RECAP
Tears started falling down Hopes cheeks. "No. I won't let you do it." Hope shook her head. "We'll find another way, there has to be another way." Hope stated, clearly upset.
Knowing you weren't going to win this conversation because Hope is so stubborn, you brought her in a for a hug. "Okay." You whispered, Hope hugging you back. "We'll find another way." You continued.
The both of you just stood there in a hug, neither of you wanting to make a move.
ââââ
Lizzie was fast asleep as a dream then approached her. She then saw you and after a few pictures she gasped awake, realising it was a memory. "Kate. Olivia. Lockwood." Lizzie said as she remembered you, surprised.
ââââ
You were doing sit ups while keeping an eye on the Malivore pit. "Kate, Olivia, Lockwood." The familiar voice of Lizzie spoke up.
You turned around and looked at Lizzie shocked as she walked forward, you getting up. You stayed quiet for a while as you weren't sure wha to say. "What?" You questioned, surprised.
"It's offical. I remember everything." Lizzie continued. "When I woke up from that spell Josie blasted me with, you popped into my messed-up brain like an acid flashback." She continued.
You had a smile on your face as this was a relief someone other than Hope, remembers. Not that it's a bad thing Hope remembers you, it's just that shes a tribrid so obviously she'd remember you. "How?!" You questioned. "You are literally the only person on the planet who knows that I exist, besides Hope." You walked forward to give your cousin a hug but Lizzie stopped you.
Stopping, you stared at her. Lizzie ignored the fact Hope remembered you and continued. "Epic former cousin-frenemy, whatever you want to call it, reunion is gonna have to wait. We have bigger drama." She came to a stop. "Josie and Landon are having sex tonight." Lizzie told you.
You stared at her, confused. "What?" You questioned Lizzie.
Lizzie rolled her eyes. "That's besides the point. There's a decade dance." She continued.
You were so confused why you needed to know about Landon having sex. You aren't his girlfriend, you already have one. "Okay?' You responded. "That doesn't mean that-" Lizzie cut you off.
"She asked me to find and excuse to stay with my dad." She stated. You looked the ground before back to Lizzie. "You have to stop it." You went to speak up but Lizzie stopped you. "Speak your truth. Spill your beans. Tell your tale." Lizzie rambled.
You groaned. "Lizzie!" You called and she stopped. "Wha-Why would I care about his sex life?" You questioned. "I'm with Hope, remember?" You stated.
Lizzies face went to one of realisation. "Right." She responded, dragging out the whole word.
You looked down again. "Why didn't you tell her?" You questioned, crossing your arms as you looked back up.
"Because I didn't want to be the one to tell her our cousin is alive and that I remember her after she blasted me with a butt load of black magic and I didn't want to be the one to break her heart." Lizzie explained. Your heart melted when you heard her say 'cousin' but that changed quickly. "That's Hopes job."
You put your head in your hands. "Lizzie. Sweet of you calling me cousin for the first time, but I'm gonna repeat what I've said; I don't care about Landons sex life." You stated. "And neither should you, but why do you care?" You questioned her.
You looked back up and Lizzie looked between your eyes. "Because I don't want her sleeping with mop-head." Lizzie replied in what sounded like a doubtful tone."Ugh, not a good time." Lizzie stated randomly.
You moved to stand next to Lizzie as you watched the pit gurgle and white smoke come from it, indicating a monster was coming. Just then something came through and started coughing but quickly started acting like as if she was a princess or something as she looked around. "Who the hell are you?" You questioned.
The girl looked at all three of you, giggling a little. "I'm the keeper." She responded, thinking we knew who she was. You both looked at her confused. "Ah. This is gonna be a lot easier than I thought." She stated, laughing before raising her right arm. "Welcome to the game." Her bracelet lit up and then she disappeared like when a arcade game character dies.
Lizzie moved her footing. "Well, that was, anticlimactic." Lizzie said and you started walking off.
"We have to get to the school to protect Landon." You stated as this was the next monster so he needs protecting.
Lizzie ran to catch up to you guys. "More like protect Josie from Landon by warning her she's about to have sex with a human-sized muppet." She responded. You two then stepped onto the road only for a noise to happen and a car come speeding, killing you two.
You all then woke up on the floor, you and Lizzie lifting yourselves up. "What just happened?" Lizzie questioned.
You stayed looking at the ground. "I think the game just started." You responded.
You then got up and Lizzie followed your movements. The both of you came to a stop at the edge of the footpath, not touching the road. "Okay, let's try this again." You stated, the both of you checking both ways.
