This Is The Part Where You Run
Part 1

"When we're young, we're taught the distinction between a hero and a villain, good and evil, a savior and a lost cause. But what if the only real difference is just who's telling the story? My name is Hope Mikaelson. I come from a long line of the villains in the tales you've heard about vampires, werewolves, witches, and everything in between. The school behind these gates protects the secrets of people like me. And tonight, under the light of the full moon, we will be opening our doors to someone new."
But Hope didn't anticipate that another person would be partnering with this new person.
ââââ
You walked beside Landon and Rafael, just moment away from the church where your foster parents are going to make Rafael 'confess sins'.
"Raf, honestly, you shouldn't be doing this." You commented just outside the church stopping him from walking up the stairs and into the Church. He turned around and looked at you. You looked over at Landon nodding in agreement.
Rafael sighed. "It is what it is, guys." Rafael looked at them with a sad face.
Landon spoke up, looking at his friend - no, brother. "You're not catholic, you shouldn't have to confess your sins." Landon took a slight step forward, trying to prove a point.
"I tossed a lawnmower through the patio doors, bruh." Rafael paused. "If apologizing to God gets Hector and Maria off of my back, so be it." He shrugged, walking into the church, You and Landon close behind.
"Buenas tardes, Father Pietro." Rafael spoke, lowering his head a bit.
Father Pietro lowered his head asa well. "Buenas tardes, Rafael. Por favor, pray with me." Father Pietro spoke. You and Landon watched as Hector walked up to you two.
"Landon, Kate, you can leave now." Landon and You looked over at Rafael worried looks on both your faces but yours weren't as noticeable as Landon's. Noticing the worried look on Landon's face, Hector continued. "It's okay, we can take it from here."
Landon looked at Hector, slightly stepping in front of you. "We're good, Hector."
"Landon, this is between your foster brother and God, okay?" Maria took a nicer approach.
Rafael looked back at us and spoke. "Hey, I got it bro, sis. Just wait outside." His voiced calmed your nerves as well as Landons, you two made your way outside while Rafael prayed with Father Pietro.
As you two sat outside, you both put ear phones in listening to music, you got on your back and placed your head in Landon lap, looking up and him with a smile which he returned, unaware that Maria was locking the door from the inside with chains.
You and Landon stayed like this listening to music until a car pulled up. You got up and watched as a beautiful girl walked out of the car and a man walked from the drivers seat towards the girl. "Landon." She stopped walking and looked over a my brother not paying attention to me, until she did, she gave You a look you couldn't read, and you were really good and reading peoples expressions.
"Hope?" Landon replied in a question. You take out your ear phones and Landon does the same, turning off the music. hope's attention went back to Landon. You and Landon both stand up.
"You two know each other?" The older man asked, you knew him from somewhere but couldn't remember where so you brushed the thought away.
Hope continued to gaze at Landon a slight smile tugging at her lips. "Long story." The 'touching' moment was cut short as Rafael's screams were heard as well as glass shattering.
"Rafael." You mumbled, looking at Landon, Landon looking at you, both of you worried for your brother.
The girl spoke up. "Dr. Saltzman." Saltzman, you swear you've heard the name but can't remember.
"Yeah, I'm on it." He says, making his way to the door, only to his surprise it's locked from the inside. "Door's are locked." He said looking back at the girl named 'Hope'.
"Dissera Portus!" The girl yelled as she walked to the door. The doors swing open but to your surprise, you and Landon look inside to see Rafael on the floor in agony. "You're going to want to stay out here, Landon, you too Mystery Girl, trust me." The girl spoke. There was pained yells, cracking of some sort and coughing coming from inside, but what confused you most was why Father Pietro was screaming Latin in Rafaels face.
The girl walked inside the church, the Saltzman guy walking beside her. You and Landon didn't listen to the girl and walked inside with them.
"Shut down the exorcist, would you?" The Saltzman asked the young girl.
Without hesitation, the girl yelled a word. "Silencio!" Muffled gasps and Rafael's screams were heard. "Ad Somnum."
"Help me...". Rafael pleaded, looking up at the young girl and man, before spotting Landon standing in next to me. Rafael grunts again.
"What's happening?" Landon asked but got no response. Cracking was heard and another response came out of Landon. "My god..."
Rafael pleaded again. "Help me." Rafael screamed as another crack is heard.
The Saltzman guy looked over at Hope. That's when he dropped bags and brought chains out. Hope grabbed some and attacked them to Rafael and Alaric did the same. Once the chains were hammered into the ground and they were done, he spoke up. "Easy does it, easy now."
Before us stood something that was only in myth. A Wereeolf the colour of Jet Black that was once the brother of you and Landon.
ââââ
All 5 of you were in a car, you and Landon have no idea where you're going. Rafael is out cold after turning back into a human.
"How do you two know each other?" Alaric - he introduced himself - asked.
