Chapter 118
The Cherished Wife by Chweety
Wife 118 Chapter 118 Charles had told everyone it was time to leave, and Chloe, having gotten what she wanted the most, did not plan to stick around.
However, she stopped and turned back at the door. âCharles, if you ever need help in the future, you can count on me.â
Charles just smiled and stayed quiet.
Noelle was getting ready to leave work when her phone rang. It was her Grandpa Samuel, which caught her off guard.
âGrandpa?â
âNoelle, are you done for the day?â Samuelâs voice sounded old and weary. âIâd like to see you.â
Noelle bit her lip and checked the time. âYou mean right now?â
âYes, itâs been a few days since Iâve seen you, and I miss you. But I know itâs not easy for you to come to the Shawâs with your mom and dad... Well...â Samuel let out a heavy sigh. âLetâs just meet up, okay?â
âSure!â Noelle agreed. âLetâs meet at Homestyle Garden House.â She had started the coffee house with a . friend and had some shares in it. It was doing well, but it was not really of Noelleâs concern.
After setting up a time and place with Samuel, Noelle called Charles. âItâs me!â
Charles was also about to leave work and was surprised to hear from Noelle. âYes? Whatâs up?â
âI might be late getting back tonight. My grandpa... He wants to see me.â Noelle felt a little awkward. It was Rowena yesterday, and now her grandpa. âHe might need to talk to me about something.â
Charlesâs face grew serious, and his eyes darkened a bit. âOkay!â He added, âBe careful out there, and call/ me if you need anything!â
âOkay!â Noelle ended the call, feeling a warm glow inside. She remembered how she and Xavier used to chat for hours on the phone, sharing what they were up to.
However, after they both started working, those long talks became few and far between.
With Charles, she was not quite sure what to make of it all. However, she figured that since they were married, keeping each other in the loop was just respectful.
Noelle got to Homestyle Garden House right on time and saw her friend Teresa Saunders. âYour grandpaâs been waiting a bit.â
âThanks, Teresa,â Noelle said with a smile. She slipped off her shoes and walked in to find Samuel sitting and Mr. Thompson standing nearby. Samuel waved her over. âNoelle, come to Grandpa!â
âGrandpa!â she said, walking up to him. âDid you get here early?â
âYes,â Samuel replied, handing her a cup of coffee. âIs work wearing you out?â
âNot one bit!â Noelle said cheerfully. âWhat did you want to talk about today, Grandpa?â
Samuel paused, then glanced at Mr. Thompson, who quickly handed Noelle an envelope. She looked at it, puzzled. âWhatâs this?â
âJust take a look,â Samuel encouraged.
Noelle hesitated, then opened the envelope with a look of surprise. âGrandpa, why are you giving me ãã³ +15 BONUS shares in City Ring Corp.?â
âMy dear Noelle,â Grandpa Samuel said with a warm smile, âIâve wanted to give these to you for a while. Youâre part of the Shaw family too. It wouldnât be fair if your sister had shares and you didnât. Here, take this pen and sign your name. Iâll take care of the rest.â
âNo. I donât want them.â Noelle pushed the papers away and shook her head. âYou know I donât care about this stuff. And you remember what happened with Mom and Dad...â She trailed off, shaking her head again. âTheyâre your shares, Grandpa. I really donât want them.â
