up to your face and wiped the tears.
"Oh I know that." Alaric replied with a sarcastic tone. Hope and you looked at each other before walking off. "And where are you both going?" Alaric called as Hope opened the door.
"To finish was we started." Hope replied in a monotone voice.
Alaric walked forward. "Like hell you two are."
You turned around. "Cloditay." You said, swiftly moving your hand as you both exited the room.
The door slamming in Alaric face. "Kate! Hope!" He yelled. He tried getting out, calling our names once again, getting no response he slammed on the door.
You and Hope entered the room with angry and hurt faces, the Necromancer still inside the cell. "Back for more?" He asked with a grin.
Hope and you walked up toward the bars. "Tell us where our fathers are." Hope angrily asked, pointing at you and her.
"I will tell you both everything you want to know, but wouldn't you like to hear about what I've just learned of Malivore first?" He responded while looking us directly in the eye. You and Hope looked at each other in confusion. "After I left you, I returned to the scene of my death. I saw a shadow. I felt a searing pain, and when I looked down there was a knife in my heart and emptiness all around me." He explained.
"A knife?" You asked.
He smiled. "The knife." He got up out of the chair, point at Hope and you. "Interestingly enough, that which I seek is that which did me in." The basically bald man said. "You've got to understand, to be killed by such a trifle of an object, I was curious as to its power, so I jumped out of my subconscious and summoned the spirit of the man who forged the knife in the first." He explained.
You and Hope had a shocked face. "You left us in there on purpose?" Hope exclaimed.
"Oh, I had work to do, and you two had lessons to learn." You scoffed while rolling your eyes. "From this man, I heard the remarkable story of Malivore, created to wipe the scourge of the supernatural off the face of this Earth. Malivore consumed us, erased us. It was permanent death. And it was in Malivore that we were left to perish. Until recently, when the knife started beckoning us to bring it home." He explained.
You looked over at Hope then back to the Necromancer. "But why a knife?" You inquired.
He came closer to the bars. "Decades ago, Malivore was contained. Three locks created to seal Malivore shut. The knife is one of those locks. When all three locks return home, Malivore is free to open its jaws of death once again." He put up 3 fingers then put both his hands behind his back.
"What does that even mean?" Hope asked, her voice almost a whisper.
He came closer to the bar. "Oh, my dears," He looked in between Hope and you. "let's just hope you're not still alive to find out." You and Hope stayed quiet, unsure of what to say or ask next.
But then you thought of something to state and ask. "So let me get this straight. You left us inside your freaky twisted mindscape so you could... what? Stall us?" You tilted your head at him. Hope nodded in agreement.
"My apologies for the melodrama, but I needed to buy meself some time." You looked at him confused. What would he need the time for? A glow-up? He continued to speak.
"To talk to some dead knife maker." Hope spoke up.
"That, and to retrieve the kn*fe your friend Dorian had hidden behind the stacks in the library." You and Hope looked at each other before back to the Necromancer.
"What?" Hope asked, shocked.
The Necromancer looked between the two of you. "Because while you two were trapped in just a small semblance of the blackness, I suffered, experiencing just an ounce of my agony, I was busy doing what I do best: controlling the dead." He explained.
"I don't understand." You softly said.
The Necromancer looked at Hope. "The answer, my darling's, is yes. I was stalling you two. Just as I'm stalling you two now." Hope and you had shocked faces plastered across your face. "Did you know that there's a lot of Bennett witches buried in the local cemetery that excel in the art of mystical transportation? I summoned a little help to ensure the knife returned to Malivore quickly and without incident." He explained. He tricked you and Hope and you two fell into the trap like ants.
"Oh my god." You whispered.
The Necromancer laughed. "Come on, look on the bright side. You two can get back to the daily grind of your young life. And in moments, when the knife is returned to Malivore, I will be free to find peace." He grinned. "As for your fathers, they watch over you two every day. They did die with love in their hearts, and Klaus doesn't regret his choice." He moved back towards his seat. "But they won't find peace, until you two do." He explained, at least we got intel on our dads. You both looked at him, not making a move to say anything, but both of you had teary eyes and a few tears escaping.
