Chapter 54
The Sweetest Trophy Wife by Beanie
Chapter 54 Appointing Someone To a High Position
As Gwyneth spoke, she placed her phone directly in front of Liam, wanting him to look at something in the phone.
Liam picked up the phone and examined the images on the left and right. Although there were no explicit labels, the contrast was evident, something anyone could discern. He asked, âAre all the scars like this?â
Gwyneth replied, âEvery scar may have some variations, but the fundamental elements remain the same.â
Liam had no doubts about Gwynethâs medical expertise. However, the last trace of doubt now fell upon Elizabeth. In fact, from the beginning of the investigation until now, the clues and evidence had gradually become clear.
But deep down, Liam still believed in Elizabeth, after all, they had known each other for so many years. Even though he was well aware of the thoughts Elizabeth had about him, he dismissed it. He believed that Elizabethâs intentions were pure and that she wouldnât deceive
him.
The more Liam delved into his thoughts, the more he became tangled and conflicted. He didnât notice the slight change in Gwynethâs
expression.
At that moment, Gwyneth mumbled something despite having a mouthful of chicken meat, indicating her discontent. âI canât believe this. This guy actually shows concern for Elizabeth. Heâs even examining her scar while eating?â As she pondered over it, an inexplicable feeling
washed over her, causing the flavor of the food in her mouth to vanish abruptly.
Gwyneth inhaled deeply, wiping her fingers once more, her tone taking on a slightly more serious note. âMr. Luther, thereâs no need for you to concern yourself like this. I can put you in touch with a specialized doctor who deals with scar treatments, so you can be at ease.â After finishing her sentence, Gwyneth dabbed her mouth with a napkin and rose from her seat, prepared to leave the table.
However, before she could take a single step, Liam handed the phone back to her and spoke, âThereâs no need for scar removal surgery.â
âHuh?â Gwyneth widened her eyes at his words, feeling as if she had misheard something.
Then, with a gentle grip on her wrist, Liam exerted just enough force to guide her back into the chair. He continued, âYou havenât eaten
much. Have some more.â
Gwyneth watched Liam as he softly coaxed her while serving her food. Her inner thoughts echoed, âHis confusing behavior just never ceases.â She idly picked at the food on her plate, her mind already drifting somewhere else.
The next day, as usual, Liam dropped Gwyneth off at AMC Group.
Once she entered her office, Gwyneth quietly dealt with some urgent documents. Half an hour later, the office door opened with a sound.
Wesley pushed the door open, followed by a handsome middleâaged man. âGwyneth, long time no see.â
Gwyneth had already risen from her seat, wearing a smile on her face. She approached the man and gave him a gentle hug, saying,â Jonathan, itâs been a while. I apologize for calling you back in such a hurry.â
âOh, not at all. Itâs my honor that you thought of me when you had an urgent matter,â Jonathan Haig patted Gwynethâs shoulder lightly and
chuckled.
Gwyneth said, âWesley must have explained the details on the way here. So, what do you think? Can you help?â
Jonathan replied, âI felt a bit uneasy when I found out about your acquisition of Glen Corporation when I was abroad. Now, I can come back and assist you. It couldnât be better.â
Gwyneth glanced at the man before her, her smile deepening.
Without much small talk, Gwyneth directly drove with Jonathan to Glen Corporation.
âMs. Glen, good morning.â
Ever since Gwynethâs appearance at the shareholder meeting, the entire Glen Corporation knew about the new CEO.
The front desk employees dared not show any negligence, showing utmost respects. Gwyneth smiled lightly, nodding in acknowledgment
to the employees who greeted her. She then got on the elevator, taking Jonathan to the HR department.
âMr. Glen, good morning.â
Alan Jardine, the HR manager of Glen Corporation, who was in his fifties, had recently concluded a morning meeting when he noticed Gwyneth standing by the door. Alan was caught off guard, feeling a jolt of surprise that nearly caused him to lose consciousness.
âGood morning, Mr. Jardine,â Gwyneth greeted. âIâve come to seek your assistance in facilitating the onboarding process for this
gentleman.â
Upon hearing her request, Alan let out a sigh of relief. It was customary for senior management to make recommendations for new hires.
âMs. Glen, for such a minor issue, you need not have gone through the trouble of coming here in person. A simple phone call would have sufficed,â Alan flattered, and Gwyneth didnât mind. She understood that it was a customary part of corporate culture, even though she didnât particularly enjoy it.
âIf youâre available at the moment, you can directly handle his onboarding. He is Jonathan Haig, and heâll be joining as the marketing
director,â Gwyneth informed.
âWhat? The marketing director?â Alan reluctantly nodded, but his eyes widened upon hearing the position. In the trade and finance conglomerate, the marketing department held a significant share of the companyâs resources. While there had been cases of individuals securing highâlevel positions through recommendations from senior management, a job title as prominent as this was unprecedented for him.
âIs there a problem?â Gwynethâs tone softened, a smile still lingering on her lips, but her gaze turned piercing.
Her demeanor clearly conveyed that refusal was not an option.
