RECAP
"Baby," Her voice hovered just above a whisper. "I can study every sleep spell ever made, but..." She let out a shaky sigh. "I think we both know you aren't waking up because deep down inside..." She looked over at Landons body momentarily. "You know that Landon is dead." She stated, nodding briefly.
"And the fact that you know that if you wake up, you're gonna have to face that grief tells me that you're scared but I'm telling you that you don't have to be because as somebody who has experienced grief more times than I can count, you are allowed to be scared." Hope explained, moving to sit on the bed to be closer to you.
She let out another shaky sigh. "But the truth is, baby... we need you here." Hope looked over at Landon again before back to you. "Landon needs you." Hope exasperated. "I need you." She whispered, planting a soft kiss on your forehead.
ââââ
"Now, then." Lizzie spoke up, the group of supernatural huddled around the sword. "What if one of you just grabs the sword and vamps it away?" Lizzie suggested, looking between Kaleb and MG.
Nimue then spoke after Lizzie. "The Green Knight shall follow his challenger to the ends of the earth, carving a swath of death and destruction in its path." She explained, Jed limping back to the group.
"Yeah, that." Kaleb commented. "So..."
"Okay." Lizzie said.
"...not an option." Kaleb continued.
"I brought the sword here, so I should be the one to face him." Wade stated, just then the monster growled, as well as going slower. "Unless someone has a better idea. Anyone? Someone? Please?" Wade pleaded, obviously not wanting to go face-to-face with this thing.
Lizzie then looked from Wade to Nimue. "You heard the Little Mermaid. Beating this thing isn't about who's at fault, it's about who's worthy." Lizzie stated, reminding them of what Nimue stated earlier.
MG kept his stare on the sword. "You know what? Dr. Saltzman put me in charge, so-" MG started before getting cut off by ALyssa.
"Throwing a field day doesn't make that sweet ass of yours worthy. True worthiness comes from being kindhearted, compassionate, considerate." Alyssa explained, Lizzie crossing her arms as she listened to the witch. "So thank you, Lizzie, for reminding us all that your sister exemplifies those qualities. It should be her who faces an honorable death against Gigantor over there." Alyssa explained, throwing her head back slighting to signal she was talking about the monster.
Lizzie then decided to stand up for her sister. "You know just as much as I do that Josie is the least worthy person here, even if she did do us all a huge favor by getting rid of you. Because, for the record, you're a killer, too. But hey, at least your parents aren't here to see what you've become." Lizzie targeted, not realising how much hurt she just threw at Alyssa.
Alyssa shift ended uncomfortably on each foot, awkwardly looking around the group. "If that's how you really see me, then I guess I don't belong here anymore. So I'm Team Monster now. Good luck beating one without me." Alyssa angrily responded, walking off away from the group to deal with the monster by themselves.
Lizzie then uncrossed her arms, looking over at her sister. "Jo, I'm sorry. It shouldn't have come out that way."
"You were just being honest, so I should be, too." Josie responded, walking closer to her sister. "Alyssa was right. It has to be me."
"Like hell-" Lizzie started.
Josie cut her off, fed up with Lizzie and the way she was acting. "Lizzie, this is exactly what you wanted. It's what you've been trying to make me do all day, a hero move to show everyone how sorry I am and that I belong at the school." Josie explained.
"You don't have any magic." Lizzie reminded, her voice slightly raising. "What good will being back be if you're dead?" Lizzie questioned.
Josie shrugged her shoulders slightly. "It's a risk I'm willing to take. It's the same risk that you, Hope, Kate, everyone made to bring me back from the darkness. So I have to prove that it was worth it." Josie responded, letting out a breathe. "So please, don't try to stop me." Josie stated, ending her rant.
Lizzie stayed quiet, knowing that if she tried to fight her sister on this, nothing would get done. "Fine." She complied. "Have it your way." She stated, Josie then bent down and grabbed the sword handle, but looked up when she saw Lizzie place her hands on the sword as well. "But you're not doing it alone." Lizzie stated.
Josie nodded slightly, the both of them starting to pull out the sword from the rock, but it wasn't budging. "Okay." Lizzie breathed out, fed up with this sword. "Well?" She raised her arms slightly, confused why she couldn't lift the sword.
"Only Excalibur may defeat the Green Knight, and only a worthy champion may wield it." Nimue stated.
Josie crossed her arms while Lizzie let out a sigh. "Son of a bitch."
"Huh?" Kaleb exclaimed.