"He used to serve me milkshakes at the Mystic Grill." Hope softly said, as if any louder it was break something.
Landon had a little smile which caused you to smile, seeing that he was happy. "Peanut Butter Blast. Whipped cream on the bottom." Landon paused. "We danced once."
Hope looked back at him. "We tried." She giggled. "And then you moved away."
Landon was quick to fire back a response. "Then you made a door blow off its hinges with your brain." Landon looked at you but you were focused on looking outside but still listening. He continued. "Do you feel like explaining that?"
Alaric took this as his chance to speak. "Oh, we'll explain everything. We're almost there."
"Where are we going?" You asked softly, not looking ahead at the dashboard.
The older man looked into the mirror. "Somewhere safe."
ââââ
We finally arrived at the 'safe' place. You, Landon and Rafael stood next to each other. Hope beside you and Alaric beside Rafael. "Welcome to The Salvatore School. We're your tour guides." The blonde girl says.
"I'm Josie." The Brunette said.
"I'm Lizzie." The blonde quickly said as if she wanted all the attention. "Sisters."
"Twins." Josie stated.
"Fraternal. Obvs." Lizzie said, you mentally rolled your eyes.
Alaric sighed before speaking. "Rafael, why don't you go ahead with the girls while I talk to Landon and..." He trailed off, of course he didn't know my name, you haven't told him yet.
"Kate." You responded. He nodded.
"Morning Hope." The twins said in union as they each linked an arm on Rafael leading him away.
"Morning girls." Hope replied in an almost monotone voice.
Lizzie rolled her eyes. "More like despair."
"I heard that." Hope raised her voice a little because they were further away.
"No, you didn't." Lizzie yelled back.
"Didn't have to." Hope replied, obviously annoyed.
"Everyone, behave." Alaric called out.
"Love you, Dad." Was the last thing you guys heard of the twins before making your way inside the building. The sign read 'Salvatore', you've heard the name but just can't remember where.
Alaric sighed. "So... let's get started." He said, letting us walk through the building and look around. Laughter and chatter is heard as we walk through the boarding school. "I'm curious, Landon and Kate," Before Alaric could continue a kid ran past us. "Slow down." Alaric called before continuing, were you aware of us when you lived in Mystic Falls?"
You shook your head, you weren't aware of them. All you did was go to Mystic Falls High with your brothers.
"Uh, I knew Hope went to some fancy boarding school. People in town said it was for troubled rich kids.." He trailed off as he looked around, you kept your head fixated on the kids lifting up books. "I see the witch part is true. Nobody mentioned anyone in here could do that." He pointed at some kids lifting books, the same ones you were looking at.
Alaric stopped in front of a door. "No one in Mystic Falls knows much about us. We blend in just enough. Participate, contribute just enough." Alaric opened the door, letting us walk in first, Landon taking a seat, asking if I wanted it but I shook my head. You look at Hope shut the door. "Keeps people from asking too many questions."
You look up at him. "What is there to know, exactly?" You questioned.
Alaric looked over at you. "Well, I used to have a speech prepared, carefully unpeeling the layers of mystical history, but it turns out most people have read Harry Potter and are actually cool with me skipping the tee-up."
Landon spoke up. "You're a school for magic?"
Alaric shook his head slightly. "We are a school for the supernatural, which covers a lot of territory. Everyone here has something that makes them special in ways that the outside world... wouldn't understand."
Landon's hen looked at Hope. "So, what are you?"He questioned. Hope had a look of terror on her face as she moved uncomfortably in her shoes.
"I should get to class." Hope quickly said, going to move away.
Landon yelled. "No!" Hope turned so her body was facing Landon. "No. Sorry. I don't mean to be a dick, but I don't know you, and though the image of you whammying a priest is still fresh, we need you here." Landon put it in a odd way but it still made sense. Landon sighed. "Just tell us what all that was in the church last night."
Hope sighed, taking a seat in front of Landon. "What do you think it was?"
"Well, as best as I can reason, either I've lost my mind or werewolves are real." Landon responded. Hope nodded that he was correct. "Th-This is beyond insane. How is that even possible?"
Alaric intervened. "It's a long story, involving and ancient, vengeful witch and a bloodline curse. We cover all that in Origins of the Species, grade six." Alaric finished.
You cut in. "In sixth grade at our school, we learned the state capitals." You honestly were confused but at the same time you weren't, if felt as if you belonged here, as if you were drawn to this place, you had no idea why.
Alaric laughed. "We teach that, too." But he was quick to change subject. "I have some questions about Rafael."
Landon looked at Alaric. "Like what?" You were also intrigued as to what he wanted to ask.
"Well, let's start with who he killed recently." Alaric said, dead serious.
Landon looked at me and you looked at him. Hope looked between us, knowing we knew something. You didn't want to say anything and he didn't so you both looked at the Saltzman disgusted and confused by the question. 'How are we going to get out of this...' You think to yourself.
