Celebration
Blood of the Dragon[on Hold]
Kingswood
"Father, it's been a while." Rhaegon said.
"My son...you're...you're here." Viserys was shocked. A few hours ago, he was told that his son was dead, and here Rhaegon stands before him.
"Where else would I be?" Rhaegon asked. "After all, it's my brothers second nameday. He looked at a heavily pregnant Alicent." Your grace. Rhaegon greeted, and Alicent blushed. He then looked at Rhaenyra. "Sister.: He greeted, and Rhaenyra fought every urge to kiss him right in front of everyone.
"You wear a crown." Viserys looked at his driftwood crown. "Do you also call yourself king?"
Rhaegon smirked. "After we smashed the Triarchy, they named me King of the Narrow Sea... but I know that there's one true king, your grace." Rhaegon got down one knee and removed his crown. "My crown, the Stepstones and Blackfyre are yours, your grace." The crown prince presented his crown and Blackfyre to the king. Viserys walked to his son and took the crown. He then gave it to Lord commander Harrold. Rhaegon looked at Otto and then looked at his father.
"Rise, my son." Viserys said, and Rhaegon did what he was told. Viserys then looked at his son and smiled. The king then hugged the crown prince. All in attendance applauded, and Otto was seething. All the attention was taken away from Aegon. "The realm owes you a great, my son." The king then looked at the crowd. "This calls for more celebration! My son, your future king has returned!" The crowd applauded, and Otto didn't look happy at all.
"What of Blackfyre, father?" Rhaegon asked.
"It should be wielded by a warrior. It's yours, my son." Viserys said with pride, and Rhaegon sheathed the sword.
Viserys was talking to his brother and son while Rhaenyra and Alicent were being questioned by noble ladies.
"Are you alright, father?" Rhaegon asked after seeing his father cough.
"I'm fine." Viserys said. "I was thinking of the time Slyrak grew to a flying size. You flew all the way to Dragonstone and back. The king laughed. I remember how your mother scolded you, and I warned you how easily tired Slyrak could get."
Rhaegon laughed. "Yes, I remember, but it wasn't my fault. I was always fascinated by dragons."
"Indeed." Daemon spoke up. "Although nothing made me happier when you finally got your own dragon." The rogue prince laughed. "Speaking of where is the Crimson beast?"
"I think he went back to the Dragonpit." Rhaegon said. "I think he missed Syrax."
"Ah. Of course." Viserys said, and he noticed how Cerelle Lannister, the daughter of Jason Lannister, was looking at his son. Viserys knew that now was the best time for Rhaegon to wed.
Rhaegon saw Daemon go into the woods to see Caraxes. "My prince." He heard an unfamiliar voice.
"Lady Cerelle?" Rhaegon inquired, not knowing if he was right.
"Yes, my prince. I was at your sisters 13th nameday celebration." Cerelle said.
"Ah, yes, I remember." Rhaegon said. "If I recall, you and my sister were born on the same day?"
"Yes, my prince." Cerelle said. "I remember how you won your first joust that day."
Rhaegon chuckled. "Yes, my mother was not happy." He said. "Are you looking for your father?" The crown prince asked.
"No. I was looking for you, my prince." Cerelle said.
"Oh?" Rhaegon inquired.
"I wanted to congratulate you on your victory. I heard how you defeated the Crabfeeder and saved the realm from invasion." Cerelle said.
"Yes, well, it was an effort that took a mighty force." Rhaegon said.
"I don't think anyone could stand against you, my prince." Cerelle touched Rhaegons arm and felt his bicep. "So strong. I suppose you would make many children with the right wife, of course." Cerelle smirked, and Rhaegon raised his eyebrow.
"Yes, but only when I'm ready to marry." Rhaegon said.
"I'll wait for that day, my prince." Cerelle bit her lip.
Rhaegon noticed Rhaenyra looking at them. "Excuse me, I have to talk to my father." Rhaegon walked into the tent and found his father. "So that's what I am now, a prize for noble ladies?" He asked.
Viserys sighed. "You're of age, my son, and Cerelle Lannister is an excellent match."
"You're either an idiot or drunk for suggesting that, father." Rhaegon spat. "I should've known you'd try this."
