King's Landing
Aegon and Viserys' chambers
Rhaenyra was dressed in a white nightgown and smiled as she watched her youngest sons Aegon and Viserys were sleeping. She and Rhaegon had been living in King's Landing with their children. To say that the realms delight was happy would be an understatement. She had everything the ever wanted and she would be damned if anyone took it away from her. She smiled when she felt a pair of hands touching her waist. Rhaegon stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Hmm. How was your meeting?" Rhaenyra asked.
"Long." Rhaegon chuckled. "Those imbeciles still believe they have any power over me. I should ask father to dismiss the entire council, but it's fun messing with them from time to time."
"I wish I could've seen it. Aegon took Viserys' toy and flung it across the room." Rhaenyra said. "I had to discipline him."
"What precisely did you do?" Rhaegon asked.
"I had him stand in that corner to think of all his bad decisions." Rhaenyra pointed at the corner.
Rhaegon laughed. "He's 3 years old."
"And Viserys is 2. Aegon should be the example." Rhaenyra argued.
"You know..." Rhaegon kissed Rhaenyras neck. "I've been thinking..." He kissed her neck more. "We should have more children."
Rhaenyra softly moaned. "I'm not opposed to that, my love, but mayhaps we should go to our chambers and not do this where in our sons rooms."
"Well, the longer you stay here in their rooms, the more difficult it will be for us to leave." Rhaegon continued kissing her neck.
"Come." Rhaenyra grabbed Rhaegons wrist and the hurried to their rooms
Rhaegon and Rhaenyras chambers
A few hours later
Rhaenyra moaned in pleasure as he felt her husband's seed enter her womb for the fourth time. Rhaegon pulled his cock out and laid next to her. He then pulled Rhaenyra closer and she laid her head on his chest.
"I love you." Rhaegon said.
"I can tell." Rhaenyra chuckled and traced circles on her husband's chest. "I know it's only been three years since Laena... are you still planning on avenging her?"
"You've been a good mother to Baela, Rhaena and Corwyn, Rhae, but Laena will never see her children grow up. She'll never see them marry and be happy. I owe this to her and to her children."Â Rhaegon said.
"I will help you. I respected Laena and she didn't deserve to die." Rhaenyra said.
"Thank you, Rhae." Rhaegon movee down to kiss her and within second he was on top of his wife.
"Haven't you had enough of me yet?" Rhaenyra asked.
:I could never get enough of you." Rhaegon said. The married couple passionately kissed and had sex throughout the evening.
Royal gardens
The next day
"You understand that you're to marry her?" Luke asked Jace.
"Well, father wants us all to marry to strengthen our family." Jace said. "Heleana is a good woman and she deserves happiness."
"I wonder who Aegon will marry now. I heard the hand, Ser Otto wanted him to marry Heleana, but father refused." Corwyn said.
"Where's Aelena?" Jace asked.
"She's spending some time with Heleana, Visenya and Rhaena." Corwyn replied.
"D... do you like her?" Luke asked.
"She's two years older than me, but I like her company. She can also fight." Corwyn chuckled. "I plan to tour the realm with her when I'm six and ten."
"Ha! Well father will be happy to hear that." Jace said.
"My prince." The royal steward approach the boys and handed a letter to Corwyn. "A letter from Driftmark. It's from princess Baela."
Corwyn smiled. A year ago after Viserys II was born, Rhaenys asked to ward Baela on Driftmark and Rhaegon happily accepted. She would write almost everyday to Rhaena, and Corwyn.
"It seems our sister is happier in Driftmark than here." Corwyn chuckled.
Dragonstone
Daemon and Cerelles chambers
"You can't make me!" Joanna yelled at her parents.
"We can!" Daemon yelled louder. "We are your parents and you will do as we command!"
Joanna was seething. "Just because mother likes to visit the Rock and see her stupid family, that doesn't mean I like it. Ever since Daeron was sent to King's Landing, you've been trying to get rid of me. Just say you hate me and we can move on with our lives, father."
