A night at school

"Wait!". He turned around with his arms crossed and raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah?" He said.

"Umm, I didn't mean what I said. I mean, I didn't SAY what I meant. Just, I don't know, it just feels like everyone I meet ends up hating me and I'm afraid to trust a person again... Even my own mum doesn't want me anymore". At that last sentence I began to cry. Kemi's eyes softened and he took the seat besides me again and wrapped his hand around my shoulder.

"Don't say that. Your mum can never hate you, she gave birth to you and you came out of her wo----"

"Kemi what's up!" Williams called walking towards Kemi and I. Kemi rolled his eyes and frowned. On reaching us she saw me crying and Kemi's hand on my shoulder.

"OMG! Tega, what happened to you? Who made you cry? Just tell me and I'll deal with the person". She said, standing in the middle of Kemi and I.

I hate her!

I stood up and walked out of the class and to the back of the school. I just sat down there lost in thoughts, the tears on my face had dried up and I couldn't cry anymore. I just wanted to sit down there, alone in peace while trying to accept the fact that everyone hates me. There were kids who were envious of me in my primary school anyway.

"Tega".

Gosh! What is up with people and disturbing my life.

I didn't say anything. I just looked up staring at the person and wondered if he secretly hated me also.

"You've been really down today. What happened?" Daniel asked.

"Nothing, I slept late and I got beaten by my dad last night. That's why". I lied.

"Mmm, makes sense. Sorry about that, why did your dad beat you up anyways?". He asked.

Umm, what would I say? My brain wasn't functioning very well at the moment.

"It's a long story". I said with a loud sigh.

"Tega!". I heard two voices call. I came out of where I was and saw Kemi and Williams. She was trying to hold Kemi's hand but Kemi left her and started running to me.

"Why'd you run off like that?" He asked.

I sighed and looked at Williams. He took the hint.

"Tega, why'd you run off? Tell me, what's bothering you?". She looked at me looking worried and concerned.

Uh! She was such a faker.

"Take it easy guys, she just got beaten by her Dad yesterday and she slept late". Daniel explained.

"Shut up! What do you know?!" Williams scoffed. Daniel looked offended. He wanted to say something but shut his mouth again. He shrugged and walked away.

What did he come here to do in the first place?

"Kemi, can you guys please just go and leave me alone". I said, walking to the back of the school. I turned around to see Kemi nod and dragging Williams away. She didn't say a word. She just kept staring at her hands being held by Kemi and his straight face.

Just as I was about to enjoy the quiet moment of being by myself, with the feeling of no problems in my life, they rang the bell for the end of lunch break.

Uh! Life could be so annoying.

I stood up and marched down to class.

"I heard you spoke to Daniel downstairs". Kosi said.

"How did you---"

"I got my Info from a reliable source". She said, smiling at Williams who refused to let go of Kemi's hand.

"Kosi, I'm not in the mood right now. Leave my life alone. What I do with Daniel is none of your business". I stated, resting my head on my desk.

"As long as I'm in the same school and class as you, your business is MY business. And stay away from Daniel if you don't want trouble". I rolled my eyes.

Was she trying to threaten me?

She needs more practice because she's already put me into trouble severally.

After school:

I stayed up in my classroom not willing to go home. I knew my mum and my Aunty would be having another fight at home.

My mum wouldn't want me at home anyway, she didn't need me. Although, I feel it's necessary for me to apologize to her. I did wrong her after all.

Time passed and I felt bored. Finally, I slept off. I woke up and realized it was almost 5:00 PM.

"What a lazy gateman to not have bothered to check if students were still in the school premises". I thought.

I grabbed my back and started walking towards the door. On reaching, I discovered I was locked in. There was no use shouting, because the windows were sound proof and they were locked by our form teacher.

I sighed, I looked around, thinking of what to do when my eyes caught a piece of paper by the windows. It was from Kosi and Williams.

Naive and foolish Tega,

You think you can just mess with us and we have no power? I(Kosi) warned you but you disregarded it. Williams locked you in in class. We're giving you a taste of your own medicine. Next time, don't go near Daniel or Kemi. Enjoy your night at school.

What was Williams doing in school after she went home? I sat on a locker and I felt a tear roll down my eyes. And I actually thought I had good friends.

I was hungry and it was a good thing I didn't eat my food at lunch break. Instead of eating it, I drank some juice I brought along to school and kept my water and food to eat at night.

This was pathetic!
