Chapter 20: Sightseeing Part 2

Kismat

"Shourya bhai! Kab se aapko dhoondh rahe hai! Dekhiye! It's a camel! Mujhe camel ride krna hai!" Riya says when she see her brother.

(Shourya brother! We've been looking for you since forever. Look! It's a camel! I really want to ride it!"

Shourya and Virat helps everyone onto the camels. There was only room for two people per camel. Shourya turns to his fiancée to help her onto their camel but she backtracks.

"Nahi. I don't want to!"

Shourya laughs before reaching for her hand.

"No please," she squeals, "mujhe nahi jaana!"

(No!)

(I don't want to go!)

"Kuch nahi hoga, chalo na."

(Nothing will happen, come on.)

Shourya tries to coax her a few more times but she was determined to not ride the camel. He signalled the others to go ahead, they'll meet at the next place for lunch.

The couple decides to walk for a little bit through the market before finding a way to get to the restaurant for lunch. Shourya clears his throat before asking, "Were you scared of the camel ride?"

"Na-nahi, I just didn't want to hurt the camel." Her voice quivers as she tries to act confident.

(N-no.)

"Accha?"

(Really?)

"Ji."

(Yes.)

He laughs.

"Hmmmmm, that night I asked you to sit with me because you didn't acknowledge me when we picked you guys up."

He scratches the back of his neck as he gazes at Meera's dumbfounded face. He was so embarrassed to tell her, but she was so upset about it he didn't want it to linger between them.

"I wanted to say something about it but didn't know how. I know it wasn't the ummm nicest way to approach you but. . . ."

He waits for a reaction and about a couple of seconds later he hears a soft, melodious giggle.

She wasn't mad

"Toh yeh aap wase bhi toh keh sakte the, raat ko aise bolne ki kya zaroorat thi?"

(You could have said it as it was then, why did you say it so weirdly at night?)

Shourya turns to her and says, "Oh really, wase bhi keh sakte tha? Sab ke samne? Aur jo sharma kar chup jati woh? Uska kya?"

(Oh really, I could have just said it? In front of everyone? And what about you going all shy?)

Meera looks down at her feet as she blushes.

"Dekha!"

(See!)

Shourya laughs at his fiancée.

"Saab, yeh dekhiye! Nayi chudiyan aayi hai, bohot acchi hai!"

(Sir, look at these! they are new bangles, they are very nice!)

Shourya smiles at the colourful bangles before he turns to his sweet, little Meera and raises his eyebrows.

"Chahiye?"

(Do you want them?)

"Aap khabhi bhi rikshaw mein nahi bethe?"

(You have never sat on a rickshaw before?)

A/N: I don't know the English word for rickshaw

Shourya eyes the small seat of the vehicle as it passes them in the market.

"Nahi."

(No.)

"Toh. . . . ."

(Sooo. . . .)

She looks up at him, "aaj bethenge?"

(Will you it on it today?)

"By the way you're looking at me, it doesn't look like I have a choice."

Meera bubbles with excitement. She loves riding rickshaws, it makes her feel like she's flying. Meera stops a bright red rickshaw and her future husband gave him the address before they got on. Shourya watches Meera close her eyes and let the wind kiss her, she looks so peaceful, so calm, so soft, so carefree. As he gazes at her he comes to realise –

I'm falling in love with her. I'm soo gone.

"Daal makhni, malai kofta, kadahi paneer, jeera rice aur garlic naan. Sab ke liye coca cola bhi. Aur haan 2 plate pasta aur ek plate chowmein. Aur kuch chahiye hoga toh mangawa lenge."

Virat pays for the order before walking over to their table.

(daal makhni, malai kofta, kadahi paneer, jeera rice and garlic naa. Coca Cola for everyone. And yes, two plates of pasta and one noodles. If we want anything else we'll ask for it.)

Meera and Shourya were sitting opposite Rohan and Priya, there was tension between all four of them. Priya kept eyeing the clothes and jhumkas Meera was wearing, whereas Meera was squirming under the tension between Rohan and Shouriya. The rest of the group was oblivious to what was going on between them.

Jai makes his way over to Meera and sits on her lap but plays with Shourya's hand. He likes Shourya, they were friends now.

Shourya takes this as an opportunity to distract himself and Meera, he puts an arm around her chair as he leans into Jai.

"Meera di, yeh chudiyan nayi hai kya? Pehle toh nahi pehni thi." Muskan points out the bright pink glass bangles on her wrists. Meera looks over at Shourya before looking away from everyones gaze.

(Meera, are these bangles new? You weren't wearing them before.)

"Ooohhhhh! Ab samhji, Shourya jiju ne leke diye hai na!"

(Ooohhhhhh! Now I get it. Shourya jiju got them for you right!)

Shourya just smiles at his fiancée as she deals with the teases. Just then the food comes and they begin to serve themselves. Meera was sitting on the edge of the table and she had Jai in her arms, so her access to the food was very limited. Therefore, Shourya would take the dish and serve her, before serving himself.

The way he spoke to her was so gentle that no one would have guessed he was threatening his cousin not so long ago. Priya gazes at the couple before looking over at Rohan who had started to eat. Although she was closer to the food, she wanted Rohan to serve her like Shourya was doing with Meera.

Why is everyone so caring towards her? Looking after her like she's a fragile doll. She's nothing special. She's not even that pretty, at least not as pretty as me. That's why Rohan left her. Then why does she have everyone wrapped around her finger? Why does he take care of her like that?

"Kuch aur chahiye tumhe?"

(Do you want something else?)

"Nahi"

(No thank you.)

"Tumne bilkul toda sa liya, ise toh kuch nahi hoga."

(You've only taken a little bit. This won't do anything.)

"Nahi bas aur nahi."

(No, no more.)

"Accha, meethe mein icecream khaogi?"

(okay, will you have ice cream for sweet?)

"hmmmm, thik hai."

(hmmmm, okay.)

Meera smiles and nods her head.

"Haan, ice cream chahiye." Jai sqeaks. The couple laughs as they gaze at each other.

(Yes, I want ice cream.)

After lunch, the group found an ice cream parlour, Shourya got everyone settled in outside as he went in with Virat to get everyone ice cream. And one at a time, everyone got their ice cream. Shourya brings over his fiancée's ice cream in a cup.

"Aap nahi lenge?" she asks as he gives her the ice cream. "Nahi, I don't like sweets."

(You won't have any?)

(No.)

Meera stares at him for a second before nodding her head. Who doesn't like sweets? But he's really sweet, hehe!

Okay! Last update for today. Bye! See you next time :)
