Part 2

RECAP

You lowered your arms as you were going to have to deal with the smell. "What kind of monster do you think we're dealing with?" Lizzie questioned you and Hope but also herself.

Your eyes trailed to the door to the left of you that had words written on it. "A Croatoan." You read off the door.

Lizzie rolled her eyes. "How do you know that?" Lizzie questioned, annoyed that you guessed already.

You let out a soft groan. "Call it a hunch." You replied in a monotone voice to Lizzie.

————

You, Hope and Lizzie were now in the Salvatore Gym with Kaleb, Rafael, Landon and some new girl who looks related to Kaleb. "Okay, Squad." Lizzie took a few steps forward towards the group. "We have a problem, and we're down a witch because Josie's in Richmond for Commonwealth Day. Which is bad for us, because-" Hope cut Lizzie off before she could continue.

"A Croatoan came through the portal. And it killed a councilman." Hope explained.

The three of you looked around the group. "What the hell's a Croatoan?" Kaleb asked.

The new girl snapped her fingers. "Hold up. The lost colony of Roanoke." She stated. All of you have no idea what that is as you loved history. "Seriously? Not one of you?" She questioned.

Landon looked back at the new girl. "I'll play. Roanoke. It's one of the first English settlements in North America until it just vanished without a trace." Landon explained, he knew it and you didn't? You two always had a little competition to who knew the most history but sadly he couldn't remember that and that broke your heart.

The girl smiled at Landon, happy he knew. "And the only thing left behind was a word carved on a tree: 'Croatoan'." She finished his sentence. Kaleb looked over at the girl, confused. "What? I'm a history nerd." She stated as she looked at Kaleb. "Why else would I be here for Commonwealth Day?" She questioned.

Kaleb rolled her eyes and looked at everyone in the group. "Uh ig-ignore her. Her visitation privileges are about to be revoked." The girl then lightly punched Kaleb and Kaleb lightly smacked her back.

You let out a sigh as you didn't have time for this. "The monster is here, and it's after Landon, so we need to get him somewhere safe." You commented, all the attention towards you.

Kaleb started walking down the bleachers to stand in between Landon on the seat and Rafael standing up. "Okay, um, no offense, but why is some girl from Mystic Falls giving us orders?" Kaleb questioned.

You mentally yelled at yourself as you forgot that they forgot about you. "Oh, it's because she's a wolf." Rafael said. Lizzie stared at Kaleb. "Because she's a witch." They both said at the same time.

Looking down at the ground you let out a large sigh. Hope placed a hand on your back in a form of comfort. "Most importantly, she knows how to kill monsters." Landon butted in, looking up at the girl.

You placed a hand on your forehead before looking back up. "That's so cool." She said which made you slightly smile.

Rafael finally spoke up. "Wait, guys. What about the zombie?" Rafael questioned the group. "I thought Malivore could only release one monster at a time." Rafael stated.

You crossed your arms over your chest and looked at Rafael. "Yeah. That's what we all thought." You replied.

Kaleb only scoffed at your comment. "How the hell do you know about Malivore?" Kaleb questioned moving forward and acting tough.

You didn't know what to say so you looked over at Lizzie and Hope for help. "Oh, w-we filled her in." Lizzie lied. You nodded your head, making a 'mm-hmm' noise. "Yeah. She-She took down the Oni, and she killed the Minotaur." Lizzie started rambling. Hope didn't know about this part so this was going to be a fun conversation. "Although that was actually really more me." Lizzie stated, trying to take the pride.

You looked over at Hope with a apologetic face for not telling her as she was starring at you with a face that read 'why didn't you tell me'. "Wait, wait. There was a Minotaur?" Landon questioned Lizzie, upset he didn't know about the creature.

Lizzie looked at Landon. "Yeah. Not everything's about you." Lizzie remarked, earning a slap in the arm from you, she just screamed 'ow' under her breathe so no one paid attention.

Kaleb was done with what was going on and moved back to the Croatoan. "So, then, what's the plan, Miss Other Were-Witch?" Kaleb questioned you.

You faked being confused at the word 'other' being used but faked ignored it and started speaking. "The plan is that Hope and I will take Landon, put a barrier spell around him-" You didn't get to finish.

Lizzie had interrupted you, causing you to glare at her. "Oh- wh—wh-what she means is that I will babysit Landon while everyone else is at Commonwealth Day while Hope and Kate do their whole monster hunting deal." She had now moved in front of you and Hope until the end where she turns around to look at you and Hope.

