Chapter 10

Dares and Drama

Good Luck Charm (Completed)

Dustin drove Vincent over to the address Lucas provided, talking about how cool Lucas was as he went. It was funny, Vincent thought, that Dustin had such a similar mindset surrounding Lucas and soccer players in general, as his boy crazy best friend Hailey. Vincent kept that musing to himself, sure that Dustin only admired Lucas, and didn't find him attractive like Hailey did. Admiration from people like Dustin wasn't the main reason Lucas and Vincent had fallen out, but it was definitely one of the contributing factors to the downfall of their friendship.

Vinny didn't like attention, and being friendly with Lucas always brought unwanted attention; attention Vincent was never prepared to deal with.

The party was already in full swing by the time they arrived, with crazy drunk people spilling out over the lawn and music blasting from the windows. Vincent followed Dustin inside where Lucas was waiting by the door. It made Vincent uncomfortable to believe that Lucas was waiting for him, so he assured himself he wasn't.

"Hey." Lucas called as they walked inside, "You made it." Lucas patted Vincent on the shoulder, in greeting.

"Lucas!" A female voice called, and Lucas looked over and rolled his eyes.

"The drunker they get the more they throw themselves all over me." Lucas joked, pretending to revel in his stardom. Vincent knew Lucas didn't care for people who wanted him because he was an athlete, or drunk people for that matter, and was probably just making rounds at the party. "I should go talk to her for a moment, she'll get all weird if I don't, but you two stay and make yourselves comfortable, and I'll be back."

Vincent watched as Lucas floated deeper into the crowd. The girl angered him, it wasn't like he was jealous, though, he just would have preferred to not be all alone with Dustin for an extended period of time. That problem solved itself as he turned to see Dustin had disappeared from beside him.

Vincent sighed, guessing he'd spend the party all alone, and slowly made my way over to a semi quiet corner. He desperately wished Hailey had come, but, of course, she was at home doing Ryan's homework. Ryan, who was at the party, not home resting for the next day, and was making out with some cheerleader on the couch. Gross.

Vincent couldn't really see any other familiar faces as he looked out in the crowd. Perhaps there were a few people he knew from school, perhaps there weren't; he really couldn't tell. Dustin came out of the kitchen with two drinks in his hands, and waved Vinny over to him.

"Want one?" Dustin asked, with a suggestive smile.

"I shouldn't." Vinny eyed the solo cup suspiciously.

"Why not? You need to have more fun." He began.

"How are we going to get home? You're already drinking, and you've got the car."

"I'm only having one." Dustin smirked, and handed him the drink. Vincent took the cup in his hand, and attempted a small chaste sip. It was absolutely awful, and he made a face as it burnt his throat going down. Dustin chuckled, and patted his shoulder, "Come on let's play a party game." Dustin grabbed his arm and led him over to a little circle where he recognized Marty sitting towards the corner.

"Hey." Lucas said as he came up behind Vincent, "I'm sorry I was gone, I.... Are you drinking?"

"A little." Vinny shrugged. "Why?"

"I didn't know you drank. Is somebody pressuring you, because you don't have to..." Lucas began disapproval evident on his face.

"Nobody's pressuring me.

"Well drinking isn't like you, and... I don't think your mother would approve. Come on, I'll drive you home." Lucas grabbed his arm, and began dragging Vincent away from the group as the game commenced.

"I don't care what my mom would think, I'm at a party!" Vincent exclaimed, pulling on the front of his hair.

"Party or no party, your mom hates drinking because of-"

"Dammit Lucas, stop talking about my mom." Vincent scolded.

"What?"

"We haven't seen each other in years, and all of a sudden you're just like your mom said this, your mom did that." Vincent paused and deepened his voice to sound like Lucas, "Your mother would not approve of the way you're acting, young man."

"She wouldn't!" Lucas insisted.

"I want to have fun tonight. I want to do things I wouldn't usually do."

"Like what?" Lucas arched his eyebrows, cheeks sprinkled with pink.

"I don't see why you should care,  besides, you're drinking too." Vincent gestured to Lucas' beer.

"I'm older." Lucas crossed his arms.

"If it makes you feel better you can keep an eye on me, but I am drinking tonight."

"You have a designated driver?"

"Do you?" Vincent countered. "I don't plan on getting drunk."

"Fine. But you're not leaving my side until the end of the night." Lucas loosely wrapped his arm around Vincent's shoulder, and Vincent pursed his lips in annoyance at the action. Lucas smelled good, like he'd showered after the game and applied a generous amount of cologne, which made it even more annoying. They made their way back to Marty's group to find the game already in full swing.

"What game should we play?" Marty asked.

"Truth or Dare!" A girl who might have been in Vincent's math class shouted. "But if you don't want to do something you have to take a sip of your drink." Marty grinned, showing he liked the sound of that. There was murmur of agreement around the circle.

"I think we should play." Vincent suggested.

"I'm not so sure this is you're scene." Lucas explained. "Maybe we should go?"

"I'm having fun. Let's play." Vincent protested.

"Hey Lucas! Come play with us!" A girl called as he walked back. Lucas rolled his eyes, but begrudgingly pulled Vincent over to where the girl was sitting; she smiled in triumph.

"I'll go." The girl next to them began. She scanned the circle and stopped on Vincent. "You're new, I haven't seen you before. What's your name?" She asked.

