Chapter 12
Hell's Personal Assassin: Book 1
"Hello?" the man repeated, making us freeze. My mind took a second to register what just happened, but after it did my eyes snapped open and immediately went to the spot where I knew the girl was.
"Shit," I whispered, pushing Samael away from me slightly and running over to the girl. I didn't push him roughly, but from the corner of my eye I saw him stumble back and almost trip over his feet. It was like he was in a trance or half-asleep, or something.
Houston, I mind-linked. We have a problem.
What is it? Ariel instantly asked in a worried voice, making me sigh a breath of relief.
I kind of... killed someone, I mumbled, making me receive multiple groans in reply.
You couldn't wait a couple more minutes? I'm in the middle of something, Rahab muttered, making me roll my eyes.
What could possibly be more important than this? I growled, making a voice snicker.
I was making out with some chick, named Ivory, he replied, making a low growl accidentally slip my lips.
I don't care about your fucking toy that's with you in the janitors closet. I need you and your friends right here, right now! I growled, my own words echoing in my head from how loudly I said it.
Damn, are you jealous or something? Belial laughed out, making a growl come out of someone else's voice in the mind-link.
No, I'm just frustrated that he thinks making out with some bitch is more important than covering up a dead body! Especially when there is a man outside of the bathroom doors, repeatedly asking to come in! I screamed in panic, forgetting that Samael was right next to me until now.
'Fuck,' I said to myself, quickly looking over to my right, just to find no one there. I looked behind me, in front of me, and to my left, but it was all the same. Empty.
I mentally started to mutter out cuss words at him and his existence as I grabbed my shirt and started to wipe the blood off the floor with it, noticing that stains were starting to form.
'I hate this so much,' I growled as I started to wipe the blood. I spit on the floor to see if it would have an effect, and just like I thought, the blood started to boil. When I swiped the shirt over it, the blood was gone and there was no stain.
"I never thought I would love spitting more than I do now," I murmured as I started spitting all over the floor.
I'm coming, Cassiel linked quickly, making me sigh in relief and speed up my cleaning process. In under half a minute I had my shirt under the sink getting rinsed out, the floor close to spotless â minus the toilet paper and paper towels that I will not be touching, even if my life depended on itâ, and the girl lying on top of a row of sinks so that the extra blood that's coming out of her will go into the sink instead of the floor.
"I'm here," I heard a voice whisper from right behind me, making me let out the breath I was holding in.
"Thank God," I said shakily, scooting away from the girl to let him see her. "The damage is on her back. Two rows of four claw marks."
"That doesn't matter," he said as he walked toward the girl. "What matters is how much of her is left."
"Wha-"
"Did you eat parts of her body? Is anything of hers lying around?" Cassiel asked quickly, making me shake my head.
"No, everything's in tact and with her," I said as I stared at the girl. Her body was as pale-white as paper and the only thing that still held color was her lips, which were coated in a layer of blood that was coming out of her mouth.
"Okay, Michelle, this is going to sound weird, but I'm going to teach you how to get rid of her," he said quickly as he stared at the door that stopped being knocked on minutes ago.
"You mean, disintegrate her?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, making him stiffen.
"No. This way is a lot more peaceful and... better," he said, turning towards me. "I want you to look at her one last time, then close your eyes and picture her in your head," he instructed firmly, making me nod and do as told.
I never had a problem with picturing things in my head, so so far this was pretty easy. "Okay. Next?" I said with my hands still twitching. Suddenly, I felt two hands gently close down on mine, making me stiffen.
"Now you need to relax, and mentally picture her fading away. Will her away with your mind," he said slowly as he let go of my hands that finally stopped twitching under his grip. I nodded and breathed in and out slowly, picturing the dead girl in front of me slowly fading â disappearingâ, into nothing.
I opened my eyes quickly in nervousness to see if it worked, only to see her still there. "It didn't work," I said nervously, spinning towards Cassiel in a terrified way. "Why didn't it work?" I asked hysterically as I heard multiple pairs of footsteps going towards the bathroom.
"You have to will her away, Michelle. Make her go away," Cassiel said softly, disappearing before my very eyes.
"Damn it," I muttered, realizing that he wasn't coming back. I turned back towards the girl and let out a quiet, helpless cry.
Will her away? I did! I made her disappear! Why isn't she gone?!
Breathe, Michelle, Cassiel said quietly in my head, making me huff out in irritation and put my hands firmly on my hips. This wasn't fair. Why couldn't he just do it for me and teach me how to do it later?
