10: Tucker Takes A Nap
Soft Body
"I'm really not in the mood for this today," Tucker said into his phone. He hadn't said anything else, but seeing her name on the caller ID was enough. He was never in the mood to talk to her.
"I'm hearing rumors about you Tuck, don't you want me to be a good friend and share my secrets?" Eve replied, not missing a beat. She always knew the exact way to boil Tucker's blood. And why had she used that phrase? It was the phrase Ruby had used yesterday with him. He dismissed Eve's snaky wording.
"Is this about business?"
"You know I only call you about business, baby. I'm trying to keep your business from becoming a shit show," she baited.
Tucker bit. "What do you mean?"
She chuckled in victory. "I'm talking about you training the new girl. What is that? You know we don't do that. Don't you trust Ben or Jackie?"
He rolled his eyes and huffed. "Of course I do."
"So why did you send Ben home, then? Seems a little ridiculous. And we're still paying him? Now what is that?"
"None of that is your business."
"Of course it is! I'm your second. We need to trust each other and tell each other everything."
"Stop that. I tell you what I want to tell you. This isn't your business. It's mine. Now leave me alone."
"Do you have a little crush on her, Tucker? Are you jealous of Ben?" Eve began to laugh. It was a few small giggles that turned into full laughs. Tucker remained silent.
"That's hilarious! Also kind of pathetic, sweetie, I'm sorry. I've heard what she looks like. What are you doing, baby? Are you that lonely? You know I'm always here for you. Whatever you need."
"Jesus, Eve. Don't call me again." Tucker hung up the phone in a rage. The click of an ended call couldn't have come fast enough.
"God, I hate you," he muttered.
Tucker tossed his phone on to his passengers seat. He regretted it, knowing that he'd probably have a phone call or two before his drive was up.
But he was wrong. The rest of his drive was dead silent. He didn't even bother to turn his music on. It gave him lots of time to think and clear his head, which was becoming harder and harder these days.
He had a headache when he pulled into his apartment complex. What the fuck was wrong with Eve? Why was she so evil? More importantly, why had Tucker married her in the first place?
He felt his embarrassment in his temples, which began to throb. He got to his apartment as fast as he could, sprinting up stairs, the keys ready in his hand. He shook the door open and let it slam shut. He peeled out of his clothes while he walked, leaving a trail behind him. No clothes to sleep, ever. Not even under extreme exhaustion and stress.
Tucker fell on top of his comforter and sheets, moving around, trying to find the perfect position. Every second he wasn't asleep was a second under duress. Half of him wanted to be unconscious while the other half berated him for giving up on work. He flipped. He flopped. It wasn't until he wrapped his pillow into his arms, as if it were a girl, that he finally fell asleep.
And for the first time in a long time, Tucker dreamed.
He dreamt he was in an infinity pool. Tucker had been here before, he remembered. It was the same one he was in when he and Eve took their honeymoon. The pool jutted out and it looked like the pool went on forever. He hung on the edge of it, the desert of Las Vegas in front of him. The sun was setting, nearly completely gone. He pushed off from the edge of the pool and let himself float. He was waiting for the stars, waiting for them to shine bright for stargazing. He remembered this.
"Tucker?" a female voice said to him, "You're okay, aren't you?"
This was different. Eve never came out by the pool if the sun wasn't high in the sky, or if there wasn't a party. She hated water and she hated being by the pool if there wasn't a chance of her getting attention. The voice didn't sound like her either.
Tucker moved to see where the voice was coming from. It was the doorway, with Ruby's head sticking out of it.
"I just didn't hear from you for a little while and got curious. You're okay, right?" She had sunglasses on her head and Tucker could see the small smattering of freckles across her face. He swam to the edge closest to her.
"Why don't you come in with me?" his dream self asked. She hesitated, biting her bottom lip.
"Please? Don't make me beg," he said.
"Well, okay." She walked out on her tiptoes, wearing a long white coverup. Ruby's body was tanned and her hair was natural. She wasn't wearing any makeup. She looked so beautiful and pure.
Ruby lifted her coverup above her hips and sat, sliding her legs into the water. Her thighs were thick, her calves were muscular, her feet were small, with even the toenails painted white. She lifted a leg out, sprinkled her toes, and set it back in. She did the same with the other.
"That's not good enough, you know. All the way in."
"Your wish is my command," she replied, lifting the cover up over her body. She was naked.
Ruby threw the coverup from the pool and let herself into the water. Standing, it reached right below her breasts. Tucker grabbed her the moment her body was in the water. She was in his arms now, her large breasts smashed against his chest and her soft belly touching his hard one. He kissed her long and deep.
"Oh," she said, exhaling. Tucker slid his trunks off and pulled her even tighter to him. She parted her legs and let him slide between them. He moved her head to the side and kissed her neck, starting from behind the ear and all the way down to her collarbone.
"Mark me," she demanded. He growled and obliged, leaving her a large dark hickey. She groaned and he began to scratch her down her back, right to the edge of the water line on her body, then begin again. Her body rocked back and forth against him.
"Tucker, Tucker, yes!" He stopped. She groaned in displeasure.
"Shhh, I have an idea," Tucker said. He took her hand and led her to the other edge of the pool. There were a few lights, far, far in the distance. He pressed the front of her body against the wall and stood behind her.
"I'm gonna tell you every constellation we see then mark your back with it."
"Tucker, I-" she gasped mid-sentence. He had already seen the Summer Triangle. She shuddered, "Please just fuck me already!"
"I can do both," he said, his voice low and close to her ear.
"Then do both."
"Anything for you." He finished the triangle, ready to slide into her. She was so ready, looking back at him, waiting.
And then the honking began. It was loud and urgent. Tucker shook from his dream, a giant erection greeting him as he woke up. He had slept for an hour, missing four calls.
"Fuck!" he yelled to himself in frustration. He didn't want to wait for this girl anymore.