"That's Vinny." Lucas answered before Vincent could answer.

"Okay Vinny. Truth or dare?" She asked, and Vincent thought for a moment.

"Truth." He stated.

"Are you a party virgin?" She asked.

"Party Virgin?" Vincent's eyebrows furrowed. He wasn't sure if this was some lingo he was meant to know, but didn't.

"Is this your first college party?" She clarified.

"I guess so." Vincent replied and was met with a few whoops around the circle.

"You ask next." Lucas nudged him.

"Oh. Um... Lu, truth of dare?"

"Dare." He smirked.

"Hmm... I guess I dare you to...?" Vinny stuttered unable to think of anything. "Any ideas?" He looked around at the group.

"Take off your shirt!" The girl who dared him yelled. Lucas looked at Vincent for a moment and he shrugged my shoulders.

"It's a dare." Lucas smiled smugly, and quickly removed his shirt, tucking it into his back pocket. Vincent had to look away to stop himself from staring, but he snuck a look over to see Lucas looking right back. Lucas had smooth abs and a body that reflected his athletic prowess.

"Marty. I dare you to make out with Megs." Lucas said turning his attention to a boy across the circle. He had dark hair and a leather jacket, with a slightly disinterested look on his face. Marty turned to Megs, the girl who had suggested the game, and slowly leaned in giving her a passionate kiss, that led to more whoops from around our circle.

"Alright, lover boi." He said finishing his kiss and turning to look at Lucas. "I dare you to chug that entire beer." He said gesturing at the drink in Lucas' lap.

"You're meant to do that as a punishment." Lucas countered.

"Okay." Marty smiled mischievously. "You can either drink the whole beer, or refuse the dare and drink the whole beer."

Lucas shrugged his shoulders and took a sip. When he noticed Vincent's concern he added, "Don't worry. It's just one. I hold my alcohol really well." And with that he chugged the whole thing. His face contorted and he looked like he might throw up, but held it together and gulped.

"Whew! Get my man another!" Marty cheered and someone handed Lucas another beer.

"Megs..." Lucas' words came out slowly. "I dare you to chug your drink." He said, and Megs laughed, but she did as she was told.

"Sarah. I dare you to make out with Marty." Megs suggested.

The girl next to them, Sarah grimaced, but did as she was told.

"I love the attention!"  Marty exclaimed with a smile, and Sarah looked as if she might throw up.

"That isn't fair. Somebody else should have to kiss now." Sarah whined. "Megs, you have to kiss Marty."

"You can't have someone kiss Marty again." Another girl in the group complained.

"And why not?" Sarah pouted. "I had to."

"Ladies, please there's enough of me to go around!" Marty cheered.

"Because it's boring." The girl seemed to be making up rules, and Vincent was willing to wager she liked Marty and wasn't keen on seeing anyone else kiss him. "You have to ask two different people.

"Oh alright," Sarah scanned the audience until her eyes landed on Lucas, and lit up with an idea. "Lucas. I dare you to kiss your friend here." The circle erupted with laughter as Sarah dished out her dare. Lucas held his hand in the air telling everyone to quiet down and slowly opened his beer and began to chug it. He was met with dissatisfied shouts of "coward" and "chicken." Vincent nudged his shoulder and he looked up slightly slumped to the side.

"I think you've had enough, Lu." Vincent whispered.

"So he can dish it out but he can't take it. That's our star player guys!" Marty taunted. "He forfeits his right to dare somebody this round cause he passed. Lily you ask next, you haven't given one out yet." Marty said gesturing to a girl in the corner who grinned with delight at getting a turn.

"Marty. Vinny missed out on a kiss with Lucas, so I think you should give him a lap dance. In fact, I dare you to give Vinny here a lap dance. And whoever ducks away first has to chug their drink." She smiled maliciously. Slowly Marty inched forward and painstakingly climbed onto Vincent's lap, almost straddling him

"Don't get too attached. It's just for the game." He whispered, and Vinny met his smirk with a scowl. He leaned in and began provocatively grinding his hips against Vincent, his arms gripping tightly onto the smaller boy's shoulders. It went on for a few moments with the rest of the group chanting to keep going. Vincent's face flushed red, and his breath hitched in his throat. It was incredibly awkward with everyone laughing and talking, and he was beginning to panic. Lucas was watching intently from next to Vincent, and his brows furrowed in frustration. He knew Vincent better than anyone, and could see from the boy's beet red face and nervous eyes that he was not doing well.

"Hey." Lucas brushed Marty's arm. "Hey, that's enough." Lucas hit Marty's shoulder a little harder and rose his voice slightly.

"I'm just doing my dare. Vincent here could tell me if he wanted me to stop." Marty chuckled.

"Dude. I said that's enough." Lucas leaned over, and pushed Marty off of a terrified Vincent, earning several boos from around the group.

"Whatever bro. He's got to drink, then." Marty shrugged.

"You don't have to if you don't want to." Lucas leaned over to whisper.

"It's fine, Lu." Vincent nodded his head, and sat back to chug his drink. Marty's cheeks had a dusting of pink, though no one pointed it out because of the scene Lucas made over Vincent.

"You brought quite the guy there Lu." Marty teased pushing his hair. Lucas chuckled bitterly, no longer in the party spirit, and leaned back to run a hand through Vincent's hair protectively. After that Vincent didn't get involved in any other dares, but Lucas stayed  got increasingly drunk.
