chapter 2
Silver Divinity's school for Doms and Subs
The car pulled in front of a large building, My highschool. I would technically be graduating today, the thought of that made me a little giddy. The end of a chapter of my life and the start of a new one. Hopefully a less boring and daunting chapter. The excitement felt short lived after I heard the clicks of everyone unbuckling their seat belts and rustling everything together. My mom making sure she had all the paper work needed. My father checked over his phone to make sure we were signed in. My brother puffed out his chest, adjusting the collar on his shirt.
I had thought about what I wanted to be as a kid. Something most kids do, dream of being a fire fighter or a cop. Most teachers would tell you it's silly to think about it since the elders would know exactly where you belonged. It didn't stop me from thinking about it now as I was walking through the doors of my school as a student for the last time. As a kid I dreamed of helping people, becoming a blood technician at a dispensary or a woman of the transition court. I still held onto those dreams...just not as tightly.
My father turned to us smiling brilliantly before he grabbed both me and Lazarus by our shoulders. "I Believe in both of you, we'll be waiting here. Take your time and remember to keep your heads held high. You both are Moonstones, shine brightly." Lazarus rolled his eyes but smiled at our father. "You don't gotta worry about us." Our dad nodded before taking a step back and our mother taking his place engulfing us in a hug. "my babies are so grown up." Our mom seemed like she'd start crying any minute. "Moonstone!" A lady announced standing outside of the office room. "Mom, mom! Let me go." Lazarus pulled himself from our mom before re- adjusting his suit and hair. My mom gave a weak wave before stepping back smoothing down my hair and placing a kiss on my forehead.
Lazarus went in first. You couldn't hear much from outside of the brown door. The words "reading in session." Lit up on a neon sign announcing to anyone outside of the room that the reading had started. I played with the ends of my dress. My nerves were on fire, this could decide whether I did something amazing or something boring for hundreds of years. It really did feel like life or death. I waited outside the door. Me pacing back and forth while my parents sat at a bench not far from the office. I waited for another pain stickingly long 5 minutes that felt like hours.
There was a click as the neon sign turned off and out walked my brother with a new strange tattoo on the back of his hand. It was simple just a line stating he had been officially placed. A stack of papers were in his hands along with a piece of fabric. My brother had a huge grin on his face. He sat the papers down on the bench next to my mother and father and held up the piece of fabric. The fabric squares would be sewn into the family quilt to mark what our occupation ended up being. His was simple, a baseball bat and a baseball were embroidered onto the square.
"Moonstone?" The woman was confused which only made me giggle. Surprisingly twins weren't very common in vampire society. Most of the time one twin would eat the other. Luckily both me and my brother kept from eating eachother. I walked up to the woman giving her a nervous wave. "Ahhh, Lilith Moonstone...that makes more sense." Her smile felt fake. She's was definitely tired already, I reminded myself that it wasn't my fault and walked through the door.
When I walked in it felt like my world shifted. 3 people sat in front of me, 2 woman and one man. Pure bloods who were wiser then their years. You could just barely see the wrinkles starting to appear on there faces. Thier hands soft looking as they sat in office chairs behind a large table. "hello child, come sit down and tell us a little about yourself." I tried my best to bravely smile as I sat down. "my names Lilith, I'm 18. My father is Vlad Moonstone, My mother is Clara Moonstone and well...you just met my brother." "Ah! Yes twins, how rare? And how wonderful it is to see the children of the couple I placed together! proof that these systems are great." He winked at me. I was quite shocked, this man is the reason I'm alive. He put my mother and father together when they attended silver divinity. I bowed my head as a thank you. "Please place your hands on the table child."
I did as told placing my hands palm down upon the table. The elders placed their hands above mine and closed their eyes. Nothing in my body felt different as they focused. I felt awkward sitting there while they focused on my hands. The lady to my left was the first to back away nodding writing something down on a slip of paper. Next was the man about a minute later. Lastly the lady to my right backed away writing on a slip as well. Both of the ladies passed their slips onto the man who lined them up. "Interesting, and yet we are glad to see this. It means what we have been planning is working." The man smiled before turning the slips to me and turning around to grab paperwork out of a filing system. "Unfortunately you will not be going home today, you have bee-" the world froze around me as I looked down at the papers Infront of me. Silver Divinity's School For Dom's and Sub's. The next paper. To be placed with vampire Dom. The last making my breath quicken and my dead heart thump loudly in my ears. Little girl age: 3-5.