"Okay. Anything else that you would like to share with the group?" Lizzie inquired, getting tired of Nimue keeping secrets.
ââââ
"You can't do this." Landon scolded his brother.
Rafael turned his body to face Landon. "It's my sacrifice, Lan. It's the same hero move that you were willing to make." Rafael reminded.
Landon shook his head, glancing at the Necromancer. "This is different!" He scolded.
"How?" He breathed out but Landon only stammered, unsure of an answer. "Do it." He turned to the Necromancer.
The Necromancer smiled, placing down his glass of bourbon. "Gladly."
"Don't do it." He walked up to the two.
"You don't get a vote anymore!" The Necromancer yelled.
Landon then turned to Rafael, the Necromancer raising his arms, getting ready to do it. "Raf. Raf." He called.
Just then the doorbell rang, causing them to all stop. "Saved by the actual bell." Landon commented.
Landon and Rafael walked to the door and opened it, revealing Chad. "Hey. Oh, thank God. Landon? I thought you were dead." Chad greeted, looking at Landon confused as he walked through the doors.
Landon glanced at Rafael before back to Chad. "Uh, halfway there." He replied.
"How do you guys come up with these twists? Oh, I love this place." Chad spoke to himself as he admired the school.
The Necromancer then stood behind Chad. "Chad." He exclaimed in a sing-song voice, earning a scream from Chad.
"Hi. Uh, I was, uh, at the crypt, but-but only because I forgot my headphones. I didn't touch any of your stuff or mess with the pit at all." Chad stuttered, confused why the Necromancer was there.
"Yeah, yeah." He stated, wanting him to continue on with whatever he was going to say.
"Well, a-a lady monster came out of it, and she asked for a worthy champion, which means she was looking for Hope." He stated which sounded like a questioned. "Or Kate. Or both." He continued, Rafael and Landon confused how he knew that. "I watch you guys in the basin all the time. Hope and Kate are so smart and pretty and, you know, always saves the day." Chad explained, sounding like a creep.
The Necromancer spoke up. "The Tribrids are unavailable at the moment. What else did she say?" He inquired.
Chads face contorted into a thinking face. "Uh... Uh, she was in search of a sword?" The Necromancer nodded. "She sensed it was in a field?" He questioned, basically asking if it sounded familiar.
Rafael then obviously caught on because he realised something. "The field day." Rafael turned to Landon who also thought the same thing.
Landon turned to the door. "We should go help them." Landon commented.
"I'm not going anywhere until you get back in your body." Rafael negotiated, earning an annoyed stare from Landon.
ââââ
Kaleb grunted as he tried pulling out the sword. "Oh, yeah. It's in there." He stated, looking up.
Lizzie turned around to look at the monster, seeing he was getting closer but moving slower now. "What are we gonna do? We've all tried and we're officially out of time." Josie commented.
Nimue looking around the group. "You led me to believe that you were capable of vanquishing monsters." She stated, recalling their conversations.
"We usually are, but our main champions are a little busy." Josie replied, getting anxious.
"Then there is no hope?" Nimue questioned, not realising she was actually talking about Hope.
Lizzie rolled her eyes. "That's the whole point. We're not worthy. But we all know who is. So where the hell is Hope Mikaelson and Kate Lockwood when you need them?" Lizzie exclaimed.
"She isn't coming." MG blurted out. "I mean, I... I wish I was wrong, but we have to prepare ourselves for that." MG stated, moving to stand besides Lizzie. "To make them proud of us for saving the day just like they always does. And the only way to do that is together. United. So please, just believe in me half as much as I believe in you and we can get through this." MG spoke up, trying to tell the others that they could do this.
Nimue then broke the moment. "I do not believe you will. Not unless the blood of kings runs through your veins." Nimue stated.
"Hold up." Lizzie chuckled, gaining the lady of the lakes attention. "That is what you think being worthy means?" Lizzie questioned, surprised.
"Yes. It is the very definition." Nimue responded in an instant.
Josie rolled her eyes. "Okay, boomer, maybe in your time." Josie scolded.
"And yet again, information that would have been useful before now." Lizzie angrily stated, turning back to look at the monster.
Nimue also watched. "The fact remains, Excalibur was tainted, and now your world will pay the price." Nimue explained, thunder then crashing wildly around them.
Everyone was quiet as they watched until MG spoke up. "Listen, I don't care what some lady, skulking around in ponds, distributing swords, thinks of us." MG stated, earning a hard yet hurtful look from Nimue. "No offense." He stated, looking at her. "We are worthy. We just got to prove it." MG continued.