Lizzie decided to speak up. "So, since we're trapped here, are we ever gonna talk about how you came back from Malivore and decided not to tell any of us?" Lizzie questioned, looking over to you. "Excluding Hope, obvi." She continued.
You looked between her eyes. "Sorry. I'm a little busy keeping us from being road kill." You replied and Lizzie didn't respond. 'Projectium Deflecta." You chanted as you let out your hand. Looking over at Lizzie, you had a hopeful face. "That should protect us." You stated.
Both of you started to walk onto the road only for the car to come speeding and hit you two again. You then both lifted yourselves up from being on the ground once again. "I don't think we have magic here." You stated, a little upset.
Lizzie looked over at you. "Or you just did the spell wrong." Lizzie replied.
She then placed her hand on your shoulder and you looked over at her hand, unable to siphon the magic. "How's that siphoning going?" You responded sarcastically. "I may still be a newbie, but Hope taught me all the magic she knows, okay?" You responded.
Lizzie groaned as she took her hand off of you. "Okay, fine. There's obviously no magic. And we're in some sort of death maze from hell." Lizzie continued before looking at someone on a bench. "And... why is it the eighties?" She questioned.
You then looked around, also confused before looking at Lizzie. "Speaking of, have you ever played Frogger?" You questioned. Lizzie looked at you 'no idea' face.
The both of you were now at the end of the road, looking for any cars in sight. As soon as you put your foot on the road, a car comes speeding by, only to splash water onto you and Lizzie, the both of you gasping as you were drenched. You then started walking to the shop in from to get clothing as you shook as much water off as you can.
The both of you then chose your eighties themed clothes and went into the change rooms. After finishing and getting out, you and Lizzie looked at each other. "Acid wash in clearly your thing." You stated, surprised how nice she looked.
Lizzie smiled and looked down at her clothes. "Right?" She responded before looking back up at you. "You kind of look fierce, too." She continued.
"Thank you." You responded. "But now we got to get out of here." You continued speaking. Lizzie nodded in agreement.
The both of you walked forward. "Oh, my hair is still wet." Lizzie stated as she grabbed the hair dryer and plugged it in, only for you both to be electrocuted and sent back to the beginning. At least your hair was now dry. "Should have seen that one coming." Was all Lizzie said.
ââââ
Hope walked up to Alaric as he was done talking to the new professor. "Have you seen Lizzie anywhere? And Kate?" She whispered the end bit.
Alaric shook his head. "No, not today." He responded. "Why?" He questioned her.
Hope crossed her arms, looking between his eyes. "Well, Lizzie wouldn't want to be late for this party and Kate and I were supposed to meet at the Malivore pit to make sure no new monster comes but when I went to check she wasn't there." Hope explained.
Alaric placed his hands on his waist. "Hmm. Well, Kate is probably-" Alaric didn't get to finished.
"I waited for 30 minutes, she never showed up." Hope stated.
The older man shrugged in response, unsure what to say. "Well, I'm sure they're both somewhere." He responded, leaving Hope alone with her thoughts.
ââââ
You and Lizzie were walking down the street, searching for a way to get back to the real world. "We've never made it this far." Lizzie excitedly exclaimed. You then stepped on a land mine as you heard a ding, the both of you looked at each other before looking down and to be hit with an explosion.
The both of you respawned and lifted yourselves up. "A land mine? Really?" You questioned as you let out a breathe. "What's wrong with this decade?" You angrily said.
You and Lizzie just stayed seated there. "Reaganomics? Recreational cocaine? Jams?" Lizzie listed off, looking a you.
You looked at the ground. "If only there was a secret or-or a clue." You responded, looking behind you to see a store literally named 'clue store'.
Lizzie looked away and scoffed a little. "Unless you see a clue store around her, Kate, then I don't think-" Lizzie then looked over at where you were looking. "Okay." She stated, smiling, both of you looking at each other.
Quickly, the both of you got up and went to the store, entering it, you first then Lizzie. As you walked through all you could see was light shining down on a girl in the dark store. "Oh, hey." She dragged out the 'hey', turning on the lights, obviously it became easier to see. "Looking for something?" She questioned sarcastically.
You cocked your head to the side, crossing your arms over your chest. "Uh, yeah, actually. How do we get out of here?" You replied with a questioned.
Lizzie looked around. "And why are we in out grandparents' decade?" She also questioned her.
