The Gay Project
Okay, keep it in mind that Louis is 17 and all of his siblings are the age they are now. For example, Lottie is only a year younger than Louis. But Gemma is twenty, so don't question anything (:
~~~
Louis was so happy to see his family.
He and Aunt Delilah left that Monday and were staying until Saturday.
They'd only been there for two days and Louis was so happy.
He hasn't met his newest siblings but once, last year's Christmas, so Louis was now able to see the two babies. His other siblings were growing, too, even his sister, Lottie, had a boyfriend, but Louis didn't have the heart to threaten him because he wasn't in Lottie's life as much as he should be anymore.
Louis was currently in the twins' room, playing dolls with Phoebe and Daisy, who were delighted to have their older brother back.
"What's your boyfriend's name?" Daisy asked as she watched Louis dress his two male dolls.
"Um, what should his name be?" Louis asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Harry! That's his boyfriend's name at home," Lottie said as she entered the room, smirking.
"How do you know that information?" Louis asked from his place on the floor.
Lottie placed a hand on her hip, rolling her blue eyes. "Aunt Delilah, of course! Says he's so handsome!"
Phoebe and Daisy giggle, which turns into laughs as Louis blushes, shooting Lottie a glare.
"Alright, his name is Harry. You have to marry Harry so that we can go to the wedding!" Daisy ordered, making her blonde-haired doll 'walk' towards Louis's doll.
"Alright, alright," Louis mumbled, making the 'Harry' doll bend over. He spoke in a low voice, or as low as Louis could get, trying to imitate Harry.
"Louis Tomlinson, will you marry me?" Louis's voice went back to his own, ignoring the giggles around him. "Of course I will! Let's get married today!"
The girls squealed and even Lottie came to join the game of dolls.
~~~
"Lou, are you staying forever?" Daisy asked as Louis's quick fingers wove her hair into a French braid.
"I can't, babe, I have school to return to," Louis said softly, hoping to not upset the young girl.
"You'll come back after school, right?" Louis's sister, Fizzy, asked from her place on the recliner.
"Maybe," Louis said, giving his sister a small smile.
"Dinner is ready!" Jay called from the dining room, signaling all the girls to scramble to the table, except Daisy, who was patiently waiting for Louis to finish her braid.
Once it was done, the two joined the packed table and Louis fixed his and Daisy's plates, smiling at the girl when she thanked him.
Louis missed this, missed his family.
"So," Jay said as she cut up her chicken. "I decided that I'll reveal the big news tonight."
Everyone looked up at her and Louis raised an eyebrow.
"You're not pregnant, are you?" Louis said with a laugh, but he was being serious, casting a fleeting glance towards the youngest set of twins.
"I am not," Jay said, scowling at Louis. "I've actually been promoted!"
Everyone let out gasps and Phoebe said, "What's pro-mo-tid?"
"Promoted. It means Mummy owns her own shop now," Jay informed her daughter.
"That's great, Mum," Louis said as Mark squeezed Jay's hand. He didn't talk much, but he was happy for his wife.
"Well, I was thinking, since Delilah wants to get into the business... You all can move out here to Manchester and she can work with me!"
Louis's fork clattered onto his plate and Delilah smiled brilliantly, informing everyone that her and Jay had already talked about it and it was set to happen, the move schedule for December.
Louis could feel his heart beating wildly in his chest.
"Lou! You get to move back with us!" Daisy squealed, but Louis was tearing up.
"Lou-"
"I can't move!" Louis said, standing up from the table. "I have nearly eight months of school left and you're deciding that I need to move schools, during my last school year!? I stayed in Doncaster because it's my home!"
"I know you're upset," Jay stared to say, but Louis was already storming off towards his old room, slamming the door closed.
He laid onto his childhood bed, letting out a sob. He couldn't leave Doncaster! He was finally getting what he wanted, finally getting used to coming out, and his mother and aunt decide to team up against him like this!
There was a knock on his door, but he ignored it.
"Louis, please can we talk?" Jay asked from the other side. Without permission, Jay came in and closed the door behind her, sitting on the edge of Louis's bed and sighing.
"Look, Bear, I know that moving can be hard, but-"
"I have to leave everything! I'm finally happy!" Louis sobbed, ignoring his mother's comforting words.
"Baby, I called Niall and Calum's parents and neither have any room for you, dear, they live in tiny houses. I knew you wouldn't want to move, but your aunt can make so much off of this!"
"What's so great about designing wedding gowns?" Louis snapped, causing Jay to scowl.
"I don't appreciate your attitude, Louis William! I'm doing what I think is best for my sister, not for an unappreciative teenage boy!"
Louis sat up, wiping his red face, glaring at her. "How am I unappreciative!?"
