Chapter 33

Falling For The Bad Boys

TAYLA

I used the key Logan had given me to unlock the door, waving at Hayden as his jeep pulled away.

Closing the door behind me, Jess emerged from the kitchen. She came over and wrapped me in a warm hug.

“Are you okay?” she asked, her voice laced with concern.

“Yeah. I guess Logan told you about last night?”

She nodded. “He was livid. He even called your mom and spilled everything.”

I rolled my eyes. Just what I needed.

“Is he at work?” I whispered.

She nodded again, taking my arm and guiding me towards the kitchen. As she put the kettle on, I leaned against the counter.

“I’m moving in with Walker and Hayden,” I announced.

“Logan mentioned it. If it’s what you want, I’m happy for you. But, can I ask you something?”

I nodded.

“Are you sure about moving in so quickly?”

I smiled at her. “I am. I know it’s fast, but I feel so loved, so safe. And the sex is amazing,” I confessed.

“Doesn’t it bother you what they do for a living?”

I thought about Dominic, carrying a squirming body bag down to the basement, and shook my head.

“I don’t want to know about it. I just want them,” I admitted.

She sighed, continuing to make coffee.

“Just so you know, Walker said you can visit me anytime,” I added.

Her face lit up. “Really?”

“Absolutely. I still want us to be friends, Jess,” I assured her.

Her smile was so wide, I could see all her teeth.

“Just don’t bring Logan. I get the feeling Hayden isn’t a fan,” I warned.

“Tayla, this is great. I was worried you’d just leave me,” she admitted, relief washing over her.

“Never!” I promised.

I pulled out my new phone and gave her my number.

“So, who’s bigger? Walker or Hayden?”

“Jess!” I laughed.

“Come on, I need to know. Even though I prefer tacos, I’m curious,” she insisted.

I giggled at her taco reference, feeling my cheeks heat up.

“Well...Walker’s longer, but Hayden’s thicker. They both fuck like beasts, so it’s hard to say,” I tried to explain.

“As long as they both make you come, that’s all that matters, right?”

“Oh, Jess. I’ve never come so much in my life,” I sighed.

“Are you falling for them?” she teased.

“Maybe? I don’t know if it’s possible to fall in love with two people. Our relationship is unique, not something I ever thought I’d be into, but there’s definitely something there,” I confessed.

“Do they have any hot sisters I could meet?”

“I have no idea,” I laughed.

“Well, a girl can dream,” she sighed.

“Why don’t you come over tomorrow night for dinner and meet Walker and Hayden?” I suggested.

“Would they be okay with that?” she asked.

“You make them sound like monsters. They’re not like that,” I assured her.

“Yeah, but you hardly know them,” she pointed out.

She had a point.

“I’ll text you to make sure it’s okay,” I offered.

“Okay.”

She handed me my coffee and we stood together for a bit.

“I’m going to grab some stuff from my room,” I told her.

She nodded and we took our coffees upstairs. She sat on the bed while I packed my duffle bag with my clothes and few belongings.

I made a face when I realized I’d packed everything I owned into one bag.

“I guess I’m actually moving out today,” I said, a hint of sadness in my voice.

Jess got up from the bed and hugged me.

“You don’t have to,” she reminded me.

I shook my head. “I didn’t realize how little I brought with me,” I admitted.

She touched my face gently, looking into my eyes.

“Can I say something without sounding bad?” she asked.

I nodded.

“If you ever change your mind about them and want to move back in here, just call me, okay?”

“It’s nice to know I have a backup plan if things go south,” I told her.

“Always,” she promised.

~I hope nothing goes wrong,~ I thought.

“Should I tell Logan you’ve moved out?”

“Logan knows, but your mom doesn’t.”

In the doorway stood Logan, phone pressed to his ear, no doubt talking to my mom.

He held out his phone to me with a smirk, as if to say, I told you so.

I took the phone and held it to my ear.

“Hi, Mom!” I greeted cheerfully.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she scolded.

“The weather’s lovely here,” I said, ignoring her.

“I didn’t ask about the weather! Logan said you’re messing around with drug dealers!”

“Yes, Logan’s here, and he’s still the same jerk he was when we were kids,” I said, rolling my eyes.

Logan’s mouth dropped open in shock, and Jess stifled a giggle.

“Are you even listening to me? What’s going on over there?”

“It’s great to hear from you, Mom, but I have to go now. Talk soon!” I said, and hung up.

I tossed the phone back to Logan, shooting him a glare.

“Did you really have to tell my mom?” I snapped.

“You wouldn’t listen to reason, so I thought she might get through to you,” he defended.

“You thought wrong.”

I slung my duffle bag over my shoulder and headed for the door, but Logan blocked my path.

“Get out of my way!” I demanded.

“Tayla, can’t we talk about this?” Logan pleaded, standing his ground.

“Logan, step aside or I’m calling my boyfriends to come pick me up,” I threatened.

“Why do you think they’re your saviors? What’s gotten into you?”

“Logan!” Jess interjected.

“Stay out of this, Jess! Who jumps from one abusive relationship straight into the arms of two drug-crazed lunatics?”

“This isn’t your business!” I yelled at Logan.

“Are you suffering from PTSD or something? Have you lost your mind?”

I dropped my duffle bag on the floor and reached into my jeans pocket for my phone.

“No!”

Suddenly, Logan lunged at me, pushing me back onto my bed and straddling my hips.

“What the hell are you doing!” Jess shrieked.

I drew back my fist and punched him in the jaw. My knuckles throbbed with pain, but it didn’t faze him. He grabbed my wrists and pinned them above my head.

“I can’t let you go to those bastards!” Logan declared, tears welling in his eyes.

What the fuck?

Without warning, Logan leaned down and kissed me, trying to force his tongue into my mouth.

“Get off me!” I screamed.

Jess jumped on Logan, managing to throw him off me. I scrambled off the bed.

“She’s your cousin!” Jess exclaimed, horrified.

I moved behind Jess, who instinctively shielded me with her arm, standing between me and Logan.

“She’s safer with me than with those two assholes!” he growled, glaring at us.

His eyes were wide and wild, reminding me of Ben’s rage-filled gaze from the past. I whimpered in fear.

Logan turned and stormed out of the room. Moments later, the front door slammed shut.

In the kitchen, Jess tended to my bruised knuckles and looked at my tear-streaked face.

“Are you okay?” she asked.

I nodded.

“Are you going to tell them what Logan did?”

I looked at Jess.

“If I did, they’d probably kill him,” I admitted.

She nodded and finished bandaging my hand.

“Clean up your face before you leave. They’ll know you’ve been crying,” she advised.

I washed my face in the sink and hugged Jess at the front door before heading to my car, stowing my duffle bag in the trunk.

I waved at Jess and climbed in, starting the engine.

For a moment, I just sat there in the driver’s seat, replaying the recent events in my mind.

Walker was right.

I was relieved to be leaving Logan’s house, especially now that I knew how he felt about me.

I shivered and wiped my mouth where he had tried to kiss me.

Knowing what my boyfriends would do if they found out about Logan, I decided it was best to keep quiet.