The girl clicked her tongue slightly. "Oh, yeah. Sorry. It's the only decade I know." She responded. "Turns out you miss a lot of pop culture when guys in black suits drop you into a giant pit of goo." She responded. You and Lizzie looked at each other as she meant Malivore. "As for getting out of here goes, uh, you don't. You play the game until my pet feeds on you, and then you die" She placed stuff on a shelf behind you and Lizzie. "For reals." She said, turning around to look at the two fo you.
You and Lizzie stayed quiet, not saying anything. "This game was specifically designed to kill beautiful maidens, so, I'd say it's a pretty good fit." She finished.
"Oh." Lizzie rolled her eyes while you let out an angry sigh. "So glad we stopped in." She responded sarcastically. "Let's go." Lizzie stated, starting to walk off, you following her.
The girl then stopped you two, obviously desperate. "There is, um, one way out." She walked in front of you two. "One of you agrees to take my place." She said as if it was easier said than done. "Look, I was trapped here once, too, okay? Just like you two, and I-I don't really feel like being the Keeper of the Game, like, forever. So, one of you agrees to wear this bracelet, you get to be the new me. And the other one is set free." She explained.
You rolled your eyes as you let out yet another agitated sigh. "Thanks, but, uh, no thanks." You stated, going to walk off but she stopped you two again.
She stepped in front of you two. "Actually, I'm afraid there's no other option." She stated, the both of you annoyed. "Yeah. You take the deal, or my pet kills you. That's the endgame." She continued. There was a distant roar heard in the distance, the girl fake gasped. "Speak of the devil." She whispered, both you and Lizzie looking around for where that roar was coming from. "Ah. I love this part." She sated so happy.
You all stood in one line just as the wall came crashing down and a bull type thing appeared. You and Lizzie were shocked but also knew you were defenceless without your powers. "Oh my god!" Lizzie started running.
You started running as well. "Hurry, come on!" You yelled as you were a bit faster than her. You both were now running through the forest while the bull type thing was following but you and Lizzie hid behind a tree, actually loosing the bull as he ran the other direction. "Okay. I think we lost him." You breathed out as you caught your breathe.
Lizzie moved from the tree to walk next to you. "At least we finally made it out of the lame town square, no thanks to you, Captain Almost-Stepped-on-the-Land-Mine-Again." Lizzie fired.
You looked over at her. "You killed us with a hair dryer. Never forget." You fired back. "The school's up this way." You stated as you looked around the woods.
Lizzie glanced at you before back in front. "If only there were something to talk about on the way. Some burning question. Some mysterious choice that demanded an explanation." She was getting annoying now.
"Okay, fine." You dragged out the 'y'. Becoming quiet for a little bit. "I was gonna tell everyone that I was back. But then I saw Landon and Hope kissingâHe had grown feelings for her, not the other way aroundâand they looked happy but Hope said she wasn't happy without me." You started explaining, playing with your fingers. "But it did seem like you all were better off without me and I see that's still true, besides Hope." You finished.
Lizzie looked at you since she thought you were talking crap. She scoffed then got in front of you, causing you both to stop. "What is wrong with you?" Lizzie questioned you. You looked over at her with a offended look. "Do you really have that much of a martyr complex that you couldn't just oh, I don't know, ask one of us how we were doing?" Lizzie questioned.
You looked between her eyes, she really did seem hurt. "Look, I know that it seems kind of-"
You were unable to finish since Lizzie cut you off. "Dumb? Selfish? Controlling?" Lizzie listed.
Looking down at the ground, you scoffed. "Painful." Stated as you looked back up.
Lizzie stayed quiet and searched for the words. "No one's been better off without you." She started, more calm. "Landon was just filling a void left by you because you're his sister. Hope spent three months cooped up in her room doing something, none of the school knew what but now it's obvious since I remember you." Lizzie continued.
You didn't know Hope did that. "My dad is lonely. Raf's a mess again, and apparently I'm hallucinating boyfriends." You had a slight questioning face on as Lizzie said that. "If my broken mind can remember you, then maybe that spell Josie did could bring everyone's memories back." Lizzie explained. "Yes, you and Hope are made for each other, but the love you have for your siblings will be just as powerful, trust me, I know." Lizzie stated, causing you to smile.
"Also we need to stop Josie and Landon from doing the the deed, fast." Lizzie now finished.
She then started walking off in a direction, you following and your smile disappearing as your face went to one of confusion again. "You hallucinated a boyfriend?" You questioned.
Lizzie looked over at you with a 'are you serious' face before hitting her leg into a trip wire, two darts flying into your necks. "Tell you in a second." Lizzie said before you both passed out and fell to the ground.
