Return!
Life is better with you!
Throughout the day, I hang out with Miles. He's a pretty cool little kid. He talks about a ton of in video games and collects action figures. The normal little boy things. He's pretty cheerful most of the time, even when he is sick. He does wish a lot that he had a kinder sister though.
"Why is your sister a jerk anyway?" I ask watching the boy play Jump Jackson Jump on his handheld game console.
Miles, who seems to be completely focused on the game, with the tip of his tongue sticking out of the corner of his, pauses the game and sighs. "Ever since Dad left with the seas with the navy to cross the seas, Olive has been in a bad mood. I think it's because dad understood her the best. After that, she hasn't been the same."
I let the words sink into my head for a moment while Miles goes back to playing his game. Everyone seems to have family problems and it greatly affects their kids. Hm, I wonder why?
That's sarcasm by the way.
"Are you sure you don't want to play, Caesar?" Miles asks for the fifteenth time.
"Look, Miles, I'm fine with watching you. I can't even play anyway." I say trying my best to hide the annoyance and failing by only a little bit.
"Okay."
My eyes drift to the digital clock on the boy's stand. 9:30 is beaming through the darkroom besides Miles's game console,
I turn back to the boy and bring up the suggestion of him going to bed.
"One more level." He says
I roll my eyes. "Dude, you said that like an hour ago. You really should get off."
"I'm almost done!" He exclaims.
He must be fighting a boss because he is getting into this game. He's so focused and tensed up while he mashes ever button on the control to defeat the bad guy.
"After you beat this guy you're going to bed," I say. Gods, I sound like an older sister.
"Okay, sis!" The boy responds without batting an eye.
Sis? I think to myself. Why did he call me sis?
I don't think much about. He may have accidentally said and didn't catch himself or he meant it. He doesn't seem to care much about his mistake so I'm guessing it's the latter.
"No! No! No! I jumped!" The boy cries. He mashes the buttons harder than before, trying his best to recover from his mistake. Instead, tragic music plays and better luck next time pops up on the screen.
Miles, like the big gamer he is, snaps his game shut and slams it against his nightstand and turns over on his side, throwing the blankets over him and curls up in a ball. Little sniffles of frustration ebb from the little boy.
I've seen this way too many times. I've done it. I've gotten mad and frustrated and thrown myself on my bed just to scream in my pillow just to try and take a breather. Or maybe try to suffocate and myself, but we're not getting into that right now.
"It's okay, Miles, it's just a game. You have always try again next time." I say, trying to reach out to the boy.
The boy turns over. I can barely make out the look on his face due to how dark it is.
"I know, but I've been trying so hard to beat this level for the last couple of days and that was the closest I've ever gotten to beating it." Miles whimpers. I can see the tears running down his cheeks. "I'm just so mad."
"That's not a bad thing, you're just passionate about the game and you love playing it. Besides, I understand what it's like to get frustrated. Sometimes I get frustrated with my friends and I can be a real jerk to them sometimes." I say with honesty.
Miles looks at me for a moment. I can see the gears in his head turning to get him to think. "I'm glad I can talk to you, Caesar."
I raise a brow, but I don't question the boy.
"I just think it's nice to talk to someone for a change since Olive hasn't shown much interest in me these last few months. I wish I had the old Olive back. She'd take me to get ice cream every Saturday or at least try to, but she's been a really big meanie." Miles explains himself. "You kind of remind me of my sister when she wasn't rude."
"Oh, yeah? Maybe I'll take you to get ice cream some time." I say.
there's a soft twinkle in the boy's eyes. "Really?"
I think for a second or two while Miles holds his breath. "Sure, I'll come back and take you to... What's the place?"
"Polar ice cream. It's a couple of blocks down from where I live." Miles says.
"Sweet, then I'll take you when I can."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Miles smiles. "Okay, goodnight, Caesar."
The boy rolls over to face the opposite side of me. In a few short minutes, the boy is sound asleep, dreaming of whatever it is he'd like to be dreaming about.
I sigh and take a seat. "What am I going to do?"
Morning comes quicker than expected. I force myself to get up or else I'll miss my chance to escape this place.