"You stayed behind! You let your family leave you because you were so determined to be happy in Doncaster- without us!" Jay snapped, livid with her son. "It's so damn hard for me, a a mother, to have my son, just barely fourteen, decide he wants to live with his aunt instead of me!"
Louis pouted out his bottom lip, crossed his arms, and let out a whine. "You know it wasn't like that!"
Jay closed her eyes, the image of her childish son still in her head. "Louis, you're my boy, my baby boy, even if you aren't my only anymore. I'm sorry that I'm excited for you to come back... What about Ed? Why don't you go talk to Sheila about moving in with her? Lots of room..."
Jay knew that Louis and Ed had only recently became friends again, but Louis really was going to be miserable if he came to Manchester.
"I don't know, Mum. I don't think Ed and I should live together," Louis said quietly.
"What's on your mind, dear?"
And Louis told her.
He told her about his crush on Ashton, Harry moving to Doncaster and being his pretend boyfriend, how sweet Harry was, the bet with Ian, the almost-kiss with Ed- everything.
It was nice to let it all out, and Jay was so happy to be able to have a nice conversation with her son.

Louis sighed, shifting his laptop so it could focus on him as he moved around his room, not able to keep still any longer.
"-And I just don't see why Delilah can't wait until the summer," Louis finished, crossing his arms as he paced.
"I dunno, Lou... I don't know what I'd do if you moved," Harry said sadly, biting his lip as he looked at Louis through the camera. "What are you going to do?"
"Mum suggested I asked Sheila- Ed's mom- to move into their house but I don't know how I feel about that. We could end up killing one another!"
Harry sighed, using his hands to distract himself, staring at the entwining fingers.
"I wish you could move in with me," Harry mumbled.
Louis stopped pacing, widening his eyes. "Harry! That's brilliant! I can move in with you!"
Harry scrunched his eyebrows together, shaking his had immediately. "No, you can't."
"You have two guest bedrooms, plenty of room, and the girls will eat that up- you'd do anything to keep me in Doncaster!" Louis said, already deciding where he's hang up his posters in Harry's guest room- the room closest to Harry's, of course.
"No, I don't think so-"
"Why not!?"
"Lou... There's just things," Harry said sternly, getting into a sitting position.
"Oh... Like the secret with your sister?" Louis asked, rolling his eyes.
"That's exactly what it is. I'm not ready to tell you- it'll scare you. But I can't keep it from you when she comes and visits."
"Harry-"
"You'll just have to love to Manchester, Louis. It's over," Harry said in a voice of finality.
Louis fell to his knees, burying his face in his hands. "I know! I'm just... I don't want to start over, Harry! It's so scary for me because the people there are starting to accept me because of your help. There's no bloody way I can find another Harry here!"
Harry let out a sigh, closing his eyes even though he already couldn't see Louis. It was silent for a minute until Harry spoke.
"I'll never find anyone like you, either, Lou- thank God. I'm already so fond of you. We'll do this, okay, we'll find a way," Harry assured his best friend, hoping he could keep his promise.
~~~
There was a knock on Harry's door.
"Come in, Mum," Harry called as he read Louis's reply. They hadn't stopped texting and Skyping since Louis left only four days ago. One more day and he'd be back but it wasn't as excited knowing he possibly only had one month left in Doncaster.
Anne stepped into the room, carrying two mugs, smiling at Harry as he raised an eyebrow.
"I brought you some coffee," Anne said, sitting on Harry's bed and handing over the green mug, taking a sip from her own cup.
"Thanks, Mum... What's the occasion? You haven't done this since we moved."
Anne shrugged, bringing her legs to cross on Harry's bed. "I finally have time. Being a veterinarian is time-consuming."
"I know," Harry replied, smiling up at her.
"What's on your mind, dear?"
"Oh... It's no big deal, Mum," Harry said quietly, sipping his coffee.
"Harry," Anne said sternly. "I'm your mother, yes, but I'm also your friend. You can talk to me."
"It's just that..." Harry idly stirred the hot beer age with his finger. "I like Louis a lot. I'm not sure why, I mean, I like girls... And it's just... Louis's different. But he's moving and he thinks this is all fake anyways, so when he asked if he could stay with us until graduation, I said no and told him it was about Gemma... But I'm scared I'll grow feelings for him."
Anne sighed, resting her mug in her lap and looking up at the ceiling, eyes scanning the attic picture before smiling softly an looking at Harry.
"You know that no matter the gender, love is love. I'm sure your sister has taught you that. Don't be scared to hold back your feelings for Louis, okay? And you know he's accepted here," Anne said, rubbing Harry's calf affectionately. "I love you."
Harry smiled back at her. "I love you, Mum."
