Chapter 3

The demon castle

He fell in love with a demon

Waking up in a dark room with no windows was scary. And the tall dark figure that was standing in front of Theo didn't really give off a feeling of comfort.

Theo was not able to see much of the person but he could see that whoever it was they were amused since the small light coming from the torch on the wall showed that the person was smirking.

"Who are you?" Theo asked in a sharp voice.

"The last face you will see before you meet a good friend of mine, Hades." the figure said and stepped into the light.

In front of him stood a beautiful tall man, no, a demon. It was the demon prince, there was no doubt. He had many rings on his fingers, and a dark red cape that dragged at least 5 feet behind him. And his eyes were as black as midnight sky but yet they were wild like an ocean and you could see the whole univers in them, they were narrowed and had double eyelids, unlike any eyes Theo has ever seen. His raven black hair was spiked up with a single strain of hair being firey red. The pale skin looked so fragile, like silk yet hard as stone. The demon also had long, sharp, black nails. All in all he was beautiful. The stories were poor compared to his real looks, Aleksei, the demon prince of darkness, was a nightmare dressed like a daydream.

All in all he was even more stunning then people described him.

"Aleksei." Theo spat.

"It's your royal highness for you, pretty boy." the prince said and came closer, grabbing Theo's face and looked him in the eyes "And don't even bother telling me your pathetic story I'm sure you spend days making up. Of how your beloved people banished you because you didn't want to kill the "creatures of the dark" as you call us. And how you hoped that we are not what they tell you, and that I will so foolishly offer you shelter. And once I trust you enough you would slit my neck or stab me directly through my heart of stone. I heard of you and your master Theodore Darlington." his voice was so soft and fluid but deep, like silk and velvet combined.

Theo kept quiet, trying to think of a new story to tell.

"The only reason you are not alredy begging me to kill you and end your suffering is because my mother forbid any bloodshead before my birthday so I don't accidentally kill my potential mate, so you have two more weeks to live. Until then you will be helping my private servent." the demon let go of his face and started to walk away but turned around "Oh, and if you even think about trying to hurt me, just know I put a binding spell on you, so if you do anything to me you and everybody you care for will die most painful death." with those words the beautiful nightmare walked away.

Theo couldn't tell if Aleksei was bluffing but he couldn't risk it, which meant he needed to get out of there before the prince's birthday.

He tried to move to see if there was any chance of escape but as soon as he moved the chains on his wrists and ankles tightened.

"Damn it." he mumbled. "Is there anybody else in here?!"

No responce. Just dead silence. That just disturbed Theo more. To somebody it might have been comforting but Theo knew it was only because in these cells nobody lives longer then a month.

Aleksei was known for his wicked torturing methods and brutal killing ways. His favourite was burning people limb by limb. Fire was his main demon power. Some say he is capable of burning down whole towns.

His thinking about escape was interrupted about two hours later when somebody walked in.

It was a short skinny man, by looks not older than 30, in decent clothes. That couldn't have been Aleksei's servent, could it?

The man opened the door and walked towards Theo to get him freed of his chains. As he was doing so he said "I'm Trottler, the prince's servent. Just do as I say and you won't get in much trouble."

"You are a servant?" Theo asked, not even realizing that he's talking to a demon since Trottler looked so harmless and human.

"Sure am." he said in a high pitched voice. "Now let's get going. Master needs to get his tea before he goes to sleep or we are in big problems. We also have to clean his room and make sure his sheets are freshly washed and smell like black roses."

Theo wanted to protest but remembered that he has no choice and that he needs to get out of this dungeon if he wants to escape so he just nodded.

"Spoiled much huh." Theo mumbled to himself.

"Don't let anyone hear you say that if you don't want to be burned alive." Trottler warned.

"Why? Shouldn't I just watch out so that he doesn't hear me?"

"No, since as complicated as my young lord is, here he is a hero and you won't meet a demon, warlock, vampire, werewolf, dwarf, elf or anyone who will tell you otherwise. Hurry up now, and no more questions." the servent told him but Theo, being Theo, didn't listen.

"What are you even doing here? Why would a human be demon's servent?" He simply couldn't believe Trottler was a demon, he must've been lying.

"I am not human boy, I am a demon and I said no more questions."

What? He is a demon? Theo thoght. But how? He didn't have that evil look nor did he try to hurt him. Maybe he wasn't like the others? No! What are you thinking? Ofcourse he is like the others, they are all the same.

After thousands upon thousands of narrowed stairs and tiny hallways they got to a large hall. This is when Theo noticed that the whole castle was made out of black glass. There were blood red carpets over the floor, several flags on the walls, chandeliers made out of black metal with candles that glow red light were placed every 10 feet over the ceiling.

The whole place gave off creepy but stunning vibes. Just like it's owners.

The flags were all black, each representing one kind of creatures. They said Children of the night, Children of the moon, Children of Lilith, Children of the angel, Fair folk and the biggest one The demon kingdom.

"Hei, why does it say "Children of the angel" up there?" Theo asked once again.

"It stands for Nephilims, your kind banished even angel blooded creatures, you started hunting shadowhunters because you viewed their runes as witchcraft so they were forced to seek shelter here, with demons, and let me tell you we have quite a relationship with them. Now shut your mouth." it was visible Trottler was getting annoyed.

We did what now? Why? The Young hunter aksed himself.

"This way boy." Trottler called, leading him to yet another staircase that lead to, it seemed, the highest tower in the castle.

When they got to Aleksei's room it was exactly what you would expect from a demon prince. A huge king sized bed was right next to a window with metal black roses all over it's frame. There was a table full of shiny rings, necklaces, charms and God knows what else. A walk in closet was right there, it was opened and Theo saw hundreds of black, red, gold and purple pieces of clothing. There were velvet capes, silk shirts, leather pants and all you could imagine.

"Let's get started then, you go and change the sheets okay? And don't even think about trying to run away because there are guards everywhere." Trottler warned and started folding Aleksei's clothes.

Theo thought it was smarter to gain some trust from Trottler before trying to escape so he listened. When he touched the sheets on the bed the smell of roses was everywhere. It was so intoxicating for some reason. Theo couldn't help it and he ruffled them a bit more.

"Well that's not kinky at all darling." he heared a familiar voice say. He turned around in a second and saw Aleksei sitting on the window.

"In the name of God why are you naked?!" Theo screamed and turned around covering his eyes.

"Aww, embarrassed much?" Aleksei teased while Trottler put a bath robe over him. "Well if you so must know a raven flying around in clothes would look a bit weird now, wouldn't it? Now I'm going to take a bath and if you two aren't done here you are going to be food for Cerberus the second." he snapped suddenly and walked away.

"Do I want to know what Cerberus the second is?" Theo asked Trottler.

"Master's three headed giant dog he got from Hades about three hundred years ago. Well it's a pup from real Cerberus and master gave him the same name to sound more terrifying."  Trottler explained as if he was telling him how to make tea.

"Of course." Theo sighed and continued his work, however it was interrupted again when someone started yelling in the hallway.