"Since you went to war, I've been drowning in a lake of parchment of proposals for you. I knew that you would come back, so when you did, you would finally fulfill your duties as heir." Viserys argued, and the people started looking at the king and the crown prince.
"I've already told you that I'll marry on my own terms!" Rhaegon yelled.
"EVEN I DO NOT EXIST ABOVE TRADITION AND DUTY, RHAEGON!!!" Viserys yelled louder.
"Excuse me, your grace." Otto spoke up.
Viserys saw his wife look at them as well as his daughter, along with everyone inside the tent. He then looked at Rhaegon. "You must marry." He sternly said. The king looked at Otto. "Yes?"
"The royal huntsman have sent a report, your grace, there's been a sighting of a White Hart." Otto told the King. "The stag is the King of the Kingswood, your grace, a regal portent for Prince Aegons name day."
Viserys looked at everyone and smiled as if nothing was wrong, and when he looked at his son, who stared at him with disappointment.
"This is your second son's nameday celebration. Focus on that." Rhaegon said and walked away.
"Rhaegon! Rhaegon!" The king called out, but Rhaegon kept walking. He walked out of the tent and climbed on a horse. Rhaegon immediately took off, and Rhaenyra followed him shortly after on her horse.
After Rhaenyra caught up with Rhaegon, they stopped at a lake. "What happened with you and Father?" Rhaenyra asked.
"I thought he'd somehow change, but I was wrong." Rhaegon said. "He wanted me to marry Cerelle Lannister."
"Do you want me to kill her?" Rhaenyra asked. Rhaegon and Rhaenyra shared a look and laughed.
"My prince, princess. Are you both alright?" Ser Criston asked as he caught up with them.
"We're fine, Criston." Rhaegon said.
"Perhaps we should head back." Ser Criston suggested.
"And let this beautiful day go to waste?" Rhaegon asked. "We should take it in the Kingswood, but if you want to go back, don't let me stop you."
"My prince, I am bound by oath not to leave the princess side." Ser Criston said.
"Well, I'm not going back until Rhaegon goes back." Rhaenyra said, and Rhaegon smirked. Later, the trio were walking in the Kingswood.
"Were you ever betrothed, Ser Criston?" Rhaenyra asked.
Ser Criston chuckled. "I had an adventurous youth when my father served at Blackhaven, to be sure before I spoke my vows as a knight of the Kingsguard."
"How lucky you are to at least have a say in your own life." Rhaenyra said.
"Many in the realm would gladly trade positions with the royal family, princess." He said.
"Only because none of them have held our position." Rhaegon argued.
"I may be the daughter of the dragon, but I am toothless." She said.
"One day, not so long ago, you held enough power to write my name into the White Book, and when your father named me to his knight of the Kingsguard, it was the highest honor any Cole have known, all that I have I owe to you." Ser Criston said.
"And that's not toothless, sister." Rhaegon said. Night had fallen in the Kingswood, and as they walked closer, they saw a light in the bushes. They kept walking, and the light shined brighter. Ser Criston was about to unsheathe his sword, but Rhaegon stopped him. "We're not in danger, Ser." The crown prince said. They finally arrived and saw Daemon, who was sitting and enjoying the flames. "Where's Caraxes?" Rhaegon asked his uncle.
"He's hunting. Come, join me." Daemon invited the trio.
"Of course." Rhaegon took Rhaenyras' hand and helped her to sit down. He then sat next to his sister. "Can I ask you all something?" Rhaegon asked.
"Yes, of course." Rhaenyra was the first one to answer. Daemon and Ser Criston nodded.
"Do you think the realm will ever accept me as their king?" Rhaegon asked.
"They'll have no choice but to, my prince." Ser Criston said.
Rhaegon nodded. "The night after my grandsires funeral, I went to King Jaehaerys' chambers to see if he was alright. He begged me not to make the same mistakes that he made."
"What mistake was that?" Daemon asked.
"Putting his family second." Rhaegon answered. He then looked at his uncle and sisters sworn protector and looked at Rhaenyra.
"Well, taking a blade to your heart would make you a good king. You fight for everyone, especially family." Daemon pointed out.
"Blade to the heart?" Rhaenyra inquired, and Ser Criston was also curious.