Nimue stayed quiet. "A rousing sentiment. But I am not the one you must convince." Nimue told MG, walking off a bit away from the group,.
Lizzie watched the monster. "Okay, it's not exactly how I pictured dying, but what the hell?" She then turned to MG. "What's the plan, MG?" She inquired.
Everyone watched him, listening for orders. "Kaleb, Jed, Wade? Grab that rope and see if you can slow him down." The three of them then ran off. "Wonder Twins... protect the sword." MG ordered, earning nods.
Josie then spoke up as he started to leave. "Wait, what are you gonna do?" She questioned, he then turned around. "Something stupid. Got it." Josie said to herself. MG punched the monster but the monster only growled in anger.
ââââ
Rafael led Landon to the room where you laid unconscious and where his dead body was. "I don't care what you show me. I'm not gonna change my..." He trailed off as he saw your body there on the opposite bed, Hope sitting next to it. "...mind." He finished.
Hope got up as she turned around, obvious she was crying. "I'll leave you guys some time with her, I need to held Dr.Saltzman anyway." Hope commented and rushed out of the room.
Both of them nodded their heads, making their way to your body. Landon then walked over to where Hope had been sitting. "Dr.S said she's waiting on you." Rafael commented, following Landon. "If you don't come back, she doesn't come back, Lan." Landon sat down on the bed near your legs.
Landon tried grabbing onto your hand but his hand only fazed through yours. "And you don't want that on your conscience. I know because I can barely live with myself knowing that I'm responsible for you being there." Landon moved his hand away and looked at his body.
He then looked away, letting out a breathe. "Giving your being over to me to make yourself feel less guilty isn't a good enough reason. Not when I have the chance to save everyone else." Landon explained, looking up to meet his brothers eyes.
Rafael let out a small sigh of frustration. "That's not the only reason that I'm doing this. Now we will get Kate back, whether it's you doing it yourself... or you as me." Rafael concluded. Landon looking away from his eyes and back to you. "Who do you think she's gonna want to see when she wakes up?" Rafael questioned.
He stayed quiet for a little bit. "Probably Hope but since she's not waking up because of me, I'm guessing me." He responded, his voice barely above a whisper.
ââââ
Jed, Wade and Kaleb strained as they held the ropes they had put around the monster, trying to stop him from getting to the sword, the monster growling as he dug his feet harder into the ground to continue walking to the sword. "It's not working." Wade strained out.
Jed let out a breathe. "Not with that attitude. Just give it everything you've got. We believe in you, buddy. Right, Kaleb?" Jed asked Kaleb.
"What?" He asked before realising. "Hell yeah. Yeah, yeah, we believe in you, Wade. Just put your back into it, all right? All of us together." Kaleb tried to pep talk Wade. The all grunted as they tried holding the monster back.
"Incendium!" Lizzie chanted, sending a fire ball the monsters way.
Josie then spoke up. "He's immune to fire, so you just pissed him off. Try immobilus." Josie suggested.
Lizzie frantically from Josie to the Monster. "That's what I've been saying all day." Lizzie exclaimed. "Immobilus!" She casted, the monster coming to a halt in an awkward position, the three holding the rope letting out a sigh of relief.
The victory was cut short when the monster began moving again, catching the three off guard. "Hold on!" Kaleb exclaimed.
The monster roared in anger as MG ran forward, jumping on his chest and punching his jaw upwards, afterwards the monster growled as he grabbed MG by the throat, punching him in the stomach which caused him to land near Lizzie and continued walking to the sword.
"Need a hand?" Rafael questioned, grabbing onto the sword as he leaned down, holding out a hand for MG to take.
Josie and Lizzie turned around at the familiar voice. "Need a hundred... but you'll do." MG breathed out, taking his hand.
Rafael grunted as he lifted MG up from the ground, bring the sword with him, which he easily brought out of the rock. The caused Rafael to stumble back as he wasn't expecting that. everyone shocked at the fact he was the royal one. "Your royal highness?" MG questioned.
"The worthy one has arrived." Nimue stated, getting on the floor and bowing her head before the king.
"Raf has the sword!" MG exclaimed "Everyone get out of his way! Hey, come on!" He yelled
Jed, Wade, and Kaleb held the ropes as tight as they could to allow Rafael to kill the monster. Rafael let out a war cry and ran forward with the sword, stabbing it through the monsters stomach, causing it to double over in pain. The monster then fell backwards, dead.