"Eh, good luck with that." He chuckled but right after he chuckled, there was rumbling heard all around us, you and Hope looked at each other in confusion before back to the Necromancer. "The knife is destroyed. One lock is released." He bowed over as if he won a prize. "And with it, so am I." He raised his arms up and the he just vanished into thin air.
You and Hope looked at where he once was. You heard Hope panting and running her hand through her hair and when you looked over she looked really sad but also scared. You were sad and scared but she really needed someone. You wrapped your arms around her shoulders, she wraps her arms around your torso and you 2 just stand there like that, enjoying the comfort this hug brings you both.
"We should go to Alaric." Your voice was deep so you wouldn't let out a sob.
Hope nodded. "Yeah." She responded, her voice exactly the same.
You and Hope opened the door to Alarics office, both of you have puffy red eyes. Alaric had a garbage bag and he was throwing away the bottles of bourbon by the looks of it. He had turned around at the sound of his door opening and you two just looked at him. You two were about to brake into a sob as you stared at the man.
ââââ
You and Hope sat in the library, writing your remembrance letters.
"Dear Dad and Mom, I haven't known of the supernatural long but I can see now that it's a very dangerous world to be in. Now, I understand why you kept it from me." You let out a sigh before continuing to write. "Today is a day called 'Remembrance day' where we get asked by teachers to write letters to our loved ones. A girl named Hope had informed me of this a couple days ago and we both didn't see the point in writing a letter, so for the whole day we didn't until finally deciding that we should after what happened with a new villain we encountered."
You were debating whether or not to explain what's been happening but you decided against it. "I'm not going to get into detail but he said that I had to find peace in order for you two to be in peace. I'm guessing writing this letter allows you two to be in peace but it won't because I haven't found peace with you two gone. I will try and find peace as hard as I can but I'm not sure if I'll be able too, honestly, I'm not sure if that was a lie so the villain could get on my nerves but who knows, maybe he was right." You paused for a minute. "Today I was in the mind of this villain and I experienced true loneliness for what felt like eternity. I hope you two aren't experiencing that right now and are living your best life in the after life." You rubbed your eyes as tears were about to fall.
"I miss you two so much." A tear escapes your eye while writing. "I wish you were still here but you can't and I understand that, but it still hurts. I love you two so much that I can't even write it down on this stupid piece of paper. I will miss you forever and love you forever. Love, Kate." You looked up at Hope, more tears streaming down your face.
Hope ripped her letter out and folded but as she did, she looked up at you and her face softened as she saw you. "It's okay, Kate.." Hope got up and engulfed you in a hug. "Come on, let's give our parents the letters." She said, grabbing hers while you did the same thing.
You both walked out to the back and placed down your letters. You wiped your eyes and when you turned around you both saw Alaric standing over a grave by the looks of it. Rafael then approached. "Hey." He said as he stopped in front of us.
"Hey." Hope responded while you slightly nodded at him. "I'm sorry we didn't have your back today, I dragged her with me so don't be mad at her." She paused, Rafael just stayed quiet. "Apparently, we were too busy launching phase one of Mali-pocalypse." Hope explained.
Rafael looked at Hope. "It's okay. Dr.Saltzman, he... he had my back." He turned to Alaric before back to you two. "He still mad at you two, huh?"
"He's probably gonna be mad at us for a while." You cut in.
You 3 started walking away from the graves. "Yeah, well, at least with the knife gone, maybe we can finally get some quiet here." Rafael joked.
Hope laughed softly. "I wonder fit that's possible." The happy moment went away when Hope's bracelet lit up blue, an arrow pointing somewhere.
"What's wrong?" You asked Hope, all of you coming to a stop.
Hope looked up at you. "Landon's in trouble." Your breathe hitched as you grew worried off al the things that could be happening with him.