"Daemon must be drunk or delusional." Rhaegon waved it off. He didn't like lying to Rhaenyra, but he also didn't know how to explain that he died. "Excuse me." Rhaegon stood up and went for a walk.
"Rhaegon?" Rhaenyra called out to her brother, but he kept walking. "Stay here, Ser Criston." Rhaenyra stood up and followed Rhaegon. In the woods, Rhaenyra caught up to Rhaegon. They walked together, and Rhaenyra could tell that something was bothering him. "What's wrong, Rhaegon?"
"Oh...it's just..." Suddenly, Rhaegon picked Rhaenyra up bridal style. "I can't believe I'm here! I'm home!" He yelled, and Rhaenyra giggled. Rhaegon was still carrying her. Rhaegon then spun her around, and she laughed. "I never thought I would be so lucky because I'll be honest, Rhae, there were times when I thought that I'd never see you again."
"Look at me, Rhaegon." Rhaenyra said, and Rhaegon looked at her. "You came back to me. That's all that matters. You came back." Rhaegon then leaned down and kissed Rhaenyra.
"I love you." He said after breaking the kiss.
"I love you." Rhaenyra said.
"Ahem!" Daemon cleared his throat. "I'm not interrupting, am I?" He asked.
Rhaegon chuckled. "You were."
"It's not what it looks like, uncle." Rhaenyra tried to explain.
"It's alright, Rhae. He already knows about us." Rhaegon said.
"Yes, well, you're both bad at hiding it." Daemon smirked.
Rhaegon put Rhaenyra down, and before her could say anything, he heard something in the bushes. "Did you hear that?" He asked his uncle.
"Unfortunately, I did." Daemon immediately unsheathed Dark Sister and stepped forward. Rhaegon unsheathed Blackfyre and had Rhaenyra stand behind him.
Just then, a boar came out of the bushes and tackled Daemon. It then charged at Rhaegon and Rhaenyra. Rhaegon pushed Rhaenyra aside, and the boar tackled Rhaegon. It then got on top of Rhaegon, and as Rhaegon helped its tusks, he reached for his dagger and stabbed it repeatedly. He then finally stabbed it in its head, and the boar was finally dead.
"Rhaegon?" Rhaenyra called out in concern.
"I'm alright." Rhaegon said, and with the help of Daemon, he pushed the boar off. Rhaenyra immediately hugged Rhaegon, not caring that he was covered in blood. "I'm fine, sister. I'm fine and I'm not going anywhere."
A few hours later, they returned to the camp and took their belongings. Ser Criston was ridiculed by Daemon for not protecting the prince and princess, but Rhaegon told Daemon to calm down and that it wasn't Ser Cristons fault.
King Viserys was standing in front of the bonfire. He was very drunk. I'm so drunk that he didn't even hear his wife approach.
"Is everything alright, your grace?" Alicent asked.
"Rhaegon...my first born. His mother named him out of love. He was her everything." Viserys slurred. "When Rhaegon was a child, I saw it in a dream. A male babe was born to me, wearing the conquerers crown and wielding his sword. I didn't want that for Rhaegon. I wanted him to forge his own path. He was...is my favorite of all my children. It's a terrible thing to admit, but it's true."
"The hour is too late, husband." Alicent tried to protest.
"Do you know what they call him?" Viserys asked. 'They call him 'the Black Dragon.' The man who saved Westeros from the Triarchy."
"Viserys." Alicent tried again.
"I wanted him to live before I named him my heir. To be a child first. I never wanted the realm to have him!" Viserys yelled. "He grew stronger than Aemma and I could ever dream of, and when he was strong enough, I wanted to place the crown on his head myself. I never wanted to remarry. To look upon someone who isn't Aemma." Viserys started weeping. Alicent hurt as she took the kings hand and put it on her swollen belly. It seemed to calm him down, but then Viserys heard horns blaring and snapped out of it. He then threw his wine in the fire and went to sleep in his tent.
The next morning, Rhaegon, Rhaenyra, Daemon, and Ser Criston were on top of a hill. They could see the camp from that distance. Suddenly, Rhaegon climbed off his horse and walked to the bushes. He then saw something come to him. It was the White Hart, and it charged at a tremendous speed. Rhaegon unsheathed Blackfyre and ran to meet him. He then jumped up and drove his sword deep into the stags skull, killing it.
