Jimin's POV
3 days until preparing for the mating ceremony
When I woke, the bed was empty. I lazily dragged a hand over his side, opening my eyes to reveal the empty space, still warm with where he laid. My heart broke as I cried quietly into my pillow, soaking the fabric and feathers beneath. I fell asleep alone, ate dinner alone, bathed alone, and laid alone. The four days passed slow and bitterly, every day more lonely than the last. I sat on the couch on the last day, wrapped in a cardigan and some sweatpants, biting my lip. It was nearing dark and he was supposed to be home already. I sighed at the thought and gently rubbed the back of my neck anxiously.
Suddenly, a small knock came to my door, making me look over quickly in hopes it was Jungkook. Instead of him, an unfamiliar face appeared at the door, the light of our lanterns outside illuminating her silhouette. I furrowed my brows, unsure who the stranger is. A few seconds ticked by before the name Jiyoo popped into my head. Right, the secretary of the pack council, one of Jungkook's close friends.
Wondering what's with the sudden intrusion, wrapping my cardigan around me tighter with a small shiver, I nervously waddled over, unlocking the door with caution. I carefully opened the door and smiled at her, trying to relax.
"Hello," I whispered, opening the door and letting her in.
"Luna." She greeted, pushing past.
I shook my head with a small smile, telling her to call me Jimin instead. Jin nodded and walked further inside, looking around with wary eyes. She took a few steps forward and decided to stand in the kitchen as I walked over to the couches and sat down, resting my arm over the back.
"I haven't seen you around a lot, how are you doing?" I asked cautiously, not knowing exactly what she was doing here.
"I've been fine." She answered sharply, but I could tell something was off.
"Is everything okay?" I asked, nervous she was bringing bad news about Jungkook.
"You mean with the Alpha? Yeah, everything's fine. Last I heard they were almost home. I just came to talk to you." I raised an eyebrow at her words, impressed by her bold action.
"I'm sorry I haven't spent much time getting to know you, things have been a mess and I was just busy with everything. I know you and Jungkook are good friends and I should've introduced myself earlier. I'll try to make it up to you in whatever way I can." I started to ramble, my voice rushed, attempting to guess the odd encounter as best as I could.
She shook her head, "No, I didn't come to talk about that. I just wanted to come over and talk to you for a quick second." I smiled at her words and stood.
"Well then let me pour you some coffee." She nodded as I got up from the couch and walked past her and grabbed a mug, setting it down and starting to pour the hot drink.
"I have to say, I was very surprised that you showed up." I said, turning to face her.
My smile dropped instantly as I met the barrel of a gun being pointed directly at me. I dropped the mug, the glass and coffee shattering on the floor into a million pieces- the hot drink burning my feet. Her hand was shaking terribly and she had started to cry quietly.
"Jiyoo, what are you doing?" I said anxiously, staring at the gun with wide eyes.
"You don't belong here. You don't deserve to be the Luna. You aren't like us." She mumbled, sniffling.
I could tell she was terrified too as her hand quivered under the weight of the weapon. "Jiyoo, hey. It's okay. Put the gun down. We can talk about this." I took a step forward, only causing her to cock the gun. I closed my eyes tightly, letting out a shaky breath as I waited for something to happen.
"Don't move." She snapped sternly. I nodded and stayed put, carefully opening my eyes.
"I know I don't belong here. I'm human and you're werewolves. I know that. But Jungkook chose me. I'm his mate." I told her, my hands slightly raised to show I was surrendering to her.
She laughed, a sneering sound, sniffing afterward. "It should have been someone else. Someone who's actually fucking one of us! It should have been me!" She screamed, making me flinch and close my eyes.
I slowly opened them and met her eyes again. "You don't have to kill me to make me disappear. You can have him. I can leave right now." I told her, trying to come up with something- anything to put the gun down.
She shuffled on her feet and adjusted her shakily grip on the gun. "No, you're lying to me."
I shook my head slowly and looked into her eyes, attempting to make the most convincing face I could muster as my heartbeat quickly in my chest. "I can leave right now. He's coming home soon. You can have him. Look at me, I'm human. I don't have to love him. I can leave right now."
Jiyoo quickly wiped her face. "I don't believe you," She said, "That's why I have to kill you."
"No, no you don't." I tried, my voice turning frantic as her finger got a little too comfortable on the trigger of the dark gun.