"Enough!" Daemon slammed his hand on the table. "I'm not asking anymore. You will go to Casterly Rock with your mother and that's final!" The rogue prince left his room.
"Why didn't you defend me, Mother?" Joanna asked.
"Because I didn't see the need to, my darling. I only wish to understand why you hate my side of the family so much?" Cerelle asked her daughter.
"I hear what they whisper about you. They call you names. They hate you for marrying father. I was born a dragon and dragons eat lions." Joanna said.
Cerelle chuckled. "Now I know that you're more like your father."
"Are you angry about that?" Joanna asked.
"Never." Cerelle said. "You're becoming a woman now, sometimes we have to do things that we don't want to. Besides, I don't think I could survive my family without you."
Joanna smiled at her mother. "I'll come with you, but I promise I won't hold back if they insult you."
Cerelle hugged her daughter. "I wouldn't have it ant other way, and don't mind your father. He's trying his best."
King's Landing
Small council chambers
Rhaegon entered the small council chambers and sat on his father's chair. "Apologies for my lateness. I was with the King." Rhaegon handed a letter to Otto.
Ottos face paled when he read it. "It's from his grace, the king." He told the council. "Prince Rhaegon is herein named regent until king Viserys recovers."
"Now that all this power grabbing is out of the way, allow me to make myself clear. If I smell treachery, you'll be beheaded at a traitor by mine own sword." Rhaegon said. He then looked at Aemond. "Write a letter. The realm will know of my regency, but don't mention father's illness. The last thing we need is to incite panic or a rebellion."
"Yes, brother... I mean, my prince." Aemond said.
"Where is Aegon?" Rhaegon asked. "He's supposed to be a cupbearer today."
"I don't know, my prince. I could send for him if you wish?" Aemond suggested.
"No. I'll give him 10 more minutes." Rhaegon looked at Otto. "Lord Hand. I still need you to sit the throne as the kings representative."
This surprised Otto. For past 3 years Rhaegon had not made a move against his son, and this made him feel at ease.
"Yes, my prince." Otto said.
"Any other news?" Rhaegon asked. The council was silent. "None of you are aware of the Blackwoods and the Brakens'... ridiculous infighting?"
"We haven't heard a response from lord Tully, my prince." Grandmaester Orwyle said.
"Mm. Perhaps I should fly to the Riverlands myself, and stop this foolish rivalry." Rhaegon said.
"Forgive me my prince, but you cannot put yourself at risk." Tyland said. It was clear that Tyland Lannister was officially on Rhaegons side when it came to the safety of his children since his niece married Daemon.
"What would you have me do?" Rhaegon asked. "If I'm to rule the realm, I have to show that I actually care about avoiding wars."
"I agree, my prince, but Ser Tyland is right." Otto spoke up. "The crown prince cannot be at risk." He needed to pretend that he supports Rhaegon until there was an opening to remove Rhaegon completely.
Rhaegon looked at Aemond. "Write to Lord Tully again. Tell him if he doesn't control his lands, the crown will do it for him."
"Yes, my prince." Aemond said. "I... I could fly myself, if you wish."
"No. I cannot risk the safety of anyone in my family." Rhaegon said. Alicent had a small smile on her face. He looked at the council. "Anything else?"
"No, my prince." Otto said.
"My prince, you'll be pleased to know that the coin has been supplied to restructure the fortifications in the Stepstones." Lord Beesbury said.
"Good. The sooner we rid ourselves of this Triarchy scourge, the better." Rhaegon said. "Council dismissed." The council rose from their seats and bowed their heads at Rhaegon and left. Aemond stayed behind and showed Rhaegon his notes. "You're getting better."
"Thank you, my prince." Aemond said.
Rhaegon rose from his seat and poured himself and Aemond some wine. "You don't have to call me by my title when we're alone, Aemond." He said.
"It's not so bad. You're to be king one day and I will serve you as best I can." Aemond said.
"I'm glad to hear that." Rhaegon said. "Have you ever thought of marriage?"
"Uh... no I haven't." Aemond said. "I'm only 13."