I look back at Miles to see if he is still snoozing. He's curled up in a blanket tightly, stilling sleeping. A part of me does feel bad for leaving him without saying goodbye.
I'll get over it.
Maybe.
I make my way slowly down to ground level and jog over to the door to pull myself under the door. Caution is now controlling my body as I scan the room to see if that hell cat will come out to attack me, but it seems to be off somewhere, sleeping soundly like everyone else.
I jog down the hall to Olive's room. The lights are on and shadows dance around under the door. Olive already awake and getting for school.
Great! Just great! I think. That makes things ten times harder.
I'll just have to deal with it as long as it not that damned cat.
I slide under the door and rush over to Olive's nightstand to take cover. I peak out to examine the situation. Olive is nowhere to be seen. She must be in the bathroom.
My eyes land on her backpack. That's my ticket out of here.
I look around one more time before making my way over to the pack. I'm not as sneaky as I think.
"So you're still alive," Olive speaks up out of the blue coldly. I'm starting to believe her voice has some type of ice power because I freeze at the sound of it.
I turn to face the giantess. She's all dressed and ready to go back to school. She looks super annoyed with the fact that school has interrupted her beauty sleep.
I eye her carefully as she walks over to her dresser and picks some items up from it. Her footsteps shake the ground violently as she does so.
She comes back and bends down at the waist to hand me my pants and shirt back.
"Hurry up and get ready. I will not be kept waiting." She grumbles as she picks up her pack.
I quickly change, but I don't prepare myself when Olive plucks me up off the floor just so she can stuff me in her bra again. Olive buttons up her shirt and exits out of her room.
I silently wait for her to get to school, but she takes a few detours to a coffee shop and gets a muffin and a cup of iced coffee.
"I'm surprised the cat didn't kill you," Olive says through the silence.
I say nothing, because There's nothing to be said.
"I'm guessing you've met Miles too since he's the one that probably rescued you," Olive adds. "How kind."
The silence seeps back in the car. I can't tell if Olive is trying to make a conversation or if she's just talking out. I wouldn't want to talk to her anyway.
"He misses you," I say out loud.
"Hm?"
I roll my eyes, realizing that she doesn't have an earpiece in. "He misses you!" I shout.
"So what."
"So wh- are you kidding me right now?! He's your brother, don't you care about him."
"I do, but I've been busy." Olive says casually.
I grit my teeth, growling in a low tone. "Like skipping school and taking a nice and relaxing bath?"
"School is so stressful."
Oh my... I can't believe this woman. She literally has no sympathy for anyone and is so selfish. When she gets out of school life is going to bitch slap her so hard. I wish I'd be there to see, but I don't think it's worth hanging Olive any longer then I already have.
Olive parks and gets out of the car, throwing her pack over her shoulders and makes her way to the building.
I sigh knowing that I can't reach out and try to fix things for Miles. I guess I don't have that big of an influence on people. It'll take more than a simple tiny and an over night stay to fix this sibling relationship though.
"Hey, tiny, tell me what Samantha's first period is." Olive says.
"It's a damn math class. Calculus or whatever." I call up to the giantess.
"Oh, how exciting."
Chatter fills the halls as Olive makes her way down to Samantha's first period. I'll finally be able to see her again and forget this ever happened.
"Tough luck little lady, but your owner isn't here." Olive says.
"Wh-what?" My face grows pale.
"But her best friend is so that's a close second right?"
Oh, thanks gods! "Yes!" I yell.
"Ashley."
"What do you want?" Ashley asks coldly. Olive shamelessly begins to unbutton her shirt. "Woah! Save that for your boyfriend!"
Olive ignores the redhead. She reaches in and plucks me out of the confined space. "Tell Samantha that her tiny is boring as hell."
Olive drops me on the table and leaves without saying another word. Leaving Ashley shocked and me in... okay hands.
"Samantha is going to lose it when she finds out who took you." Ashley says, scooping me up and-
"No more bras, Ashley." I say softly. "I just want to relax."
Ashley looks at me oddly before agreeing to my request. Instead, she lets me hangout in her breast pocket for the rest of the day.