"I'm not an idiot! I see his bite marks on your skin, I smell your scents mixed together!" Tears started to slip out of my eyes, running down my cheeks quickly as I realized she had been watching us carefully for some time now.
"Please don't do this," I whispered.
She just swallowed and slowly took in a breath. "I'm sorry, Jimin."

Jungkook's POV
We were nearly home, running at full speed, all thirteen of us ready to see our loved ones. Jimin had been on my mind the entire time I was gone and I had felt nothing but loneliness and emptiness, my own wolf feeling lost.
Jackson howled next to me, signaling to our watch outs that we were home. We ran past them as they howled back, my heart racing.
The only thing on my mind was Jimin. My heart jumped with joy as we approached the gravel road lined with the homes of the pack. As soon as we reached the path, we shifted and changed into the clothes strapped to our backs, all of us smiling and talking.
"Go home you guys. Have a good one." I said, smiling to everyone as they turned to their homes.
I smiled and looked up the road, seeing the entrance of the high ranking homes just in the distance. The thought of Jimin ready to see me filled me a happiness I had never felt before, loving every second of it.
"Just breathe, Jungkook. Don't attack him." I said to myself. I approached our house soon enough, all of the lights on.
I smiled and took a deep breath, walking up to the front and opening the door gently. My blood ran cold at the sight that greeted me. Jimin lay limp on the floor, the back of his head facing me, surrounded in a giant pool of blood.
"Jimin!" I yelled, running forward and collapsing at his side, my eyes shifting back and forth over his body as I sat there, stunned.
I quickly acted, picking him up in my arms and turning him over, adrenaline coursing through my veins at the sight of my mate, limp and still in my arms.
"Jimin? Jimin!" I cried, my eyes welling up with tears, when he weakly looked up at me, his face pale, but still alive.
His hand limply covered an open wound on his shoulder which had provided a substantial amount of blood to the floor. He sighed, "Jungkook?".
I picked him up quickly, holding him close as I rushed outside, immediately making a dash for the pack doctor.
"Jimin, stay with me. You're going to be okay. I love you. Hang on." I assured, looking down at his weak face as I stared at him with worry, concerned at the whiteness of his skin. "Keep applying pressure," I told him, sprinting down the gravel road as fast as I could muster.
The pack doctor's house was easy enough to find, and as soon as I reached the door, I pounded my fist against it and cried for help. The doctor opened quickly, his eyes going wide at the sight of Jimin bleeding out in my arms, blood dripping down my hands and chest.
"Help me." I all but whimpered.
"Come in, come in!" He ushered, running to his kitchen table and swiping off all of the plates and silverware with a loud shatter.
I carefully set down Jimin as the doctor pulled off his cardigan, inspecting the wound. "He's been shot." He grimaced, quickly turning and hurrying to another room to get supplies.
Jimin lay on the table, limp and hurt, my inner wolf yelling at me to help him. I hurried to his side and took his hand in mine, hoping my touch would comfort him.
The pack doctor returned with a metal bowl, large tweezers, and bandages. I growled at the sight as the doctor stood next to Jimin, taking a deep breath, then carefully plunged the tweezers into his skin. Jimin whimpered loudly, making me squeeze his hand in hopes he would know I was by his side. His cries did something to my heart that felt as if it had been stung or stabbed.
I lowered my lips to his ear and began to whisper sweet nothings to him. "I love you so much, Jimin. I'm right here, don't you worry." The doctor steadily pulled the tweezers out, a small bullet on the other end of them. I looked back down at Jimin who had passed out, his hand loosening in mine.
"Why would anyone do this?" I asked the doctor, knowing full well he didn't have any of the answers.
He just looked down sadly, dropping the bullet into the metal bowl, a soft wave of red liquid taking the form of the outer rim. I looked at Jimin, lightly reaching out and pushing his hair away from his forehead as the doctor began to stitch the wound to close it.
"Humans take a lot longer to heal. It will probably take three weeks for this to completely heal." He told me as I stared at Jimin's sweat stained but peaceful face.
The doctor worked quickly, closing the wound and putting thick bandaging over it.
"Can I carry him?" I asked nervously as he stepped away from his side and nodded at me.
"Gently. Walk slow." He advised.
I thanked him and slowly picked him up, walking outside after thanking the doctor.
"I promise you, I'm going to fucking kill whoever did this."