Rhaegon chuckled. "Of course. I heard Aegon took you to the street of silk a few weeks ago on your nameday."
"Y... yes he said it was his duty as my brother to ensure that I was as experienced as he was." Aemond said.
"Mm. Well Aegon isn't the best role model." Rhaegon said.
I'm sorry." Aemond apologized.
"
"For what?" Rhaegon inquired. "You're a man now, Aemond, and we have urges. All I ask is that you learn to control them."
"I will, I promise." Aemond vowed. Just then Larys entered the small council chambers.
"My prince." Larys bowed his head.
"Lord Loris." Rhaegon greeted, and Aemond chuckled.
"It's Larys, my prince." Larys corrected.
"Of course it is. What do you want?" Rhaegon asked.
"A word. Alone, if I may?" Larys asked.
Rhaegon looked at Aemond. "Find Aegon and tell him to meet me in my chambers."
"Yes, brother." Aemond left the small council chambers.
"My prince, I've come to congratulate you on your title as regent." Larys said. "I've always seen you as a powerful leader."
"So you're saying my father is powerless?" Rhaegon asked.
"M-my prince I only meant-" Rhaegon interrupted the clubfoot.
"My father is still protector of the realm, and all his commands will be obeyed." Rhaegon said. "I am merely his voice." Rhaegon didn't ask how Larys knew about his regency since it was just announced. "Tell me, my lord. How was the funeral of your father and brother?"
"I wouldn't know. I didn't attend it." Larys said. "Her grace the queen needed me here."
"I'm surprised. I've known Alicent since she was a girl, and she's many things, but unsympathetic isn't one of them." Rhaegon said.
"The realm must come first." Larys said.
"Or the ambitions of those plotting to destruction of the realm." Rhaegon snapped back. "What is it you truly want?"
"Only to serve someone deserving of the Iron Throne, my prince." Larys said.
"Mm." Rhaegon smirked. "Then you shall have it." The crown prince looked at Larys' cane and he saw the same firefly token that he found on the assassin who tried to kill him in Harrenhall 3 years ago. "You shall have that and more, Larys clubfoot."
Larys swallowed thickly and dismissed himself. "My prince." He left the small council chambers.
Dragonstone
Harbor
"Is she still angry?" Daemon asked his wife.
"She'll be alright." Cerelle assured her husband.
Daemon cleared his throat. "Be safe... and look after yourselves." He looked at his daughter mounting her dragon Grey Ghost.
"We will." Cerelle smiled. She then passionately kissed Daemon which the rogue prince returned. He looked at his daughter who did nothing, but turn her dragon around and she commanded the wild dragon to fly. Daemon Targaryen watched his wife board the ship and sail away. Daemon couldn't understand why he felt this way. He felt a hole in his life for many years, then came Cerelle, Joanna and Daeron, and his heart was filled.
Daemon went to the dragonmont. He needed to talk to someone who could help him understand why he was feeling this way.
"Let us go to King's Landing." Daemon told Caraxes.
King's Landing
Rhaegon and Rhaenyras chambers
"It's not that I'm not happy to see you, uncle, but why are you here?" Rhaegon asked.
Daemon watched as his 11 year old son, Daeron drink a cup of ale in one go.
"I feel funny." Daeron said.
"Perhaps you should go sleep." Daemon said.
"Ser Erryk, please escort prince Daeron to his chambers." Rhaegon said.
"Yes my prince. Come, young prince." Ser Erryk helped a drunk Daeron leave the room, but noy before Daemon touched his sons head. Rhaegon could see the affection that Daemon had been showing.
"Ah, I see now. You're seeking council." Rhaegon said once they were alone.
"I've never felt this way before." Daemon said. "I... care about them. Cerelle included."
"That's what happens when you're happy. Trust me, I myself felt strange at first." Rhaegon said.
"How? My daughter hates me, and my son... I barely know him." Daemon said.
"Stay here longer. I'm sure father would want to see you, and you can see Daerons progress." Rhaegon suggested.
"What of Dragonstone?" Daemon asked.
