Chapter 33
Falling For The Bad Boys
TAYLA
I used the key Logan had given me to unlock the door, waving at Hayden as his jeep pulled away.
Closing the door behind me, Jess emerged from the kitchen. She came over and wrapped me in a warm hug.
âAre you okay?â she asked, her voice laced with concern.
âYeah. I guess Logan told you about last night?â
She nodded. âHe was livid. He even called your mom and spilled everything.â
I rolled my eyes. Just what I needed.
âIs he at work?â I whispered.
She nodded again, taking my arm and guiding me towards the kitchen. As she put the kettle on, I leaned against the counter.
âIâm moving in with Walker and Hayden,â I announced.
âLogan mentioned it. If itâs what you want, Iâm happy for you. But, can I ask you something?â
I nodded.
âAre you sure about moving in so quickly?â
I smiled at her. âI am. I know itâs fast, but I feel so loved, so safe. And the sex is amazing,â I confessed.
âDoesnât it bother you what they do for a living?â
I thought about Dominic, carrying a squirming body bag down to the basement, and shook my head.
âI donât want to know about it. I just want them,â I admitted.
She sighed, continuing to make coffee.
âJust so you know, Walker said you can visit me anytime,â I added.
Her face lit up. âReally?â
âAbsolutely. I still want us to be friends, Jess,â I assured her.
Her smile was so wide, I could see all her teeth.
âJust donât bring Logan. I get the feeling Hayden isnât a fan,â I warned.
âTayla, this is great. I was worried youâd just leave me,â she admitted, relief washing over her.
âNever!â I promised.
I pulled out my new phone and gave her my number.
âSo, whoâs bigger? Walker or Hayden?â
âJess!â I laughed.
âCome on, I need to know. Even though I prefer tacos, Iâm curious,â she insisted.
I giggled at her taco reference, feeling my cheeks heat up.
âWell...Walkerâs longer, but Haydenâs thicker. They both fuck like beasts, so itâs hard to say,â I tried to explain.
âAs long as they both make you come, thatâs all that matters, right?â
âOh, Jess. Iâve never come so much in my life,â I sighed.
âAre you falling for them?â she teased.
âMaybe? I donât know if itâs possible to fall in love with two people. Our relationship is unique, not something I ever thought Iâd be into, but thereâs definitely something there,â I confessed.
âDo they have any hot sisters I could meet?â
âI have no idea,â I laughed.
âWell, a girl can dream,â she sighed.
âWhy donât you come over tomorrow night for dinner and meet Walker and Hayden?â I suggested.
âWould they be okay with that?â she asked.
âYou make them sound like monsters. Theyâre not like that,â I assured her.
âYeah, but you hardly know them,â she pointed out.
She had a point.
âIâll text you to make sure itâs okay,â I offered.
âOkay.â
She handed me my coffee and we stood together for a bit.
âIâm going to grab some stuff from my room,â I told her.
She nodded and we took our coffees upstairs. She sat on the bed while I packed my duffle bag with my clothes and few belongings.
I made a face when I realized Iâd packed everything I owned into one bag.
âI guess Iâm actually moving out today,â I said, a hint of sadness in my voice.
Jess got up from the bed and hugged me.
âYou donât have to,â she reminded me.
I shook my head. âI didnât realize how little I brought with me,â I admitted.
She touched my face gently, looking into my eyes.
âCan I say something without sounding bad?â she asked.
I nodded.
âIf you ever change your mind about them and want to move back in here, just call me, okay?â
âItâs nice to know I have a backup plan if things go south,â I told her.
âAlways,â she promised.
~I hope nothing goes wrong,~ I thought.
âShould I tell Logan youâve moved out?â
âLogan knows, but your mom doesnât.â
In the doorway stood Logan, phone pressed to his ear, no doubt talking to my mom.
He held out his phone to me with a smirk, as if to say, I told you so.
I took the phone and held it to my ear.
âHi, Mom!â I greeted cheerfully.
âWhat the hell do you think youâre doing?â she scolded.
âThe weatherâs lovely here,â I said, ignoring her.
âI didnât ask about the weather! Logan said youâre messing around with drug dealers!â
âYes, Loganâs here, and heâs still the same jerk he was when we were kids,â I said, rolling my eyes.
Loganâs mouth dropped open in shock, and Jess stifled a giggle.
âAre you even listening to me? Whatâs going on over there?â
âItâs great to hear from you, Mom, but I have to go now. Talk soon!â I said, and hung up.
I tossed the phone back to Logan, shooting him a glare.
âDid you really have to tell my mom?â I snapped.
âYou wouldnât listen to reason, so I thought she might get through to you,â he defended.
âYou thought wrong.â
I slung my duffle bag over my shoulder and headed for the door, but Logan blocked my path.
âGet out of my way!â I demanded.
âTayla, canât we talk about this?â Logan pleaded, standing his ground.
âLogan, step aside or Iâm calling my boyfriends to come pick me up,â I threatened.
âWhy do you think theyâre your saviors? Whatâs gotten into you?â
âLogan!â Jess interjected.
âStay out of this, Jess! Who jumps from one abusive relationship straight into the arms of two drug-crazed lunatics?â
âThis isnât your business!â I yelled at Logan.
âAre you suffering from PTSD or something? Have you lost your mind?â
I dropped my duffle bag on the floor and reached into my jeans pocket for my phone.
âNo!â
Suddenly, Logan lunged at me, pushing me back onto my bed and straddling my hips.
âWhat the hell are you doing!â Jess shrieked.
I drew back my fist and punched him in the jaw. My knuckles throbbed with pain, but it didnât faze him. He grabbed my wrists and pinned them above my head.
âI canât let you go to those bastards!â Logan declared, tears welling in his eyes.
What the fuck?
Without warning, Logan leaned down and kissed me, trying to force his tongue into my mouth.
âGet off me!â I screamed.
Jess jumped on Logan, managing to throw him off me. I scrambled off the bed.
âSheâs your cousin!â Jess exclaimed, horrified.
I moved behind Jess, who instinctively shielded me with her arm, standing between me and Logan.
âSheâs safer with me than with those two assholes!â he growled, glaring at us.
His eyes were wide and wild, reminding me of Benâs rage-filled gaze from the past. I whimpered in fear.
Logan turned and stormed out of the room. Moments later, the front door slammed shut.
In the kitchen, Jess tended to my bruised knuckles and looked at my tear-streaked face.
âAre you okay?â she asked.
I nodded.
âAre you going to tell them what Logan did?â
I looked at Jess.
âIf I did, theyâd probably kill him,â I admitted.
She nodded and finished bandaging my hand.
âClean up your face before you leave. Theyâll know youâve been crying,â she advised.
I washed my face in the sink and hugged Jess at the front door before heading to my car, stowing my duffle bag in the trunk.
I waved at Jess and climbed in, starting the engine.
For a moment, I just sat there in the driverâs seat, replaying the recent events in my mind.
Walker was right.
I was relieved to be leaving Loganâs house, especially now that I knew how he felt about me.
I shivered and wiped my mouth where he had tried to kiss me.
Knowing what my boyfriends would do if they found out about Logan, I decided it was best to keep quiet.