'One more time, Michelle. Come on, you can do it,' my conscious said, making me shake my head and look at the girl again. Maybe I didn't pay attention to the detail of her close enough?
Taking one last look at her, I nodded and closed my eyes with determination. This time, instead of picturing her dead and lying on the ground, I pictured her standing with healthy blonde hair and bright green eyes as she gave me a big grin.
'Now. Will her away,' I said to myself, making my head tilt.
Will her away? Does that mean make her fade away?
Or does it mean make her walk away?
I tilted my head back up straight and with a hopeful look, imagined her turning around and walking away towards a big, black, empty pit, until I couldn't see her anymore.
I slowly opened my eyes and nervously looked over to where she was, just to see slightly bloody sinks. I sighed in relief and turned the water on, letting the blood go down the drain.
Just as the blood disappeared the doors slammed open and I had an idea. As the footsteps came closer towards the stalls Iâ as quietly as I couldâ slid towards the floor and closed my eyes, pretending that I fainted.
'Don't laugh, don't move, and don't you dare talk,' I growled to myself.
'We're back!' a demon screamed, making me wince.
Oh, great.
'If you want to live another day, I recommend you shut the fuck up,' I growled harshly, making them quiet down completely.
'Damn, bitch,' a demon whispered. If my eyes were open they would've twitched.
"Oh. My. God. George, this isn't a prank or a bad kid. The girl's passed out!" a woman screamed in a panicked voice.
"What are yâ oh my, is that blood on her shirt?" a man's voice exclaimed.
Fuck. It didn't come out.
"She needs to get to the nurse. Now," the woman said in a hysterical voice.
"How? I'm not strong enough to pick her up!" the man said as I heard footsteps backing away.
"Go get a young man to help out!" she screamed, making me hold in a genuine smile. She's so caring and helpful. I can't believe I have to kill people like her.
After a couple minutes of listening to rapid footsteps, there was finally a sound. "Why am I in here?" a teenage guy asked, his voice deep and cautious.
"Because we need your help," the woman said, her voice right next to me.
"What's up with the girl?" the guy asked bluntly, making me roll my eyes with them closed.
What do think, stupid ass?
"She fainted. We need you to carry her to the nurse," the man said to the boy, an understanding sound coming out in reply.
"Do I get a pass to my next class?" he asked, making the woman scoff.
"There's a girl passed out and you're worried about a stupid pass?" the woman said, making the boy mumble apologizes as I heard footsteps getting closer to me.
I felt someone gently pick me up bridal style and adjust my head into the crook of his neck, making me hold in a grin. He's carrying me like I would a three-year-old child.
Suddenly we started moving, and I tried to be as limp as possible while I was in his arms. That obviously wasn't going to work, considering it was getting really hard for me not to twitch my hands.
'Fuck it, just pretend you woke up,' my conscious said when we were in the hallway, making me mentally sigh out in relief and slowly open my eyes.
'Damn, he's a good-looking guy,' I said in my head as I pretended to not know where I am.
"What's going on? Where am I? Who are you?" I said in a drowsy voice, narrowing my eyes as if it's hard to keep them open.
"You passed out, honey. We're taking you to the nurse," the red-headed woman said, making me slowly nod my head. I looked around to see if the other manâ Georgeâ was here, but he was nowhere to be found.
"I can walk," I said softly as I turned towards the guy who was carrying me, my head resting on his shoulder.
"No, you won't. It's not safe for you to walk after you literally just passed out," the guy said softly in reply, making me grumble and tuck my head back into the crook of his neck grouchily.
"I'm fine, I can walk by myself," I grumbled lazily, actually feeling a little bit dizzy now.
"I'm not going to let you go, and that's final. You don't even sound completely with it, so why would I even think of letting you go?" the boy said, making my cheeks turn pink from embarrassment.
"Well, I still thinkâ"
"Okay, that's enough you two. Don't act like a married couple unless you're planning on becoming engaged," the woman said with a knowing smile, making the guy stiffen and me choke on my own spit.
Holy Hell, where did that fucking come from?
"We don't even know each other!" both of us exclaimed at the same time, the shock of that making him almost drop me.
"Oh my God," I breathed out shakily after he got a better grip on me again. "You know, I feel like me being carried isn't that much safer than me walking."
"You know what, Iâ"
"Both of you better get along, or else I'll make you get along in detention," the woman said with a raised eyebrow, making both of us snap our jaws shut.
"Yes, ma'am," we replied at the same time in low voices, just as we got to the nurse.