"I'll have a raven sent to Lord Celtigar to oversee the island." Rhaegon said. "Uncle, you're a Targaryen prince, yes, but you're also a husband and father. Allow me to give you some advice. Cherish these small moments while they exist. You never know when it all might vanish forever."
"Thank you, Rhaegon." Daemon said.
"I'm always here, uncle." Rhaegon smiled. "I wish to speak to you about something."
"What is it?" Daemon asked.
"Larys Strong played a role in Laenas death." Rhaegon said.
"What? How do you know?" Daemon inquired.
"The firefly badge. I saw the same one on his cane." Rhaegon stated.
"Mm. What do you plan to do about it?" Daemon asked knowing how unstable his nephew was when it came to Laena.
"Nothing for now. I have no proof other than a token." Rhaegon said. "We wait for now."
"You mind telling me why you're cautious?" Daemon asked.
"Because the last time I acted on my impulses, I almost killed you." Rhaegon said. "There's a reason I wanted to speak to you."
"And what reason is that?" Daemon asked.
Rhaegon poured himself and Daemon some more wine. "If it's not obvious yet, I have no intention of keeping Otto as Hand when I ascend the throne. He's proven that he's only capable of plotting behind the kings back. I'll need someone I can trust. That someone is you, uncle."
"You want me to be Hand?" Daemon was surprised by this. He remembered questioning his brother many years ago about naming him hand to be at his side, and now his nephew plans to give him what he wants.
"Rhaenyra will always be my second voice, but I also need you." Rhaegon said.
"I don't know what to say." Daemon was still in shock by this.
"Say yes, and we can get as drunk as we want tonight." Rhaegon chuckled.
3 years later
Royal gardens
A 15 year old Visenya Visenya was humming as she planted a seed in the ground and closed it with sand. She smiled.
"There. You're going to grow bigger than all the trees in this garden." Visenya smiled.
"She's right there." A 16 year old Jacaerys said. "All you have to do is talk to her."
"I can't. I... get scared when I talk to her." Daeron said.
"The three of us killed a boar together, and you're afraid of a girl you've known your whole life?" A 14 year old Corwyn asked.
"Boars don't speak." Daeron said and the boys chuckled.
"Visenya?!" Jace called out. Visenya turned and smiled when she faced her brother. "Daeron would like to speak to you about the seed you planted in the ground."
"Really?" Visenya asked.
"Yes he's very fascinated by... flowers." Corwyn said and when Jace looked at him, Corwyn only shrugged his shoulders. The future heir to the throne looked at Daeron. "Have fun." The two brothers then left Daeron.
"Uh... I... Visenya." Daeron stammered.
"Is everything alright, Daeron?" Visenya asked.
"I... I don't know anything about flowers. I just wanted to speak to you, but I am fascinated by them." Daeron said.
Visenya smiled. "What fascinates you about flowers?"
"People underestimate them. They see a small seed, but it could grow into the most powerful weapon or remedy." Daeron smiled at Visenya.
Visenya blushed. "Well, it's safe to say that we shouldn't bother this seed then." Visenya took Daeron by his hand.
"Where are we going?" Daeron asked.
"I wish to find out if Tessarion is faster than Silverwing." Visenya said.
"You're on!" They went to the dragonpit and readied their dragons for a flight. Unbeknownst to anyone, while Visenya was alone, Aegon watched Visenya with lust filled eyes.
Red Keep
"Have you ever toured the realm, Princess?" Corwyn asked Aelena Martell.
Aelena chuckled. "My father didn't want me to leave Sunspear after my mother died, but your father managed to convince him."
"Yes well, father's always had a way to persuade people." Corwyn chuckled. "I hope I'm not too forward, princess, but I'd like to tour the realm with you after we marry." Aelena smiled at her betrothed.
"My prince." The royal steward approached Corwyn. "A letter from Dragonstone."
Corwyn read the letter and his face paled. "No..."
"What is it?" Aelena asked.
"Send word to Driftmark. Baela must know." Corwyn said. "Find my sister and cousins. Find my uncles and aunt as well. He then looked at Aelena. I'm sorry, princess. My father is in danger. I have to go."