Landon then stood up. "That is a great idea. And you know who should go with them? Rafael." Landon had pushed Rafael forward, almost bumping into you, causing you to move instinctively towards Hope. Landon was then biting his lip, meaning he was up to something.

The new girl then spoke up. "I can help with research."

"Yeah, from the safety of your hotel room." Kaleb was quick to respond.

You rubbed your eyes as this was so chaotic. "Okay. Super Squad disassemble or whatever." Hope said.

Kaleb then put his hand out, Landon doing the same. "Super Squad." Kaleb said.

You all watched as this was weird. "Cool." You said, placing your hands on your waist. "Okay, great." You continued.

They all proceeded to leave. "No? Not done here?" Kaleb mumbled under his breathe before he left.

Lizzie then moved in front of you and Hope again. "It's a good plan. It keeps you as far away from Landon as possible." Lizzie stated.

You immediately whipped your head up at Lizzie. "Are you serious?" You questioned the blonde. "Oh my god, you are. I'm not worried about me blowing my secret to Landon than I am about you blowing my secret to him." You confronted Lizzie.

Lizzie rolled her eyes as your confrontation. "Relax." Lizzie stated, lightly scoffing, earning a harder scoff from you. "I'll just ask him about Star Wars or something, and then he'll talk the whole time." You and Hope chuckled at Lizzies response. "You have nothing to worry about." Lizzie continued.

You had a small smile as you looked at Hope then back to Lizzie. "Okay." You responded. Lizzie turning around and walking away, leaving you and Hope.

————

You, Hope and Rafael were in the woods. All of you on the ground, tracking the Croatoan, or trying to at least. "I got to admit, it's-it's nice to get a break from town." Rafael broke the comfortable silence, causing you to glance at him before back to tracking. "You know, crowds still get my heart racing." Rafael finished.

You dropped the piece of bark you were holding and stood up, Hope following your actions. "It can't be easy to adjust to being around people." You responded.

Both you and Hope started walking, Rafael catching up. "Talking with you helps." Rafael said, more directed at you.

You coughed a little at that comment as it was a bit awkward but you then covered up how you were feeling with a little bit of laughter. "Me? You don't even know me." You stated, your voice having a slight tone of awkwardness.

Hope looked over at Rafael as he started speaking again. "But I feel like I do." He stated, you then looked at Hope to see she was looking at you. "It's like I'm-i'm supposed to or something." You licked your lips a little before you all came to a stop. "Look, look, I know you must already have a couple dozen guys or-or-or girls that are interested in you. I-I-" Rafael stated, unsure where to go afterwards.

You crossed your arms over your chest, chuckling a little, glancing at Hope before looking up at Rafael. "Technically, um, I am seeing someone." You replied to Rafael, knowing it would break his feelings a little but you didn't want to 'cheat' on Hope.

Rafael nodded his head, upset but didn't let it show. "Then you should know that I'm not afraid of technicalities." Rafael responded, earning a smile from you.

You then looked at Hope. "You know, you don't have to feel obligated to talk to me and me only, I'm sure Hope can help you." When you said that, Hope sent the biggest and meanest death stare she has ever given you. You only sent her a wink before walking again.

————

Lizzie placed a dark coloured candle on the table in front of Landon. "What is that?" He questioned the blonde girl.

The Saltzman glanced at Landon before grabbing the matches. "A dark object from the school archives." She then lit the match against the box. "Once I light it, nothing supernatural can get inside. This should prevent you from becoming Croa-toast." She lit the candle on fire, earning a purple spark to emerge as it was a dark object.

Landon watched as Lizzie shook her hand to make the fire on the match stop burning its way to her hand. She then placed the match box down. "Um, I saw you, Hope and Kate hanging out. Do you know if Kate's seeing anyone?" Landon questioned the Saltzman.

Lizzie looked up at the brunette haired boy, knowing she was but decided to ask a different question. "Shouldn't you be focusing on Josie?" Lizzie replied with a question.

Landon shook his head as Lizzie mistook his words. "Uh, yeah. I was asking for Rafael." Landon explained.

Lizzie felt a heavy weight be lifted off her shoulders. "Good. Because now you've watered the garden of Josie's eternal flower, I would think that you would hold that to be sacred." Lizzie explained Landon having sex with her sister in a weird way.

Landon looked between her eyes, a little confused. "Please tell me that's a metaphor." Landon replied.

Lizzie let out a sigh at Landons response. "My point is, once you've boned, you can never unbone." She stated in a better way.

Landon chuckled softly. "Not a metaphor." He immediately said.