"Fuck!" Daemon was surprised. "If that's not enough reason to believe that you will be a good king, I don't know what is." Rhaegon smirked and winked at Rhaenyra.
While the king, the queen and the rest of the attendees were celebrating young Aegons nameday, they saw four people come from the bushes. Their horses were carting animal corpses.
Otto was stunned. The crown prince had his horse carting the White Hart while mere hours ago the king killed an ordinary brown stag.
Alicent smiled as the crown prince climbed off his horse and walked to them. Her feelings for him still haven't gone away.
Rhaegon walked straight to his father while covered in dries blood. "I am your heir." He said.
Viserys smiled with pride. "You are my heir."
Rhaegon then walked away and his friend Ser Harwin Strong walked to him. "Do me a favor and take me with you next time."
"Don't worry. I have some ale with your name on it to celebrate. I just have to get out of this bloodied clothes." Rhaegon said and Ser Harwin chuckled.
"I told that he was worth it." Daemon told his brother.
"Yes. Yes you did." Viserys said. All doubts and fears faded from his mind. To Viserys, Rhaegon was the one. Rhaegon is the prince that was promised.
Hours later a feast was held to honor Rhaegons victory over the Triarchy and killing the White Hart.
Rhaegon sat with his friend, Harwin and the duo were drinking barrels of ale. Harwin noticed Cerelle Lannister looking at Rhaegon with lust.
"I fucking hate you." Harwin said.
"What did I do now?" Rhaegon asked.
"Nothing, and that's the problem." Harwin said. "All you do is breathe and women line up to you."
Rhaegon chuckled and noticed Cerelle looking at him. "You can have her. I'm not interested." He looked at Rhaenyra who was talking to their father. Cerelle noticed this and once the king left Rhaenyra she walked to the princess.
"He's a handsome one, isn't he?" Cerelle asked.
"Who?" Rhaenyra inquired.
"Your brother. It's one thing to be handsome and tall, but to be strong as well. Its as if he was conjured up in a dream." Cerelle said. "So how long have you been in love with him?" She asked.
"What are you talking about?" Rhaenyra asked.
"Oh, princess. I can tell when someone is smitten." Cerelle smirked. "Has he fucked you yet?"
"That's not your concern." Rhaenyra said. She was tired of this woman's arrogance.
"So no? Too bad for you. Once I'm his wife I'll fuck him every night and when you finally have him..." Cerelle smirked. "He'll only think of me." That was the last straw. Rhaenyra threw her wine on Cerelle and punched her in the face. Once Cerelle was down, Rhaenyra got on top of her and repeatedly beat her.
Rhaegon and Ser Harwin immediately separated the girls. "What is the meaning of this?!" The king yelled.
"She started it!" Rhaenyra yelled.
"You broke my nose." Cerelle said as she held her bloody nose.
"From where I'm standing, it's an improvement." Rhaenyra spat. She then forcibly removed herself from Rhaegons grip and punched Cerelle again.
"Enough." Rhaegon said and carried Rhaenyra over his shoulder and walked away. When they finally got away from the fight, Rhaegon put Rhaenyra down. "What was that?" Rhaegon asked.
"She wanted you, and she's not yours!" Rhaenyra spat and tears formed in her eyes. "You're mine, Rhaegon. You're mine."
"I'm yours and you are mine. Rhaegon assured her. "Let me see your hand." Rhaegon saw the bruises on Rhaenyras tiny knuckles. "Does it hurt."
"No." Rhaegon said.
"Tell me the truth." Rhaegon demanded.
Rhaenyra sighed. "Only a little." Rhaegon ripped a piece of his clothing and wrapped Rhaenyras hand. "Are you angry with me?"
"Rhaegon chuckled. Why I be? You fought for me. For us. That is all I ever wanted." He wanted to kiss her, but unfortunately they were still in public. "We should go back."
"Yes. Yes we should." Rhaenyra agreed. "I love you, Rhaegon."
"And I love you, Rhaenyra." Rhaegon planted a kiss on Rhaenyras forehead and queen Alicent saw it and heard everything they had said to each other.