Everyone looked up as the thunder rumbled, the dark red clouds going away and returning to a clear sky. The monster then turned into ash, fading away as if he was never there. Rafael looked around, smiling before his eyes landed on Nimue. "Um... please... get up." He offered her a hand, which she took. "Um... I'm guessing this is yours?" He questioned, holding the sword.
Nimue shook her head. "No, it is rightfully yours, as you are a descendant of Arthur. Do better with it than your ancestors did and I will never need return." Nimue explained, earning a nod from Rafael. Nimue then walked a bit away before turning into water.
"Bye..." Wade said sadly.
"I don't want to say I told you we were worthy, but..." G laughed as he walked ove to Rafael.
Smiles from everyone was sent to Rafael. "Took you long enough." Lizzie commented, smiling. "Where the hell were you?" She questioned, smiling. Rafaels face went from a smile to a small frown.
ââââ
Landon made his way ver to you, sitting on the bed once again. This time when he went to grab your hand, instead of it fazing through, it held onto it, giving it a soft squeeze. Soon after, you woke up, looking into the eyes of your brother. "Landon." You breathed out, a smile crossing both of your faces before you both pulled each other into a hug. "You're here. You're actually here." You continued, letting out a shaky breathe as a few tears welled in your eyes.
"For you... always." Landon countered back. You both then got out of the hug upon hearing footsteps enter. You both looked over at the door and saw Hope enter, letting out a breathe of relief as he looked at you.
Landon smiled at her before giving your hand one last squeeze, giving you two some space. Once he left, you got up, both of you running to each other and engulfing each other in a hug. "Come, let's talk in my room." Hope breathed out, grabbing your hand and leading you there.
Once you both were there, Hope shut the door and the both of you both laid down, Hope on your right and you on her left. "Did it smell like a dead body in there?" You questioned softly.
Hope shook her head. "No. It smelt like Ocean Dusk." She responded before turning back to look at the candle in her room. "In here in smells like Vanilla." She continued, earning a chuckle from you. "I'm really happy you didn't have to see the way you and Landon that way." Hope commented.
You squeezed her hand that was interlaced with hers. "Me, too." You responded.
"How do you think you knew?" Hope questioned.
You shrugged slightly, moving your head slightly to get comfortable. "I guess... I just did." You simply responded, your voice soft. "It definitely made me want to stay asleep forever but deep down inside I knew that I had to come back, I just couldn't find the strength to do it." You explained, you voice changing from a whisper to a soft voice above that.
Hope looked between your eyes, her eyes glancing at your lips and that didn't go unnoticed by you but you didn't say anything. "But my question is what made Landon decide to come back?" She questioned.
A small smile came to your face. "I think he knew I'd kick his ghost ass if he didn't." You responded.
Hope shrugged. "Fair. If you were dead and I was unconscious, I would do the same thing to you." Hope explained, earning a small smile from you.
"Me, Landon and Rafael made a pledge. Me and the both of them, every day, waking up and taking the fight to the bad guys." You explained. "Thought I can't exactly do it everyday." You joked.
"So like a super side-squad." Hope whispered.
Your smile grew. "We were thinking of getting a Bat-Signal so you'll know how to call on us." You continued joking.
Hope then started smiling. "I don't think I'm ever gonna get that far away from you again." Hope stated, now glancing at your lips every now and then.
You then leaned in, kissing her. Your lips moved in sync perfectly, the kiss was passionate and heated at the same time, neither of you taking a breather. Hope then flipped you over so she was on top until you were rudely interrupted by someone entering. "Hey, Kate... oh.... um, I'm so sorry." Rafael apologised, Landon coming in as well. "I was... I'm-a come back." Rafael stated, starting to turn away.
You and Hope looked up at him, Hope climbing off as she started to get off the bed. "It's fine. I was just leaving. I was just leaving." Hope repeated, climbing off of the bed, a small smile on her face to hide her embarrassment.
"You sure?" Rafael stopped and turned around.
"Yeah." Hope replied, walking out of the room.
You bit your bottom lip to hide your embarrassment as well. "Bye, Hope." You stated, Hope just glancing back with a small smile as she left. You then let out a sigh. "This better be good." You commented, climbing off the bed.
Landon nodded in agreement. "Yeah, what do you need us for?" Landon questioned.
"Really, guys?" He then pulled up a sword. "You're supposed to kneel... in the presence of a king." He commented, causing you guys to smile.