"And it would be a real crap guy move for you to shift your sights elsewhere." Lizzie looked down at a book, not looking at Landon anymore.

Landon was amazed Lizzie would think that low of him. "For the record, I would never do that." He stated, although Lizzie didn't believe him. "Also, we didn't." He figured the blonde should know that they didn't have sex.

Lizzie shot her head up immediately as he said that. "I'm sorry, what?" She said, closing her book and standing up.

Landon looked between the blondes eyes. "Not that it's any of your business, but there was no..." Landon trailed off, searching for the right words. "Watering? Boning? Whatever." He didn't know what word to choose.

Lizzie was relieved that her sister didn't have sex with him. "Oh, my God. This changes everything." She said to herself.

Landon looked Lizzie up and down, confused. "How?" He asked.

Lizzie turned around, searching for an excuse. "Never mind." She stated, acting less happy. "Tell me, where do you stand on Ewoks?" Lizzie questioned the brunette haired boy.

The conversation started in the library then moved to the kitchen. "I mean, they're basically teddy bears, and who hates teddy bears? If you hate teddy bears, that's on you. That's all I'm saying. Especially teddy bears who took down the Empire. That's where I stand on Ewoks." He said, finishing a sandwich and holding it up.

Before Landon could take a bite out of his sandwich, Lizzie took it. "That's fascinating. I'm gonna go take a nap." Lizzie said, about to leave but as she turned the Croatoan entered the kitchen, stopping Lizzie. "Oh." Was all she said as the Croatoan then grabbed her throat, causing her to scream in distress.

It then started bringing her closer to itself but Landon got a knife and stabbed it through its arm, allowing Lizzie and Landon to run away and back to the library. Landon immediately shut the door instinctively. "I thought the candle was supposed to keep the monsters out." Landon told Lizzie.

Lizzie still being in distress looked Landon between the eyes. "Me, too. It was supposed to keep them from getting to you." Lizzie quickly said.

Landon let out a breathe. "Lizzie, it didn't go after me. It's after you." Landon explained. Lizzie didn't know what to think as she was going to be Croa-toast instead of Landon. Thudding was heard from the Croatoan trying to get into the library.

They quickly reacted, knowing the door wasn't going to stop the Croatoan and Lizzie ran to go find a book to figure out how to stop it.

Lizzie was searching through the book she had while Landon tried holding down the door. "I need help!" Landon exclaimed although Lizzie didn't listen. "Why does everyone assume I have super strength?" Landon questioned while the snarling of the Croatoan was heard.

This time Lizzie was listening and laughed at his comment. "Trust me, no one thinks that." Lizzie responded. Just then a phone started running, Lizzie expected Landon to get it and looked up at him, shutting the book. "Fine, I'll get it." She stated, obviously stressed, earning a scoff from Landon. "Hello?" She questioned as she answered the phone.

"It's me, MG." MG said through the phone. "I got some intel." He stated.

Lizzie had a look of Hope in her eyes. "Talk fast." She ordered MG.

MG knew Lizzie was serious and he started talking. "Apparently, back in the day, this sketchy vamp of the Old World was nibbling on the settlers of Roanoke. There was this witch that he was... courting. She wanted to get to the bottom of who the secret killer was in the village. She said she was gonna manifest this demon creature that could sniff out the killer in their midst. A monster that fed on secrets." MG quickly explained.

Lizzie was turned away from Landon and her face went to one of realization. "Secrets, you say." She dragged out 'say'. She then let out a scared laugh. "Well, that's great, because there's no one keeping any of those around here." Lizzie stated, lying through her teeth but hoped MG and Landon bought it. "How do we kill it." She immediately asked.

MG was a bit quiet for a few seconds. "That's a work in progress." He responded.

Lizzie didn't say anything as the Croatoan had broken through the door a little. "Work faster. The damn thing waltzed through my barrier like it was... immune." Lizzie franticly said, her voice going to one of realization. "Because only the witch who summoned it can destroy it." Lizzie stated.

"That's a problem, 'cause she's been dead for, like, 500 years." MG responded.

Just then the Croatian broke through the door more but where Landon was and punched him in the stomach, causing him to be shoved to the ground. "We're about to die." Lizzie exclaimed, scared. "Figure something out." She stated before smashing the telephone down and hanging the call up.

Lizzie then looked down at Landon and lifted him up, the two started running but the Croatoan kicked down the door, causing the two to cover their heads to nothing happened and so they couldn't get knocked unconscious.

They continued running, Landon grabbing the candle that didn't do anything to protect them but still grabbed it. The Croatoan still following them, snarling and making whistle noises.