"Of course." Aelena nodded.
Training yard
Corwyn met with Jace, Visenya, Luke, Daeron, Rhaena and Heleana.
"Where's Aegon?" Corwyn asked.
"I don't know. I tried to look for him, but I couldn't find him anywhere." Jace said.
"What's wrong?" Visenya asked.
The crown prince is in danger. He needs us. Corwyn said.
"I'll look for Aemond. Jace. You and Luke find Aegon." Corwyn looked at his aunt and half sister. Heleana. "You, Daeron and Visenya stay here."
"Alright." Everyone was impressed by Corwyn taking charge like this.
Dragonstone
A few hours earlier
Joanna's chambers
"Fuck!" A 16 year old Joanna moaned in pleasure and gripped her bed sheets. She then lifted her sheet and smiled when she saw Aemond between her legs. "You're getting better at that."
"I hate that I had to sail by boat." Aemond said as he climbed on top of her.
"It was the only way to not raise suspicion." Joanna said. "Are you ready to take my maidenhood?"
"I am." Aemond smirked. A year ago Aemond visited Dragonstone with Rhaegon and he spent months talking to Joanna. He enjoyed it so much that he developed feelings for her. When they finally kissed Joanna made him promise to keep this a secret.
Just then her door opened and Cerelle Lannister walked in her daughters room.
"Joanna, your father is-" Cerelles eyes widened. "What in the Seven Hells is going on here?!"
"I'm... becoming a woman." Joanna said with a smile on her face.
Cerelle was seething. She then looked at Aemond. "Get out of here now!"
"Yes, my lady." Aemond wasn't given a chance to get dressed, and ran out of Joanna's room naked with his clothes bundled up in his arms.
Cerelle looked at her daughter. "Get dressed and come with me."
Chamber of the painted table
"What were you thinking Aemond?" Rhaegon asked. He had caught Aemond in the halls trying to get dressed, and when he asked him what had happened, Rhaegon was shocked.
"I... I like her." Aemond said.
"I'm going to fucking kill you!" Daemon tried to charge at Aemond.
"Father stop!" Joanna yelled.
"What do you have there say for yourself?" Daemon asked.
"I told you I didn't want to marry and you tried to force me." Joanna said.
"So you'd rather style yourself a whore?" Daemon asked.
"Says the whore." Joanna snapped back. Daemon raised hand to smack his daughter.
"Daemon stop!" Cerelle yelled.
Daemon breathed heavily as he looked at his daughter. "Get out of my sight."
"I fucking hate you." Joanna stormed off.
Rhaegon looked at Aemond. "You as well. Go to harbor. We'll meet you there." Aemond walked off. The crown prince looked at his wife. "I'll ready father for our departure."
Rhaenyra sadly nodded. She and Rhaegon brought their father to Dragonstone to relive some old memories and spend some time together, but now it was all ruined.
"If you don't tell Rhaegon to control his son, I'll make him." Daemon spat and Rhaenyras eyes widened. "Yes I know Aemond is Rhaegons son." Daemon then walked away.
Harbor
Aemond waited for Rhaegon. He didn't know how to prepare for what Rhaegon would do now, but he felt guilty for allowing this to go so far without telling him.
"Brother I-" Rhaegon raised his hand to since Aemond.
"I've been disappointed by many people in my life. I just never thought that you would be one of them." Rhaegon said and those words struck Aemond like a dagger in his heart. Father and Rhaenyra will join us shortly. Rhaegon walked past Aemond. Suddenly he winced in pain and looked at down. He saw a hand holding a dagger halfway in his stomach. When he looked up he saw a man with a firefly badge and when the man opened his mouth, Rhaegon could see his tongue had been removed.
"No!" Aemond quickly unsheathed his sword and decapitated the assassin. Rhaegon fell to his knees. "No! No. No. No. Rhaegon, wake up! Somebody help me!" Aemond watched as Rhaegons eyes closed, and he cried over Rhaegons body.
